lol apperantley we have only signed 7 players !

That's not what it's saying, it's saying that we've spent money on those 7 players.

Danny Haynes was something speical on fm07

But now he is a player who has scored about 10 goals in three years

Not someone a promotion club should be looking at especially when you have a form player like schlupp available

As Schlupp showed on Saturday, he's nowhere near ready for the Championship.

Schlupp did well on Saturday in my opinion he needs to continue starting him what were people expecting. against Rotherham he played as part of a front 2 and was unplayable at times granted it was against lower league opposition but I can't see why he wasn't up top against reading he should start again against Bristol city he warrants a place in the starting 11 more than the rest of the 11 against reading bar schmeichel and bamba.

lol! Plenty of people rated him on that one game against Rotherham.

Very true, but one game dosen't make a player good or bad.

Take Ben Mee's debut for instance he had an absolute shocker and I can remember people were quick to call him crap when infact he turned out to be a very good defender.

No he doesn't. Schlupp was clearly out of his depth

a) because he was played on the wing

b) because he's not made for this level (yet)

He's young, nieve and inexperienced, but he'll learn.......... and so will Schlupp.

Not saying that Haynes is the sort of player we should be looking at but I did enjoy watching him put Joe Mattock on his arse in that televised FA Cup match vs WBA at Ashton Gate.

Exactly how you work out (b) I've no idea. What's he scored? Nine goals in 11 senior matches so far (including a hat-trick against a Rotherham team we lost to last season). Sure he seems right out of his depth!

But I saw nothing to persuade me one way or another on Saturday as to whether Schlupp can merit his place so soon. Imagine Sven had Nugent at left-back, how would that have helped you judge his value as a striker? Or Pantsil at centre-forward?

I'm fairly sure Schlupp has the pace, power, energy and touch to better Konshesky at left-back given that e need someone here who's capable of attacking but the real question is can the lad survive as a striker.

Well, to me, playing the lad once and out of position is just the sort of daft thinking that makes me wonder about Sven. And what wondrous choices does he have steering him away from giving the lad a proper chance in his proper position? Waghorn, who played against Rotherham and didn't score at all and who has had a dozen chances to make some impact?

Kingy, who really does best when coming quietly from deep positions? Or Howard if he hasn't moved away on loan?

Well, to me there's no risk at all, providing we give the lad a chance and surround him - and Nugent - with the sort of support which will make his life easier, the chances more frequent and pronounced and and the space around him greater.

What risk is there? None that can see for the reasons mentioned yet there's much to be gained, not least the knowledge that, just like Kingy and Gradel before him, the lad can play and can cope.

And that's not to say I don't think we should buy a striker or make plans to avoid Schlupp playing too long at a time or too many matches in close succession.

But to just arbitrarily say that the farce of last Saturday was reason to dismiss his challenge for a first team place is just blinkered. Hell, I could make a case for seven or eight of em being dropped on that basis - and those being people who weren't playing out of position.

Schlupp is a potential threat at our level just as much as he was at Brentford. The question is, how consistent a threat can he be while he's gaining experience and learning the strengths and weaknesses of his opponents? I don't know the answer to that but I'd sure want to find out rather than just sending him back into the wilderness on the basis of a farce.

And, the chances are, he will be more than determined to put the record straight about what he can do. But he really has got to have some service and support with Kingy, Gallagher and Dyer just the people to give it.

Think our team last year with all the loans played much better, we are missing Kyle Naughton and Greg Cunningham giving us more width is key to winning and keeping the opposition on the back foot.

I can reveal that Leicester City have put in a bid for Barnsley striker Danny Haynes, i know Luke Steele the Barnsley goalkeeper and he told me that City have put in a bid for the guy, according to him hes there best player has bags of pace and scores goals and they dont want to lose him but as they are short of cash they will have to sell!! We will see!!

Scoring record isnt great but think if he came would probably play out wide in the 433 formation, doubt he will be the 20 goal a season striker we are looking for

He was very highly rated at Ipswich from memory but he just reminds me of Vassell. I just hope unlike Vassell he actually plays him down the middle.

6 in 20 last season but hes really rated up there, like you say probably to play on the outside of the front 3 ,but there has definately been a bid put in trust me!
