Corky Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 Swansea deserved that, and what a joy to watch. Pass and move, no histrionics, no lunging into tackles and trying to keep the ball on the ground. We could learn a huge amount from them.
AjcW Posted 15 January 2012 Posted 15 January 2012 I loved the bit when even at the end where rangel could of just launched it and instead he pinged a pin point pass about the same distance as a long ball would of gone!
Corky Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Also, what was Sir Chesney doing for the third goal? Didn't know whether to go towards the ball, to make himself big or to cover the angle, so decided to do none of those. Would never have happened if Almunnia was in goal.
AjcW Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 lol "Add a silver necklace if you wish" lol , that bit had me on the floor.
MikeyT Posted 16 January 2012 Author Posted 16 January 2012 Damn it! Missed the first half. Didn't know it was on.
AjcW Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Probably the worst game of "football" I have seen in a long long time. God help Wigan!
Corky Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Wigan fans booing during the game. It's catching on, well done us
AjcW Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 I need to say it again... that was absolutely horrific, like, I've just got in from the pub and i'm still wondering what the **** I just sat through.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 16 January 2012 Posted 16 January 2012 Wigan fans booing during the game. It's catching on, well done us Haha
Corky Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 I do love the mentality over here, not specifically in the Premier League but in English football. You can go into a two-footed tackle, which could injure an opponent, and people will be divided as to whether it was a bad challenge, or a red/ yellow card. Yet you wave an imaginary card and it's almost universally condemned, even though the players' safety won't be in danger. Wonderful.

If I was Mancini and thought my player had been endangered or my team had been cheated I'd be asking for a card! Just like the fans do except they do it even when they know it doesn't warrant one. There are far more unsporting things than asking for someone to be sent off anyway. Spitting and racism for example, but not if there's cultural differences, it's fine then. Not to mention diving, which is 'part of the game' so who cares if it's dishonest?

I don't get the uproar every time players complain/wave 'cards' etc, because the fact of the matter is, it's not their decision to make. Yes, it's not exactly very sporting, but if the referee's decision is swayed by the actions of the players, then the only person that can be held accountable is the referee. It doesn't matter what the players around him are doing. He has the final word.
Corky Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 It isn't sporting, I agree, but the uproar over it when far worse things take place and are often glossed over is ridiculous.
Libertine Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Bang on. Glad someone else agrees. It's fine for fans to chant "OFF! OFF! OFF!" though. And now there's a big story on it on SSN, brilliant.

Ah yes, don't get me started on SSN. There was a MASSIVE story the other day....Mark Hughes wasn't going to change the club captain. DUN DUN DUN!
AjcW Posted 17 January 2012 Posted 17 January 2012 Cisse Completes Move to St James Park Papiss Cisse: Set to be paired with his international colleague, Demba Ba, at Newcastle Newcastle have finalised a £10million deal for Senegal international Papiss Cisse on a five-and-a-half-year contract. The 26-year-old striker was spotted arriving at the Magpies' training ground on Tuesday to put the finishing touches to a switch from German outfit Freiburg. Alan Pardew was expected to dip into the transfer market during the winter window, but a central defender was thought to be top of his wish list. He has, however, opted to bolster his strike force with the capture of Cisse. The Magpies have benefited greatly from their summer acquisition of Demba Ba and feel that pairing him with his international colleague can further enhance their top-four credentials. Partnership They will, of course, have to wait to see that partnership in action, with both men readying themselves for African Cup of Nations duty. Upon completing talks with Newcastle, Cisse was whisked away and jetted back to Africa to re-join the Senegal squad. Pardew is happy to wait, though, as he has acquired the services of a man who has become one of the Bundesliga's top marksmen in recent years. He netted 22 times last season and has already scored nine goals this term. Ba And Cisse up front, International partners, nice to see mr Ashley spending some money as well. Cisse has been handed the No.9 Shirt as well!
Haydos Posted 18 January 2012 Posted 18 January 2012 No, **** it. Players should NOT be allowed to crowd the referee (just like rugby union)...(**** anyone who doesn't like this part of rugby union) and argue their point. If they do they should be booked. Straight forward. It's not like they have to leave the pitch for 10 minutes like rugby union, they are simply warned about their future conduct. It's the referee's decision, if the players start screaming in their ear the moment a foul occurs they should be booked immediately, no questions, no limitations. I bet it would catch on foooooking quickly...
