Conscript Fox Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Some of you may have read or remember my posts in the transfer rumour section through the summer, relaying info from an Irish site where a poster called The Doc sporadically contributes on the career of Sean St Ledger, with unerring accuracy, and predicted the move to Leicester, and the price and timing of it well before any other media had that detail available. Its widely accepted on this Irish site that this guy is Sean St Ledger, or someone very much in his camp as the information is always ahead of the game and bang on the money. He has now posted this in the last 24 hours, its post #469 and the bit particularly relating to Leicester is as follows: ''As for Leicester, maybe it was implied to St Ledger that he would start, when he signed and that someone hasnt kept their word. Think St Ledger will be looking to move if he isnt playing 1st team football in the next few weeks as he wont let anything affect his International career'' Not the best news, now is it. What if Maynard tips up tonight all motivated and wins the game for Bristol, and Forest with their own ex England manager and a couple players we probably passed on do the same on Saturday. Its on a knife edge already kids. It could all tailspin very easily. Facinitating times directly ahead.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 If we lose we lose, that's football. Things are always going to go better when we're winning. But after 2 league games it's too early for St. Ledger to give up on first team football....if he has well it just goes to show he isn't prepared to work hard enough.
tomtom Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 One player having to fight for his place like many others means discontent in the squad???
Thracian Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 After watching Saturday's game I'd be well pissed off if I was a centre-half sitting on the sidelines. Leicester seem to have operated not as team builders but as a recruitment agency for mercenaries. Even now, in chasing a centre-forward ,it's a case of anyone will do from what's available rather than really picking out someone who really suits and wants to come here. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to find we've built a house of cards.
Jaspa Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 After watching Saturday's game I'd be well pissed off if I was an overlooked centre-half sitting on the sidelines. Because if St Leger's worse than what I saw from our skipper then he shouldn't have been signed in the first place. And as you can imagine that the captain has his own ego then, yes, you can easily see how a team of mass imports could become a cauldron of discontent. Leicester seem to have operated not as team builders but as a recruitment agency for mercenaries. Others, like Southampton, seem to have built something. Two games FFS! We've brought in a very large amount of players so I don't expect anything exeptional untill at most November. Sven knows what he's doing. The only thing Soton have which we don't is a winning a mentality and confidence in each other, both easy to acheive given our setup. If we win tonight will you stop moaning till at least the weekend please?

Candidcamera Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Now why can't you give the current team a chance. It is so easy to criticise the rebuilding that is going on.
drc Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Maybe just Bamba has impressed so much in pre-season that Sven think he's better than S:t Ledger at the moment. They are professional football players ffs and as soon we'll have an injury or a suspension S:t ledger will step in. Unfortunately S:t Ledger was on international duty when we played Rotherham. I can understand that he would be sort of pissed if Ball was chosen ahead of him but that's not the case. Ball is at the stand and S:t Ledger is on the bench.
Babylon Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 I see Southampton are Thracians team of the season, taking over from Leeds last year who he managed to mention in every other post. Funny thing is when we were "building a team" under Pearson and were doing just as well as they are, all he could so was moan and nitpick at everything.

Dicko Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 One player having to fight for his place like many others means discontent in the squad??? This! I'm pleased if St Ledger is p!ssed off that he's not getting games, as personally I want people here who want to play for the club and be in the team. If he's annoyed then good, he can graft hard and fight his way into the team. This doesn't mean that there's "discontent in the squad" !!!

I like wearing panties on my face mmmmmmm That's why I said 'exeptional' u **** I meen that I don't expect us to be at full speed untill then, for now I'd be happy with a win here and there. Like we are doing
DUBNBASS Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 yer its far to early to say the wheels are coming off. its true we need to fix up and look sharp but i have no real concern that this will not happen. you put 11 people together who dont know each other or each others game it will be disjointed for a little while. St Ledger needs to pipe down and get his head down and prove he is worthy of the first team starting 11 not winge like an old lady
LcFc_Smiv Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 There's no real proof it even is St Ledger, why are our own fans so eager to jump on the back of the team and the manager so soon. FFS call yourself fans, we've lost once, it was a shit performance, I'd be worried if we played the best we could and still lost, but the fact there's so much more potential and clearly more to come your getting worked up over nothing. Some of you don't like whats happened to the club, grow up, just because you have a sulk doesn't mean it's going to change. I hope there's lots of players who feel angry that their on the bench, it means when they do get the chance they should be motivated and determined enough to give their best and prove a point, and if ti comes to it and they aren't then they don't deserve it.
Babylon Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Player in "doesn't like sitting on the bench" shocker... who cares, happens at all clubs
RowlattsFox Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 St Ledger's got history but I think its unlikely he's causing unrest already. Theres always going to be these rumours when we've got a big squad.

If you want to look at today's game, almost every single footballer is a mercenary because players staying with one club for longer than two, three maybe four years are the exception to the rule. If you want to point the finger at somebody, you might want to try the Bosman ruling and what the court verdict led to since 1995 (not that football mercenaries didn't exist prior to 1995, oh no). Who says these guys don't suit Sven's system - would they've been acquired in the opposite case? But hey ho - have fun supporting Southampton, your new "Leeds minus Maxi Gradel". Oh wait, are we now going to be flooded by posts of yours saying "we should have never let David Connolly go!!"?

foxoffderby Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 I would drop Mills for tonight and give St Ledger a game its a squad game this season and Mills was awefull.
davieG Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 When it gets this bad is the time to worry Merc A footballer who attacked a team mate who he thought he had played badly has been jailed for 20 months. Marlon Mark Hadaway became angry after his team, Braunstone-based Winstanley Rangers, were defeated. He and other players were getting changed beside the pitch on Leicester's Victoria Park, on January 16, when he head-butted his victim. Hadaway, of Wreford Crescent, Leicester, appeared at the city's crown court on Monday after earlier admitting wounding. Prosecutor Alan Murphy said the 35-year-old began to berate his victim over the standard of play when another player told Hadaway he had not played well himself. Mr Murphy said: "This seems to have set the defendant off. He threw a water bottle, a plastic bottle." The court heard the target of Hadaway's anger ignored this but the defendant then "launched himself" at his victim and head-butted him on his left cheek, knocking his head backwards. Other team members intervened and knocked the defendant away. Players restrained Hadaway but he managed to break free and punched his victim, knocking him to the ground. The injured man was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary with deep cuts to his right lower eyelid, which went through to the muscle. He needed 30 stitches, the last six of which had to be inserted without anaesthetic because they were close to the eye, and the court was told he suffered "excruciating pain". The victim returned to hospital the next day to have a tube inserted in a tear duct. He has also had to see a psychologist. Mr Murphy added: "Now, whenever he plays football he has to wear a pair of specially designed goggles to prevent further injury." During interview, Hadaway accepted "he took the game too seriously". He said he knew he had hit his victim but could not remember what he had done. Paul Trotter, mitigating, said his client had no clear recollection of the incident but said "no excuses would justify his actions". Mr Trotter said Hadaway was "extremely passionate about football, about his own play – some of the other players are not so passionate". Mr Trotter said Hadaway no longer played football. He said: "He has no intention to play at a competitive level again. The closest he will get to football is probably with children in the back garden. "He recognises he has become far too serious about these matters." Judge Charles Wide QC told Hadaway he had taken into account his previous good character. Passing sentence, the judge said: "You were absolutely furious about a game, a game of football, and you attacked a team mate. A head-butt is a particularly vicious form of attack. "What made your offending much worse is you just would not leave it."
sbfox Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 So hang on.... StLedger PERHAPS voices his concern that he wants to be playing more first team football. From this, the OP and then people like Thrac have managed to extrapolate that the club is in terminal decline, players are fighting with one another and the whole setup is about to come crashing down? We've already seen that when one player gets suspended, another quality player fills in and we're sorted. If one of our players isn't intelligent enough to recognise how a rotational system works, he is intelligent enough to be playing for us...
eraserhead66 Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 Even though there is no evidence that it is St Ledger, he does have history as a mardy arse! I remember watching a programme on Sky a good few years back when Ron Atkinson went into Peterborough as a "trouble-shooter" & St Ledger was there (I think he was captain). He didn't like what Atkinson had to say & walked off in a petulant manner. He was only starting out in his career then as well, International caps & million pound moves have probably swelled his head even more.
Dicko Posted 17 August 2011 Posted 17 August 2011 I would drop Mills for tonight and give St Ledger a game its a squad game this season and Mills was awefull. You'd drop the Captain after one bad game???
