liamsm Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Should the FA penalise and fine bad mistakes from referees? what are your opinions
Foxinspain Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 definitely - he should be held accountable for the farce today
The Doctor Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 as far as I'm aware they give them a tiny little slap on the wrist - demotion to a lower league for a couple of games. Not good enough for refs like today, at m'boro last year etc. - fine them, ban them from reffing for however many games or something like that. Also make them talk to the press post-match, make them explain their decisions to the public, the ones who their failings (whether honest or deliberate) are affecting.
DB11 Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Lol because there's so many about. As if The FA are going to fine their referees.
liamsm Posted 20 August 2011 Author Posted 20 August 2011 Lol because there's so many about. As if The FA are going to fine their referees. They fine and suspend players and they just liuke the refs are registered with the FA
accessory Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 We'll remember this when the FA next blather on about a "respect" campaign. The tiny minority of crooks and cheats poison the reputation of honest and dedicated refs.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 If I had such a shocker at my work I'd be seriously worried about getting the sack. The Royal Mail equivilant of crashing the mail van and all the locals turning up to nick the post.
Jaspa Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Should deffinately be clearer. We don't really know a thing about these men, and they never answer to their faults. Complete overhaul if I was in charge, with Ex-Players officiating. **** You Mr Moss
DB11 Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 They fine and suspend players and they just liuke the refs are registered with the FA Exactly. There's plenty of referees. If The FA started treating their referees badly, then the referee's could go on strike (ala Scotland).

The tiny minority of crooks and cheats poison the reputation of honest and dedicated refs. The FA need to learn that respect has to be earned. Moss deserves every last bit of abuse that will go his way after that performance. If a player had put in a performance as inept as that he would have been booed of the pitch.

Complete overhaul if I was in charge, with Ex-Players officiating. **** You Mr Moss I think you'd seriously struggle to get ex-player officiating, it's quite clear, on these forums tonight how much referees are slagged off, would ex-players, some of who will have certainly got a good name in the game between certain groups of fans then go into refereeing, make a bad decisions and ruin that good name?

Complete overhaul if I was in charge, with Ex-Players officiating. **** You Mr Moss Ex-Players do not want to officiate. And when they do retire, they're too old to officiate at the top level. Oh, and I can assure you that referees would like to be able to explain decisions but The FA say that they're not allowed. Plus the media would twist everything and, especially as they won't be used to interviews and won't have had training on what and how to say things, it will make things worse. Then it's about time they trained some ex-players to ref as stand ins imo As above.
Jonezy Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 As football gets to a level with higher and higher tempo and referee decisions becoming more and more deciding for the outcome of the matches, I really believe we should start looking towards the NFL. Something like each manager being able to challenge certain situations could be a way forward. Also on elite levels like the championship, why can't there be another ref with access to replays, who can communicate with the ref on the field, so key decisions will have a higher chance of being the correct decision.

How could you say that? There's hundreds of thousands of players, all differant personalities and back grounds. It would also give a chance to the big stars who wouldve liked to carry on playing andbeing part of the whole experience of being part of a game. I'm sure if the ref setup was clearer and had a better image there would be plenty of players wanting to step out onto that green grass.

How old is a ref when he is forced to retire, i'm sure it is a lot older than the age most players stop playing top class football, There are many ex-players who dont have excellent reputations to protect most lower league players dont earn loads so perhaps they would like a way to be able to stop in the game and carry on earning, perhaps refereeing would be the answer

sg6 Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 The ref's should come out after the games like the players and managers do and explain themselves to the media.
Daggers Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 The ref's should come out after the games like the players and managers do and explain themselves to the media. Or players, managers and supporters should start learning to suck it up. I've yet to meet a person whinging about refs where my respect for them didn't fall through the floor. Grow the fvck up, it's a fvcking game.

Can you please explain to me at what point in my above post was I whinging about a referee, i was just stating an opinion that would maybe clear some cloudy incidents in matches up and would maybe get the referees more credit and less blame if the supporters can understand their reasoning for decisions. No need for that language really is there?
Kitchandro Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Games like today remind me of why I have no respect for referees. He completely ruined the game because he wanted to give the home side everything. Disgrace. Demotion and fines aren't enough, performances like that are worthy of the sack on the spot. All that hard work from our players and the majority of it down the drain because of some tosser. 40 years and counting because of that fvck.

Trav Le Bleu Posted 20 August 2011 Posted 20 August 2011 Interesting point in the Forest Highlights thread. After the first goal, a Forest defender kicks the ball into the crowd in frustration. Yellow card? Nah, of course not.

The problem is twofold... The ridiculous rules that the FA have brought in, which are effectively making our great game a non contact sport and a farce AND the useless cvnts that implement them basically because they are shit scared of using their own common sense. They are becoming automatons
