Striker by Saturday, who will it be?

Is me or does Sven seem to chase unrealistic targets at times?

Seems to forget we are a championship side, sure we should have a realistic chance of promotion at least via the playoffs but there are no guarantees and all top strikers naturally want to play at the top level even if that means warming the bench a lot!

My posts have reached 1966.....good year that!

If you mean Maynard, i don't see that as being unrealistic at all. He is a striker in our league, not some premiership class striker. If you are not referring to Maynard, i shall keep my trap shut. lol

Nothing wrong with aiming high, but i wouldnt say that the players he has actually targetted (rumours aside) are unrealistic targets

No wasn't talking about Maynard, just in general

My Mam's best friend Elsie ( affectionately known as Elsie FC ) as she is an old City fan says she bumped into Uncle Bert Humpadink in the co-op in Great glen , and he told her that Maynard is going to sign on Friday . Uncle Bert said he knows this is true because he is getting the drinks in after the signing and actually sang down the phone to the Bristol board on behalf of Nicky one of his old hits " Please release me let me go " apparently that did the trick and they have let him go . It's not what you know it's who you know .

If Maynard is not included in the team for tonight's game against Swindon then we can make an educated guess.....

Or they don`t care about the League Cup and are resting him for the weekend....

Guess what! He's not in the squad tonight. Injured apparently lol

And if Beckford is not included in the Everton squad tonight, does that mean we're signing them both?

I'm guessing thats the conclusion some will come to

What we need is a Maynard thread.

My brother's mate Simon is always nicking stuff from Morrisons. He just walks in, grabs whatever he can (usually prawns, mussels.. he likes seafood), and runs. The security can never catch him because he's young, quick and agile. So anyway today, he had stuffed his coat full of frozen squid, and was sprinting home free from the store when he suddenly felt the presence of someone bearing down on him fast from behind. Whoever it was must have been lightning quick, but before Simon could turn to look his heels had been clipped and he was tumbling to the floor, then rolling, squid flying everywhere, along the carpark. Now, although he can't be sure, and he couldn't speak for long from his jail cell, he's pretty convinced that as he was tumbling and rolling, between getting a face full of tarmac and having his vision impaired by flying squid, he caught a blurred glimpse of his nemesis. He says it was Usain Bolt...

Don't see us having another striker by saturday, seems to me from recent rumours that we're getting desperate about signing someone and running out of ideas.

This is just the club trying to stall which is why I think they've said they won't be rushed.

To me it looks like we're waiting until the last possible moment so that nobody else comes in and snatches them from underneath us. Plus if we're offering the sort of 6M+ money for Maynard, it'd take a hard man to turn that away knowing it's our final offer.

6million, he's a decent prospect but this is just getting ridiculous to be honest.

We are paying for our inept attitude earlier in the summer now of not concluding a deal. I still have no idea why teams wait until the end of August where you miss the player for a few games and pay a silly fee for them. Bizarre and desperate.

We won't have a forward in by Saturday.

Always the same with us, the signing is NEVER completed by the time they say it will be.

Mind you, the deal is often done, just an observation of mine that they don't meet their "deadlines" (Even though it's not a deadline as such it's just their own thought).

Looked at the Bristol City Forum last night and apparently anybody that starts a new maynard thread on there gets banned now...
