Fox92 Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Some people! If you were born in 1992 it must mean you're at least 18, and yet you'd still post something like this in seriousness. Ok. Forest have been chanting racist crap at us for decades. It's about time something was done about it. It goes on everywhere, at many football matches across the country. I don't agree with it that much, but its just something that happens. There are alot of things that need to be done first before this, because if you are going to stop one thing then another thing will have to be stopped and it will go on for ever. In my opinion, the best thing to do is rise above it all.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Like comparing a humorous if slightly distasteful song about one man who died several years ago (and was hardly the greatest gentleman whilst he was alive) to singing chants which actively suggest an influx of ethnic minorities into a city as a negative thing and something you can take the piss out of. It's an embarrassing and frankly baffling attempt at a comparison. I don't see why the influx of ethnic minorities is either a good thing or bad thing, nor has to be branded as such. To say its one or the other just segregates the different groups. I'm not black or Asian, but surely to be offended over a chant like this at a football match when it is not aimed at one person in particular is a bit soft isn't it? I could understand any outrage had it been directed at one fan who was right next to their end. For me, its just banter, though I would say that as I'm white and English.

There are so many you could complain about and want banning but thatd be pathetic.

Don't think you can call people soft if they find offence to racist chants. They may be 'banter' but they are in fact racist. I personally just ignore it as I've had much worse racial abuse before. But at away games it does sometimes make me feel slightly uncomfortable.
panky and our gang Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Shiv don't be uncomfortable at the away matches the majority of Leicester away fans are behind you . If you support Leicester that's all that matters , keep on supporting . The word racist is a silly word given that there is a bit of racist in all of us , it means we prefer our own . That is until after a time length you become our own . I am proud to come from Leicester and the Asian community is now very much our own .

If you were walking down the road towards a ground where an opposing fan went nose to nose with you and racially insulted you, that'd be horrific. A general chant aimed at all city fans where racist words weren't used is slightly different IMO, but again, I can't speak for non whites so I do understand if you were offended.
wellyfox Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 A Debt ignored is a problem. Ignore a racist and he will shut the **** up. The nore space you give ie. on here they will bread. Hold your head high walk past and ignore em who is the better person. Your paying them homage by starting this thread and from that they bread n take strength.

LcFc_Smiv Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 believe me it wasn't intentional i didn't even realise it was about leicester asian community until somebody mentioned it i thought it was a digg at the foreign owners This is pretty much what I thought, the chant to me never came across as racial abuse attempt. It was more of a dig at our ownership, the fact we have became a part of the King Power brand, sponsored by them, stadiums named after them. One of my mates is a huge Forest fan and finds Leicester fans disrespectful when they start up chants like "Let him die" and the Brian Clough chant, not on the same level as racism, but hardly looks good at us does it? And many of you will say its a minority of fans, I to would say this seeing a handful idiots (Leicester fans) that were marched into the city ground away car park last season by the police, I'm sure the problem is the same with Forest fans, as it is with every other football club around the country. Just a season of it to endure, then we can go and give it to the likes of Chelsea and Man City fans.

Socks Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 it used to be "your just a town of taxis" now its racist but I live and work in Nottingham and its just as multi-cultural as Leicester especially in Forest Fields, Hyson Green, Radford, St Anns, The Meadows, Wollaton, Mapperley Plus I sit next to about 7 Asians at work They are just jealous they wouldnt say boo if they had foreign owners / lots of cash Red Scum Plus I think Mclarens going to mess em up
blueharmie Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 Leicester town centre is far from English i agree but they just do it to wind up the fans. im sure all the lcfc fans are pretty much english to me!
Corky Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 If it is a dig at our ownership, why didn't we hear it in our previous visits under the control of Mr Mandaric? We've been under foreign ownership since 2007.
blue army 1988 Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 i was at the forest game a few weeks ago and heard the forest fans singing the chant 'you used to be english, you're not any more' i dont get it yeah we have been brought out by foreign owners but its not as if were playing our games in thailand and its not as if we have loads of foreign glory supporters like the likes of chelsea man united and liverpool and no body mocks them for being non english clubs , i mean im guessing its jealousy and bitterness for us being promotion favorites, but i was wondering if this a one off is this a regular chant by opposing fans ............................. oh yeah and well done for abusing that fat ass forest fan in the stand to the left (black shirt, bald guy). We could have sung this to Maclaren with his dodgy dutch accednt he keeps in his locker
Clazie Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 Leicester town centre is far from English i agree but they just do it to wind up the fans. im sure all the lcfc fans are pretty much english to me! I'm sorry?!
Sods Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 Pretty certain it was a dig at our ownership, has not stopped them before singing racist chants though. However they are one of the thickest bunch going when they sing 'she said no sven'. I don't think many women have ever turned sven down. Likewise with the bonfire song after they sing we only hate derby.
Brown Fox Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 If a small pocket of Leicester fans want to sing sick songs about Brian Clough, a footballing legend, then you should be able to accept this back. I should accept being laughed at because I'm not White and being told I'm from a small town in Baghdad because I DIDN'T sing a song about Brian Clough and a few others did? Don't think so mate.
acooling08 Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 Leicester town centre is far from English i agree but they just do it to wind up the fans. im sure all the lcfc fans are pretty much english to me! Completely agree. The city centre itself may not be English anyone but our fanbase still is.
RedHux Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 Your city centre looks exactly like every other city centre in this fair land. Same shop fronts, same crowds of bored and irritating people milling about wishing they were somewhere else. It's as English as anywhere.
Fox92 Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 I should accept being laughed at because I'm not White and being told I'm from a small town in Baghdad because I DIDN'T sing a song about Brian Clough and a few others did? Don't think so mate. Banning it is ridiculas though. Things happen all the time and people say 'oh this should be band', no. If you are going to ban this, then you need to ban everything that offends someone - such as, calling someone fat, calling someone old, calling someone four eyes because they have glasses, saying someone is different etc. Its just a bit of banter at the end of the day, and if we (not you because I'm not pointing fingers, or else) dish it out then expect to get some back. I don't agree with it all but it makes the World go around, even Jeremy Clarkson said that. Because, if all this banning goes on, we'll all have to watch what we say, you know. The World is not equal, everyone is different and thats a good thing. The World would be stupid and boring if we couldn't say anything to anyone because it offends someone else. In simple terms, if you want to talk, go through and try to ban a couple of people, then you've got to go through and ban everything. Try telling jokes then, but you won't be able to, because it will always offend someone. Wait untill we are away from home and someone sings 'you fat ba**ard like at the Forest match, you've got to ask for them to be band because it offends the person.
Bugg Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 ridiculas Can you please start spelling ridiculous properly, it's riling me. Thats about the 3rd time you've done that this week, pack it in. My ex-girlfriend used to spell it like that and she was a c*nt, don't go the same way buddy.
Fox92 Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 Ok, sure. I'm typing very fast and as long as you understand me I don't really see any problem.
