Thailand is mad about football, King Power want us up in the Premier League to give global exposure to their brand (hence why the shirt and stadium now have King Power emblazoned on them). Personally I'm still worried about what's going to happen if we don't go up this season...

Why should he be banned for expressing his opinion? Even if you think it is drivel? And anyway, I happen to agree with him. The owners have done a good job so far, and have certainly put their money where their mouths are. But I think it's only sensible to be sceptical about their motives. You only have to listen to an interview with 'Top' or Top Snr. to see that their interest in our club is analogous with their interest in the Premier League - I've no doubt their passion for football is genuine, but that in itself is not enough to explain the amount of money they have spent so far. Clearly, their mission is to get us into the PL to give exposure to their company...and that's all fine and dandy, but we do have to ask ourselves what would happen if in two seasons' time we are still stuck in the Championship? Personally, I think there is a good chance they would sell up and I think we should bear that in mind.
dave the caveman Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 It's still hard to judge. They've already spent way more than their reported wealth would allow. So either they've got a lot of money hidden away or it's not their money. The latter seems more likely. My guess is that we have a very wealthy silent backer who is in it for profit. He will sell up once he can make enough profit from the sale. Meanwhile Top & co, who I believe are genuinely good people, get to be the face of the investment which provides them with a cost effective way of promoting King Power, Thailand and Thai football.

Yes, abandoning their biggest effort to promote the King Power brand worldwide abruptly would be a very prudent business move.
