shen Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 Retired from football to care for his son who has been diagnosed with cancer. Thoughts are with him, his son and the rest of his family. Didn't he just join St Etienne as well? Terrible news about his son though. Never realized he was Belgian-born as well. Wonder why he never tried his hand in international football with them. Was a good player in his prime.
Donut Posted 2 September 2011 Posted 2 September 2011 good grief.....thats shocking news hope his son wins his battle and steeds family is ok
FoxyPV Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 I heard this earlier. It's mental. for the family
Fox92 Posted 3 September 2011 Posted 3 September 2011 Hope he and his family are alright. I quite like Steed Malbronque and thought he was good enough to stay at Spurs when he was sold.
Brown Fox Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 Well just found out he doesn't actually have a son http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/news/8743112/Steed-Malbranques-lawyers-rubbish-reports-he-has-quit-football-to-care-for-cancer-suffering-son.html
lcfc_sam_p Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 He doesn't have a son. He has 2 daughters who are healthy, he remains a st etienne player. Disgusting rumours.
leicesterisme Posted 5 September 2011 Posted 5 September 2011 You've got to be some seriously fvcked up cvnt to make up that kind of rumour. Sickening.
lcfc_sam_p Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 He has actually parted company with st etienne..
Happy Fox Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 Steed Malbranque's contract at St Etienne terminated But the player and club have denied suggestions the Frenchman was leaving to care for his young son, who was reported to be suffering from cancer. Malbranque's representatives released a statement on Monday saying he does not have a son and his family are fine. The former Fulham, Spurs and Sunderland midfielder, 31, joined St Etienne in August following 10 years in England. "At a meeting held Monday night between the management of AS St Etienne and Steed Malbranque, both parties have decided, by mutual agreement, to amicably end their collaboration," read a statement on the club's official website. "St Etienne and the player would like to strongly deny all the rumours referring to the health of Steed Malbranque or children that accompanied the decision of the individual. This choice is his alone and ASSE fully respects Steed's will. "The management of AS St Etienne would like to wish Steed the best in his choices and his future life." STEED MALBRANQUE'S CAREER Continue reading the main story Lyon: 56 appearances, 6 goals Fulham: 195 appearances, 44 goals Tottenham: 72 appearances, 12 goals Sunderland: 95 appearances, 2 goals St Etienne: 1 appearance, 0 goals Earlier this week, London-based solicitors Thomas Cooper released a statement on behalf of Malbranque denying rumours about his private life. "Steed has read with concern the recent stories currently circulating about him and his family," read the statement. "He would like to reassure all of his friends in England and throughout world football that these stories are wholly without foundation. "Steed does not have a son and his immediate family are all in good health. Steed does not know the origin of these stories but would like to stress that they are without merit. "Steed trusts that the rumours will now cease immediately."
Houdini Logic Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 There's something more to this story, something's not quite right
Jimothy Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 All seems very odd. Why transfer over there, sign a contract and then leave, for seemingly no reason after one game. Maybe he had a Coppell moment and just found he had no appitite for the game anymore.
StanSP Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 There's something more to this story, something's not quite right Definitely. Do we know who started the rumour? Bit of a long shot but could be someone to do with St Etienne, either a player or staff member? Nevertheless, whoever did create it is a disgusting individual. Gotta be more to it.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 I'd take a cheeky gamble on Steed if I was Sven.
Happy Fox Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 I'd take a cheeky gamble on Steed if I was Sven. So would I, be absolute quality at this level
Fox92 Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 So would I, be absolute quality at this level I think he'd still do a decent job at Premier League level.
Happy Fox Posted 6 September 2011 Posted 6 September 2011 I think he'd still do a decent job at Premier League level. Yeah I know he would, but if we could entice him here it would be one hell of a coup.
