dannythefox Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Big Penalty's if we don't go up due to amount of money spent and the new rule's in the Championship! Oh Joy!
sphericalfox Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 this isn't news, and I'm pretty sure there's about 3/4 topics either discussing this, or specifically talking about this topic previously.
Adster Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 What a nice positive thought to start my sunday off
cc_star Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Increased stadium & shirt sponsorship by King Power makes this a moot point
Happy Fox Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Increased stadium & shirt sponsorship by King Power makes this a moot point That may be the case, but it won't stop other clubs in the championship making a case to the authorities, wanting investigations etc, best thing to do is get promoted
Rincewind Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 So because an outside source has invested in the club increasing revenue brought in the FL may fine deduct points? Isn't the aim of all businesses to make a profit? What will happen to the PL teams that have brought in new owners? I dont have SKY sports so dont know the full facts.

I dont have SKY sports so dont know the full facts. this is exactly the point the rulings are very unclear and noone can be very sure and there will be many loopholes that teams will be able to get around some people are panicing some are not man city have got away with it in the champions league using sponsorship
Babylon Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 I dont have SKY sports so dont know the full facts. Nobody has the full facts yet. Greg Clarke said the day before it was past (9th June) that the next 6 months would be spent "developing a system and ensuring it was fair and transparent". I believe the rules proposed for Europe include staged penalties. ie. first season it's brought in less of a penalty than the second season, second season penalty less than third season penalty etc. They aren't going to jump on clubs instantly and start handing out massive fines. There will be plenty of clubs out there that signed up players on long expensive contracts that they have to honour, the league can't jump on them and start dishing out points deductions straight away. Besides, until someone has done their accounts and submit them how can the league know for sure what has been spent and what has come in through sponsorship etc. Teams like Chelsea and Man City spend way over what they bring in and they have to adhere to the same rules to compete in Europe. Do they look overly concerned? There will be rules that can be bent. If money is coming in through sponsorship ie. not in the form of loans. They I don't think there is much they can do about it, it may be something they try and clamp down on, but it won't be straight away.
Matt Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 Its almost like the authoritys make the rules up as they go along.
Rincewind Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 I just thought City were in the clear after being bought out after administration and all the debts being paid off. Even the stadium is paid for now and that was on a 20 year deal. I can see how they need promotion to generate more money and the owners to get a return for their investment. But I can only see real problems if they pull out and that means selling. Who would buy if they are still in this division? I still find it confusing. I can see a lot of clubs going out of business if fines are implented. Maybe best if some from the lower leaguses go back to the North and South divisions to cut down on travel costs The big Premier clubs are drawing the fans away from the smaller ones. Look at the number of clubs in the Manchester/Merseyside areas Maybe this should be in a new topic thread though.

The stadium is not paid for and the debt is still increasing or at least not reducing whilst we're in the Championship as I understand it.
anglodan Posted 11 September 2011 Posted 11 September 2011 this isn't news, and I'm pretty sure there's about 3/4 topics either discussing this, or specifically talking about this topic previously. well for someone like me who only checks the board once or twice a week, it IS news and an interesting article
