chili_con_carne Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Cardiff away twice - we never seem to win there! Middlesbrough away - looking great under Mowbray. Derby at home - should win this but they are still in form. Birmingham away - obviously a tough game. Not to put a downer on the win today which was great! But think we may have one or two losses on the way if im thinking with my head.
scinnell Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 We step up too the plate in big games so thats a positive
Libertine Dream Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 If we play well like we did today and for most of the Forest game then these games should gain us some points. We play better against the tougher teams that try to play football against us.
Webbo Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Brighton were top of the league. If we play to our potential we shouldn't fear anyone.
Jace Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 doesnt matter no games easy and we are playing better against higher opposition at the moment
Happy Fox Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Every game is difficult in this league, but if we approach it with the right mentality and without complacency we should be able to win the majority, 74 more points to go
bluesbrothers Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Cardiff - I'd happily lose the cup match 6-1 and sneak a win in the league! Boro away? Let Bamba do for Emnes what he did for CMS today and we'll waltz to victory. They are a one man team if ever i saw one. Derby at home - most worried about this one, they've suprised everyone this year and have a good tactician in Clough. Take a point but we have a good record against them recently. Brum away - No idea what to expect. Personally, I just want to rib Curtis Davies for turning us down to "play in the Premiership." SO the next few fixtures are hit and miss in my book. But I dont see why we can't take at least 7 points and progress to the CC 4th round. EDIT: For the record, Brighton were really average today, though perhaps that's because we were class.
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Cardiff (A - cup game) win Cardiff (A) 1 point Boro (A) 3 points Derby (H) 3 points Birmingham (A) 3 points 10points from a possible 12 points would be lovely Our season starts now
dave_the_fox Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 U may as well say the next 39 games chilli!
Dylan Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Brighton: unbeaten all season and unbeaten in 11 away games before today. Southampton: 11 competitive wins in a row before we played them (5 this season), with only 1 defeat in 25 (winning 22 of them). Bristol City: 2 losses from 2 when we played them, and looking dreadful. Point: We seem to be beating the decent teams and ending their good records, but losing or doing shit against the crap teams we should be beating and ending their crap record. Happened last season too. We need to learn to finish off the lesser teams. And therefore think we'll do quite well in our next 5
MC Prussian Posted 17 September 2011 Posted 17 September 2011 Anything is possible. We will be making our way to the top of the table, but slowly. I expect some tough fights in the upcoming weeks, and a couple of tight scorelines to follow. As long as the injury witch won't hurt us any more, the pieces should come together further and make us a) hard to beat b) even more dangerous on the attack Nugent should be back in a couple of weeks, I do hope we will see Johnson in a league game soon (him and Fernandes in the middle - minor orgasm). The defense looked much more composed today, the clean sheet will have done them more than just good. We have options up front. And Schmeichel's been outstanding so far. Looking forward to seeing a team play that has finally come to terms with its strengths. Up the Leicester!
ceebeefox Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 Roll it on a year , if (as we should with the investment made) we get promotion , are these games as daunting as Old Trafford , Goodison Park , or even dare l say Wigan?? We should approach these games positively , not just hoping to win but expecting to. And if we press the ball as well as yesterday and don't sit back and invite pressure we will win most weeks.
MONreborn Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 This reminds me of the Bristol city in February scenario. We had just won to go 7th and had Cardiff Coventry Norwich and qpr and ended up with only 1 point. I think a minimum of 7 points is needed to keep the momentum. 8 points and unbeaten would be perfect. Now we just have to sit back and wait!
Number 6 Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 Really difficult games. Hard to say what would be deemed an appropriate points total from those games. Personally think that 8 would be a great haul.
Alpha Gifts & Awards Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 This is the difference this season i.e. we're beating top six sides!!
Happy Fox Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 Wasn't it deemed that an average of 2 points a game was promotion form?, so 8-10 points in those 4 league games would be fantastic.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 Brighton were top of the league. If we play to our potential we shouldn't fear anyone. This Its about how we play, i suspect if we play to our strengths then we wont lose to many this season, well heres hoping anyway
Thracian Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 We should focus on what we do and not worry about the name of the opposition or our previous record. For the Cardiff games we should aim for the two wins that will really make a statement but it'll need a much more positive approach than we had at Barnsley. I went to the last Cardiff away game last season and we passed them to pieces for half an hour. Then, one setback and our heads dropped along with our ambition. Instead we should do the same as yesterday and the same as Barcelona did at Wembley. Press them and pass them to despair. Don't willingly concede one yard. And if there's a setback, persist. Pressure, pressure, pressure.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 18 September 2011 Posted 18 September 2011 Bit premature but our run-in looks pretty much as tough as it could be as well.

Personally, I just want to rib Curtis Davies for turning us down to "play in the Premiership." quote} I don't want to think about us conceding six goals for the rest of the season let alone in one match. We've had one clean sheet let's go for another and another. And let's go for a win at Cardiff on Wednesday and then wins, one by one, in the rest. Effort, application and ruthlessness. Let the opposition do the worrying. Alexander the Great had the right idea with winning - he never lost a battle in 11 years and every one an away game. He made an art form of letting his opponents worry and we need to establish the footballing equivalent.
