drc Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 Positives - We have a strong second string that had a good run out but unfortunately didn't get the result - Schlupp is still performing good - Michael Johnson is on his way back, getting 90 minutes under his belt - Lee Peltier showed he can fill in as a centreback - Michael Balls fitness seems better - We know for sure that Chris Weale offers nothing extra - Sean S:t Ledger had a decent game - Dyer, Moussa and Howard - got some good matchfitness The changes Sven made gave these players above the chance to gain fitness and show that they want to compete for the starting 11. We didn't put out a bad team, Howard, Ball and Weale maybe shouldn't have played if we really wanted a strong team but well well. Negatives - I just feel athat Neil Danns is a little bit lightweight - We lost - As someone was saying wee seem to lack a bit of that winning-morale Let's hope we'll get something out of the sundays game, I don't think it'll be easy Do anyone who wnt to the game have any player ratings.
nuttytimmy Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 I agree with much of what you've said there. Those players that had a point to prove certainly put in a decent shift (Howard, Dyer) whilst Schlupp reaffirmed his potential as a regular first teamer. I was horrendously disappointed with Weale. What you say about a 'winning morale' is interesting. We should have won the game, but perhaps this result was down to weariness at having to play an extra 30 minutes and the luck involved in a penalty shoot-out than having a poor mentality. I think a 2-2 result on Sunday would not be a bad one away from home...

isaidno Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 Who else got stuck in the away fans car park at the stadium ? . Who's bright idea was it to stack all the cars together so no-one could move
hackneyfox Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 You have got to be kidding right? Sven's job is on the line, we need to be winning these games otherwise he is out. How do you know Sven's job is on the line?
Fox92 Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 You have got to be kidding right? Sven's job is on the line, we need to be winning these games otherwise he is out. I think a draw would be good in this type of game - another strong squad looking for promotion. Its games such as Barnsley we need to be winning. But, its not as easy as that and if the result on Sunday was 2-2 I'd be fairly happy. Remember, we have Middlesbrough after Cardiff. Both very tough games.
hackneyfox Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 Must be true then. Does Liam have anything to say on the subject?

Simmo86 Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 I'd take a point on Sunday if someone offered it to me right now. Saying that, I think we'll beat them!
artursteppe Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 All this talk of Sven being axed is absolute TOSH. An average ref against Brizzle and the trees and we'd be third in the table and we haven't even started playing yet. Some peoples brains are 'mush', like the French and journalists!
David Guiza Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 As you requested some player ratings I think I'd go for: Weale - 6 - average Weale game, didn't really have a great deal to do other than a slow motion save and the two goals Pantsil - 7 - thought he had a decent game, got forward well also Mills - 6 - don't really know what happened with their first but Mills and Ball seemed to be in the middle of nowhere, won a the majority of challenges St Ledger - 7 - motm for me, solid. Would say deserves a starting place but that would mean unsettling a back four that has just kept a clean sheet. Ball - 6 - faded massively towards the end but that's expected. Thought he had a decent game overall though. Moussa - 6 - flashes of decent play but overall non existent. Johnson - 7 - thought he looked very competent just in front of the back four, held on to the ball well also. Danns - 6 - very average, seemed to be moving position every 5mins as well. Dyer - 6 - still the same old Dyer, running into blind allies, crossing without looking. But occasional flashes of brilliance. Schlupp - 7 - played very well, ran Keinan ragged, superb turn for Howards goal as well. Howard - 6 - usual Howard game, gives us something different as per but just not good enough for a promotion chasing side. - - Peltier - 7 - had Earnshaw in his pocket, looked more than capable at centre back. Abe - 6 - didn't really do much, extra time was like a Friendly for the majority Fernandes - 6 - ditto
David Guiza Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 Haha yeah, didn't think anybody deserved any lower or higher to be fair. Nobody had a poor game but nobody was outstanding either, maybe higher for St Ledger.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 You have got to be kidding right? Sven's job is on the line, we need to be winning these games otherwise he is out. We need to be beating one of the best sides in the division, away, at a place we're notoriously gash at? Give me a break.
Christoph Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 Just a shame that all our fringe players wont be getting much game time, with this cup, it let them play. As with a good team you need a good amount of player, so hope some of the bigger names dont want to leave
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 22 September 2011 Posted 22 September 2011 Lots of positives. The squad is beginning to shape up, and there will be plenty of competition for places.

I think our 2nd XI will prove to be a big advantage for us as the season goes on when other clubs will suffer more from injuries, suspensions and fatigue than us.
