paddy Agyemang Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 Jay Spearing isn't worth £6m yh i know but looking at a realistic offer aha
davieG Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 We should try to help these 'big' clubs I say let him go there on loan provided they guarantee him so many starts/appearances and for a 'reasonable' fee.

I really do like schlup and am happy for him to get the odd 15mins, but honestley i think he'll improve with a loan spell back in L1 as i fear that's his standard... for now
Ric Flair Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 I don't agree that he should go out on loan at the minute, he proved his worth at League One level last season and has followed that up with his goals against further League One & League Two opposition. It's better for him to gain experience in The Championship with us, I think a goal or two at this level and he could really fulfill his potential with us. We also aren't blessed with that many attacking options, he's got a massive role to play this season here.

Totally agree, we have a gem in Schlupp and we must make sure we handle his development correctly. I'm glad Sven is giving him run-outs and not just sending him out on loan again, the lad has enormous potential and the best way for him to realise it is to give him a chance at Championship level. I personally think that once he breaks his duck, there'll be no stopping him.
blue blood Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 Good press all round. Schlupp should be happy he is being watched by premiership scouts as it shows he is improving. Sven is doing the right thing by asking the board to tie him into a new deal with better sign on clauses/salary etc etc. It shows testament to Schlupp's development. He had a new deal in April and now looks set to be offered another new deal. Schlupp won’t go anywhere until January at the earliest and i think he would be a luxury signing for a team in Jan. He would need to hit the ground running half way through a premiership season - that’s a big step up.. It is best all round for him to continue in his current stride while he is learning 1st team football. If he fills his potential then he will be a premiership footballer for many years - hopefully with us
Finnegan Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 Hope Sven holds onto him, he's better than more than half the signings Sven's made this season
Fox92 Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 This story may not even be true, but just incase it is, why would Schlupp want to move to Stoke? They are not a big club, he wouldn't hardly get a touch because of the horrible long football they play, and in my opinion it is not a move forward. Obviously Liverpool may attract him, but if I was him, I'd put everything into one and take into consideration whether he is going to play at Anfield. The lure of Liverpool is big, and if he was to leave, I wish him luck, but I would stay at Leicester if I was him. We are moving in the right direction and he has just come into the team at the right time. But I suppose, in a way, its good if Premier League clubs are looking at him, because it shows where he has come from and what he has achieved. Hopefully he will stay here for a few seasons first before making a decision. I think he can be a good player for us.
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 For me Schlupp is the future... from what i've seen of him so far I think he has the potential to be an important striker for City for years to come. He's strong, he's quick and can finish. With the correct coaching he can realise the potential he clearly has. Selling him would be a major mistake IMO and would still demonstrate that we are a 'selling club'.. with the financial backing we now have I dont think that we have to be anymore. Keep him, develop him, enjoy him... end of
Guest Col city fan Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 Jay Spearing isn't worth £6m Interesting you bring up Jay spearing. IMO he is exactly the type of young, tough midfielder that we should have signed, if available of course. I was impressed with his loan spell at City and think he has an exemplary attitude to the game. 6 mill? Having paid 5 for Mills, yeah why not?
mackiepas Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 I was worried until I saw it was daily mirror story...
FoxesFan123 Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 Once Nugent and Gally are fit, I wonder if he will still get game time.

We overpaid for Mills imo his valuation was probably near £3-4m mark, Jay Spearing is a good player without a shadow of doubt but he is not worth £6m more likely £3-5m. But money isn't a objective anymore so why not bring him in January

Why do we always do this to our players? Schulpp isn anywhere near the level of those two yet, so you would turn down £10million? He is doing ok, progressing, for what its worth I would send him out on loan for a season, I think a whole year at a League 1 club where he would hopefully score 20 goals would be far better off than being a bit part player in a team that's under severe pressure. and do any of you actually watch Stoke or do you repeat all the bullshit cliches from the media etc? Yes they are direct from corners and throw ins in the final third, however you dont become a top half PL side by just "hoofing" it all game, there was a spell v Man Utd where they played them off the pitch in the middle 3rd for 25-30 mins.

Guest MattP Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 Who said this anyway, his agent Possible, they will think nothing of unsettling a club or player to try and get a few more quid in the pocket somehow.
Thracian Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 Once Nugent and Gally are fit, I wonder if he will still get game time. Schlupp always looks a far more dangerous and competitive player than Gallagher to me. And more effective than Vassell. I agree with Ric - he's got an important role to play here and I see no reason why that should change. Perhaps Sven will finally look at the idea of using more fire power and even explore Middlesbrough idea of 3-5-2. I long wondered why we really need a back four when teams rarely play more than two up front and having five in midfield would blunt a greater proportion of attacks at source. It's a great system played well but you do need the right men on the outside of the five. And the right organiser in the back three. Tunchev comes to mind, yet again!

Thracian Posted 28 September 2011 Posted 28 September 2011 What about Heskey! Haha i actually saw Alex McLeish quoted as saying Heskey's could make a decent centre-back!.
Finnegan Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 Fantastic to see the lad get a league goal today. Great reaction from his team mates, the crowd and the lad himself. Tek a bow, son!
Ric Flair Posted 1 October 2011 Posted 1 October 2011 Destined to be an absolute star this boy is, Sven has pulled a blinder by throwing him in this season and not loaning him out again. Fearless.
