marbelladave Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 I have been going on for some months (more so in recent weeks) that we really need a decent first team coach to work under Sven. This morning several 'football rumours' sites are suggesting that Sven is looking to bring in Schteve in that role while moving himself 'upstairs' to the position of 'Director of Football'. This is very much the kind of move I had in mind, but Steve McClaran.......... Might appeal to the owners though, if there is one thing better than an ex-England manager at the club, it's two ex-England managers.......
Bugg Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 And what are these "football rumour sites" Football Rumours
marbelladave Posted 21 October 2011 Author Posted 21 October 2011 Would have McClaren in as coach in a jiffy Schteve in a condom, cool........
marbelladave Posted 21 October 2011 Author Posted 21 October 2011 Football Rumours Thank you, the clue was in the post..... Repeated on Bentleys. Has a sort of horrible fascination about it.
cc_star Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 We occasionally lack enough creativity without brolly man coaching it out of them too
marbelladave Posted 21 October 2011 Author Posted 21 October 2011 We occasionally lack enough creativity without brolly man coaching it out of them too He was 'creative' enough to coach United to win the Champions League, three Premierships and a few odd cups...... And he won the Dutch league last season, brolly or not!
Babylon Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Thank you, the clue was in the post..... You said several.
Corky Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 He would be a good addition as a coach. Natural successor to Sven when he moves on
Guest MattP Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Bring in Keegan and the turnip while we are at it.
marbelladave Posted 21 October 2011 Author Posted 21 October 2011 Being serious for a moment, I find the negativity quite surprising. Schteve is, without doubt an excellent coach, but severely limited as a manager. I think in combination with Sven it could work really well. His media image is clearly an issue with some of you, but looking past that I think his coaching skills and tactical ability are pretty much what we need, in fact I think I could live with that. One thing we do not need is for him to succeed Sven as manager, look at his recent history, 1st team coach at Twente and they win the league, manager at Wolfsburg and it goes horribly wrong......

Sven and Schteve... the most uninspiring management team on the bench EVER.
marbelladave Posted 21 October 2011 Author Posted 21 October 2011 Sven and Schteve... the most uninspiring management team on the bench EVER. Personally I think Sven, Faz and Stowell are more deserving of that accolade.....
Finchy Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 I can't understand Schteve, he clearly has something. With Boro he finished 7th in the Premiership, got them to the UEFA cup final and he won the league cup. Then at Twente he won the league. But then you see what he did with England, Wolfsburg and Forest. It's very odd, maybe he just got lucky with Boro and Twente.
Babylon Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Personally I think Sven, Faz and Stowell are more deserving of that accolade..... You think the wally would inspire the players with his ginger island hair cut?

You think the wally would inspire the players with his ginger island hair cut? McClaran seems to work best as a 'technical' coach, give him decent players and he will get them playing 'proper' football, man management and inspiration does not seem to be his strong suit, though he did well enough in Boro's Uefa cup run in 2006. Again, being serious, McClaran is a fine coach and possibly one of the few coaches that Sven would be prepaired to 'move upstairs' for, whether the pairing would be dynamic (pashuun!) enough is a genuine concern, after all his best years were probably at United with Ferguson cracking the whip. I genuinely can't make my mind up about this, I don't think he is a long term solution to anything for us, but short term, I bet he could get us playing as a proper team..... He's ginger, hydrophobic and speaks with a fake Dutch accent, whats not to like?.......
flowwolf Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Would hate him to have anything to do with us . He is a spent force. It was Ferguson who won all before him not Brolly man and subsequent success for Man unt has proved that. Oh lord I do hope this is just a wind up.
teblin Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Personally I think Sven, Faz and Stowell are more deserving of that accolade..... Hmmm that may just by codswallop. You forget rob Kelly.
Mack Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 It's wilderness time for these rumours sites. They post enough bollocks when things are actually going on. This sounds like dog shit to me.
Corky Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 One thing we do not need is for him to succeed Sven as manager, look at his recent history, 1st team coach at Twente and they win the league, manager at Wolfsburg and it goes horribly wrong...... This is the key issue. I don't think he'd be the right fit for us as manager, but the temptation to move him up from coach would be high, as no compensation would need to be paid.
MrSpaM Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 I'm not sure if the forest fans would be annoyed by this, or rolling around on the floor in hysterics
frankiesgrandad Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Sshtop .. sshtop ... Your having a laugh ! The only way dutch Steve will come here is if the bloke in the filbert fox outfit rings in sick on matchday ! Just Imagine him talking about Jeff schlupp ... Would be funny
dannythefox Posted 21 October 2011 Posted 21 October 2011 Really hope this wont happen hes a proper cock!

Unless you have any details regarding his roles at these clubs, they're just mere titles. Did he have different jobs at Twente and Wolfsburg? I wasn't under the impression that he did...
