acooling08 Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Just wondering if everyone has pulled their noses out of his arse yet? He was average against Watford, and distinctly average again today. I lost count of the amount of times he gave the ball away today. He can play a simple pass but so can the rest of our midifield. He's certainly nothing special. Much rather see Danns, Fernandes or Gally starting in the midfield. Of course that won't happen, as Johnson is a Sven signing so therefore is immune to being benched.
leicesterisme Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Oh my, you really are clueless. Johnson was our best player on Wednesday that was clear to see. Today he didn't peform, but who did?
Fox92 Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Still questionable to me, but I'd like to see him along side Danns against West Ham with two wingers (thats wingers, Sven, wingers!). He has no pace though, just like King, Wellens and Abe.

acooling08 Posted 22 October 2011 Author Posted 22 October 2011 You. Know. Jack. Shit Nice argument there. You sure put my opinion to the sword.
Kitchandro Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Oh my, you really are clueless. Johnson was our best player on Wednesday that was clear to see. Today he didn't peform, but who did? I thought he was OK on Wednesday but I never saw anything special, no defence splitting passes, he didn't skin anyone, he didn't try anything out of the ordinary to try and break them down, he just played it simple and often sideways, I thought Abe was far better. I'm not having a go because almost everyone was poor today but he really wasn't that good on Wednesday. None of the midfielders are performing consistently and that is worrying.

Apart from the ball through to Beckford and when he beat about 3 men in the 1st half and laid it off to Wellens in the box

Didn't know an anchor man had to do that. Do you want him to wipe everyone's backsides while he's beating the whole team by himself?
Kent Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 He's the most composed player on the ball that we have, coupled with great technique. Deserves to start for me.
THEFATBASTARD Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Fact is, we have got to stop being a rehabilitation HQ....for every player in football....sorry...carrying passengers ain't working for us..
funkyrobot Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Johnson was a class act at man city. He's been out for so long that it will take quite a few games to get back to the form he showed, assuming his injuries haven't permanently affected his ability. I'd have him in the side. I think rightly, more questions are being asked of wellens, abe and king.
Corky Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Much rather see Danns, Fernandes or Gally starting in the midfield. Of course that won't happen, as Johnson is a Sven signing so therefore is immune to being benched. What a strange comment. Two of the players who you want to come in are Sven signings, so they must've been benched at some point.
Kitchandro Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Didn't know an anchor man had to do that. Do you want him to wipe everyone's backsides while he's beating the whole team by himself? So he's the anchor man, so what, he still didn't really do anything special. My point is it wasn't a performance worth raving about, like I said, I'm not having a go, it was an OK performance.
Kitchandro Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Apart from the ball through to Beckford and when he beat about 3 men in the 1st half and laid it off to Wellens in the box Give any midfielder in our squad 3 games against a team of Watford's quality and I'm pretty sure they'd all do that kind of thing once. But in terms of a general impact on the game, he didn't make that much of a difference.
Callabinho Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Johnson hasn't played for the best part of two years, he IS an amazingly gifted footballer, who is currently lacking match practice.
Number 6 Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 Looks brilliant on the ball and if we can get him anything close to his best then we probably have the best midfielder in the Championship. However, it didn't work for him today. He's never going to run at people and take them on, which when coupled with Wellens and Abe in the same mid-field, leaves us looking rather pedestrian.
teblin Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 I only remember him giving it away a couple of times.
Kitchandro Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 I only remember him giving it away a couple of times. When you're losing 2-0, it's not all about keeping possession, it's sometimes more about taking risks in an attempt to score goals. There are too many players (and especially today) who would rather keep possession on the halfway line than run with the ball and commit defenders. In truth we don't really have a player who can do that.

Kitchandro Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 It's amazing how you turned keeping possession into a bad thing. We kept possession in the first half today, did we score? No. We kept possession at Cardiff away, did we score? No. We kept possession at Birmingham - what happened there then? Possession doesn't win you games on it's own, scoring goals is much bigger factor.

I agree that we currently can't turn possession into goals which is our downfall. But generally keeping possession is a GOOD thing.
dannythefox Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 The lad is quality he finds so much time on the ball its unreal and he never panics either oh and his pass completion has probably been the best out of everyone in the last two games!
Kitchandro Posted 22 October 2011 Posted 22 October 2011 I agree that we currently can't turn possession into goals which is our downfall. But generally keeping possession is a GOOD thing. Yes, but I think you're missing my point. I'm not slating Johnson for Wednesday, I thought he had a decent game. I simply don't think it was worth raving about. Today, I thought he was poor, as were others. He was negative in possession when he had opportunities to run into a gap, and on the occassions he did try to play forward the ball was lost.
