Let me say right from the beginning that I'm as disappointed as everyone that Sven has gone. The decision was ill-judged and premature but, we have to see the bigger picture. Clearly the owners are incredibly ambitious as evidenced by the money they've spent and the ruthless way they've acted over Sven. They're determined to get us into the Premiership and establish us there. It might not be pretty but, surely that's what we all want. Imagine being a Coventry fan and having to settle for years of mediocrity with no ambition, just a slow lingering decline. We need to get behind the owners and whoever they appoint (apart from Steve McClaren) because, in the end, we all want the same thing.

It was a bad decision made by an ill informed board who really don't have a clue what they're doing, they shadowed Milan Mandaric for about 6 months what they learnt in that time is all they know about running a football club, and lets face it sacking a manager after 13 games and giving him public backing just a few weeks before is a very Mandaric thing to do.

Thankfully the serious amount of money they are willing to invest makes up for their obvious flaws, I just hope they get the right perosn in and actually give them a bit of time to get it right.

Let us be clear. I like Sven, BUT, he brought in 13 players - many he had managed before, but still had no plan on what system he wanted to play. That is not good! Most managers with money to spend, would bring in players to perform specific tasks within an organised approach.

Most of the players Sven brought in are quality, but it may be the case that we had some good performances in spite of Sven, not because of his strategy or tactics.

Overall however with only 8 points from the 8 matches against teams below us and remaining undefeated and with most of our victories against teams in the top half of the table there will obviously be conflicting opinions on Sven's capability.

My view is that he should have been getting more consistency than we are currently showing.

I also think things have been happening behind the scenes. The body language and attitude ( especially against Millwall ) over the last three matches has been absolutely awful. There have been rumours that all was not well in the dressing room and Steve Howard did not seem that bothered when he was interviewed that Sven had gone.

Under Sven, it is difficult to imagine any Leicester side could ever have played with real commitment or energy and excitement.

Fully support the owner's, i liked Sven but it was not working and i said to my mate at the Millwall match that the game reminded me of the Craig Levein era during it's worst run and we we're so inconsistent that i really could not see us getting promoted :(

Personally i think Sven was stumped himself at why it was not working and that is why he had to go, which is a shame since i really wanted thing's to work out.

The owners did give him thirteen month's and all the financial backing he required, relaid the pitch twice, revamped the training facilities and Sven knew at the start exactly what was required of him.

Anyone comparing the owner's to Milan is having a laugh, Milan would of sacked him at the end of last season :P

I understand Sven's departure wasn't a reaction to Millwall. #lcfc - 35 points from possible 81 since, and including, Cardiff away last term

I support the club rather than the owners and have no doubts that they made the wrong call. Whoever they bring in will stand a very good chance of landing in the top 6 on the merit of Sven's purchases. I've been chewing my nails down on our inconsistent form, but the maths of the situation by no means says that we're in a crisis. It's been a turbulent start to the season for most teams, with 12 teams all within 6 pts of 6th. Welcome to the Championship.

Not that I dislike Top & co - they've endeared themselves to me, I'm just doubting their wisdom.

lol

So, if someone new has a very good chance of making the top 6 with this squad, how did you come to the conclusion that Sven, who had us in 13th, was wrongly sacked?

They've sacked a good manager who was able to attract good players and once in the Prem would have been able to attract elite players.

They've sacked a good manager without giving him enough time for his work to show dividends (epsecially considering the injuries to Nugent and Beckford this season)

They've sacked a good manager before having an even better manager ready to take over.

They are naive and have shown bad faith.

It's probably due to hearing supporters like you saying we need to get rid of Sven but whatever the reason it's far too early. they don't understand football and certainly not the championship.

"giggle" all you want at a person who has a different view to you MarbellaDave. We probably have little in common.

What's the use if he can't use them properly?

It was clear his work wasn't showing dividends, I think 13 games probably is enough time to show things aren't working this year.

How do you know that?

Sven's been naive, and has produced bad results. In-fact, I don't feel they've been that unfaithful, Sven knew full-well he had to get us up this year, he was failing.

Fuck supporting the owners.

Apart from slinging cash around they've done nothing to persuade me that 1. they know what the fuck they are doing and 2. they are acting in the best long term interests of the club.

Take away their money and all I see is a bunch of nobodies who have absolutely no clue how English football works.

Would love them to prove me wrong but can't see it myself.

The main argument for me having more of an idea of what they're doing is investing in things like the training facilities, they aren't as obvious as the usual thing.

I must admit though it'd be interesting what they'd do without money.

We will see people Young/Tanner/Stringer all start to say how they wanted him to go now because they know Top is watching them, same as when Pearson left they will forgot their own opinion and start rattling off whatever the club tells then too.

Pathetic.

Who was it that brought Sven to Leicester in the first place? And then gave him the biggest summer transfer budget this club has EVER had?

The ingratitude of some sections of the fanbase is incredible, and shames us all.

Because when I talked about the "maths of the situation" I was talking about the bigger picture in the League: points relative to the rest of the league and not the arbitrary position indicator which means very little at this stage of the season - especially with as much congestion as there is in the Championship. Did our position above B'ham when we played them make you expect us to win? I hope not because we were only 4/5 points ahead of them having played 2 more matches.

Maybe off topic but when we get a new manager do you think he will spend another 12 million in the next transfer window?

Will he spend it who knows

Will they back him to that tune if he wants it YESSSSSSSSSSSSS

They might have money, but they have now shown they know Jack Squat , about the game. Our chances of promotion have nose dived.

Dont get Thai'd up with the sentimental aspects of the decision DANGEROUS, think we were all abit shocked at the timing, but onwards and upwards i hope

I still think Sven would have done it and should have been given more time.

But I am not the pay master. If they feel Sven or whoever is not gonna do it then get rid.

I have always said why do clubs tell managers they have 2 3 or 4 games to sort it.

That helps no one IMO the minute you give a deadline your not happy so get rid.

Why fanny about your doing no one favours.

So i still back our owners.

I sure hope so, but I think it will be much harder now. I liked the pun.

The new owners have no interest in Leicester City F.C. we are purely a vehicle for them to promote their business within a global market the second it no longer makes financial sense they will be out of here, end of!

Personally I believe they have a two year plan, if we are not in the premier league within this time period then they will be forced to regroup and I don't think paying out for our players wages will be on that particular agenda, hence their swift action I don't think they have luxury of time!

Are you serious?......:giggle:

What exactly have the owners done wrong?

Hi Dave....

I thought your posts when I joined the forum was interesting and intelligent. But recent months have shown that you don'tt care about long term strategies.

We are in an excellent position to take the league. You have seen red cards affecting points achieved and players underperform.

If Sven had the owners faith he could slowly build his strategy until we were unbeatable. We had clean sheets and just had to get the attack flowing. You should know it will take a few steps more with that approach. He could have choosen the easy road that, among others, Thracian wants. Attack, attack and attack and hope we stuff the opponent before we get stuffed.....

Look at the money they've put into the stadium and Belvoir Drive, It suggests they intend to be here for the long haul and are no fly-by-night operators.

The only way they'd pull out is if the fanbase were deluded enough to demand it.

Through our inconsistent performances we were doing a good job of doing that ourselves.

To be fair, every time I hear Top speak he seems to make sense.

I also like the fact they looked at Sven's long term record and failure to win back-to-back games etc.

I didn't really want Sven to go, but after hearing Top speak I am more reasured that he is making thoughtout decisions.

In fact I might go as far as saying he quite impressed me.

Those investments are chicken feed in the scheme of things, not sure what a fly by night operator is but these guys are business men, successful business men and I've never met one yet that's not ruthless.
