My Movember - Your Movember

Right,

I've not seen anyone else post there's up, but in a bid to highlight, support, and promote men's health and specifically men's cancer charity (that of which is poorly promoted and supported to women's), I've joined the Movember cause.

I've personally been affected by cancer, as no doubt most of you have, but my Uncle recently was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, and thankfully after having his prostate removed, and having further treatments, he's still alive to tell the tale, and promote awareness to an unforgiving illness, but one that can be be prevented if taking the right precautions etc.

So I'm going to be getting involved with Movember, and I would welcome you to do the same, if only so someone asks you why you have grown a silly moustache, and the topic of prostate and testicular cancer is at least something that crosses that persons mind for that minute, day, or week, prompting them to consider the subject.

Here's my mospace: http://mobro.co/PaulKellystache

Perhaps Mark wouldn't mind, if other's share theirs, and for those who might not get involved to give charitably to those who are: friends, family, and colleagues.

:trumpet:

Now if only I could find a emoticon with a moustache!

So when you see loads of moustachioed fellas around town, at the pub, and at the game, you too can wink and nod in appreciation whatever facial fixture you and they can muster!

A couple of us did it last year.

Nothing says sexy like a guy with dark hair and a ginger moustache lol

I'll sponsor you when I see some pics

Good lad. I'll of course be starting on Tuesday, so I'll keep phooties coming.

I'll be involved either by growing one. although I'm pretty much bearded all the while or through sponsoring.

I've already lost a brother through this awful disease it's not known as the silent killer for nothing, It's been disgracefully neglected by Government, scientist and the medical profession.

The current test for it is next to useless and often results in unnecessary invasive painful surgery because it cannot determine between benign or malignant and therefore results in a biopsy of which 2 out of 3 are benign.

I would get involved but I can't grow a mustache for the life of me, sideburns fine, hair fine, to a certain extent a roy keane beard - but not a 'tache.

So I'll just sponsor a few of you when I see pics.

I'm gonna attempt this, although, even at 29, my facial hair growth is a joke. My best attempts at a moustache will result in a stubbly-french-pirate-eqsue tash, but will give it my best go.

Im aaaaaaaaaall over it this year :)

Its a bit of a sad case that male cancers dont seem to get enough attention, considering how many of us have been affected by it in one way or another. Hopefully my big hair face will help with that.

Mutton Chops anyone??

The whole of my work department are doing this, with random styles allocated. Will be interesting to see if I can actually grow anything!

Who got "the Hitler"

I can honestly say I was sweating at the thought of getting it, but it was the head partner of all people! Although he only has to do it on the last day. Can't imagine it'd go down too well for a month in this line of work.

I might do it on the last day, if I got a few donations from generous FT posters.... I'd give photographic timed evidence too. Must be worth a pound from every poster who reads this...or maybe more? :sweating: Any takers?

Cheers DavieG.

Trying to post up my 1st day etc, so you can see the canvass I'm working with, but the movember site is crashing. So it may well be tomorrow!

Btw, I still stand by my post above, however the caveat is that I will spend an entire day with an 'Adolph' should i reach £250 in donations. I am currently at £110, so it's possible, if posters gave a £1 each.

I can also show my post-hospitalisation pictures once I've finished my 'Adolph-tache day'
