GH1 Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Why is it a joke ? WTF as Sven done since Inter ? Bollox all, thats what..... The fookin Sky Sports generation seriously fook me off..... What are you on about sky sports generation? I'd rather have Sven than Davies he did manage a lot of international sides in that time. Can you imagine Davies managing us in the premiere league? Think about it....... Course not We can do better
RedHux Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Sleazy sod as well was too busy going to orgies, (Never proven) but I bet its true :D Oh yeah, forgot about that.
Chap84 Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 I dont think any of these names will be the next manager. We must all be patient, the owners have put a lot of their own money in, and nobody would sack Sven without a 'better' option already sorted. What's in the press is paper talk. The truth will come out in time, but I think that an even higher profile name, possibly a top european manager will be coming our way. (No I don't have inside info) I suspect that the reason that Sven went was that he failed to meet a key point of his (performance related) contract and any renegotiation from either side failed. Calm down, trust in Top, and wait for the roller coaster to continue in a few days !!!! I totally agree with all that! And I don't want Billy bloody Davies as are next gaffer!
GH1 Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Billy Davies finished above Sven last season in the league. It's really not that mad. I loved Sven, but even I was getting the impression he didn't have a clue about this league. Good point, I was no fan of Sven I'm just comparing him to Davies
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 :D Oh yeah, forgot about that. Is that why he's got bags under his eyes like an elephants scrotum, because he stays up late?
MC Prussian Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Di Matteo for me. Another Swiss to add to the growing contingent, plus he's from where I live, so I could talk to him in local lingo.
Ozwin Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 So the midland's journeyman, the Championship's cling on and Sloth from the Goonies? Yaaaay, handful of the best right there yo. God we're going to be in this league forever.
MGLCFC Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Imagine how Davies would get on in the Prem? But we aren't there yet and I'm of the opinion that of all the candidates mentioned he has the best CV to get us there. He's done well at three clubs in this league on limited budgets. Whilst not the most likeable bloke, just like Warnock, he gets the job done effectively.
seenitall Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 name one team other than Derby he has got promoted?

Davies did it once and Derby now has the record to prove it. He did nothing with Nothingham other than spend their monies.
Kitchandro Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 name one team other than Derby he has got promoted? And how many teams has Sven got promoted to the Premiership?
Corky Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 I'm not a member of the Sky Sports generation but I want to be in the best league in the world.
seenitall Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 And how many teams has Sven got promoted to the Premiership? ahh right - we are proud of Billy's one promotion and subsequent sacking for being a bit poo but cannot look at Sven's record as anything other than shite because it was a long time ago - FFS he won Serie A and 21 other titles in his career and was the most successful England manager for a generation, qualifying for all tournaments comfortably and reaching 2 quarter finals - but Billy did get Derby up once so its alright
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Out of all the managers who have been shortlisted for the job, Davies is the only manager that standout. He may be a little ****, but he will certainly at least get us into the play offs, which he has done with Derby,Preston and Forest twice. Plus he has had a shoestring budget with these clubs so I am certain that he is very interested in the job. Please Top bring Davies in!!!!!

FallenAngel Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Why is everyone panicking about this apart shortlist when it's something that has been assumed by fans and the media. The club has said nothing about Jones Daves or Dowie being in the frame, they have only said they have received 100+ applications and will be taking their time to carefully consider them.
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Shoestring budget? Huh? Are you for real? Yeah fine which big signings did he make for Forest?
SMX11 Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Yeah fine which big signings did he make for Forest? He spent around 6-8 million two years ago plus a lot of expensive loanees.
sphericalfox Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Yeah fine which big signings did he make for Forest? I didn't say he made any BIG signings. Ask any Flopist fans how much money he spent both on transfers and wages, and it exceeds most in the last 3 years. He also paid handsomely for some players on Derby's books when heading to the Prem. Making statements like 'shoestring' are blatantly untrue. All he did was moan about not getting enough money, when the boards where stating to him that he had had enough and still wasn't successful with it (bar Derby's rise and ultimately record breaking drop)

sphericalfox Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 yeah its nothing really compared to the resources we'd give him And he would waste this, and still say he didn't get enough. We should be aiming for the stars not the gutter
MGLCFC Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 You can't argue with the fact that under Davies' stewardship, Forest, Preston and Derby have always been there or thereabouts in the promotion shake up. Whether you like him or not, just like Warnock, he knows how to get a team into contention (and on more than one occasion) and surely this is what Topp needs to look at when he appoints his next manager. Who has the best CV to get us out of THIS league - Davies must be quite high on this list. Let's worry about the prem should we ever get there.
Kitchandro Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 And he would waste this, and still say he didn't get enough. We should be aiming for the stars not the gutter If he had wasted it at Forest they wouldn't have finished in the play-offs twice in a row, and their fans wouldn't wish they'd not got rid of him. It was very difficult to compete with Newcastle and West Brom in his first season yet he very nearly pulled it off. The second season was less impressive but not bad by any means.

Contention, so Sven wasn't going to get us in contention? I'm not picking a fight, I'm just saying that he's another 'nearly man'. A manager who given lots of money achieved 'almost success'. It could be argued that Derby went up to quickly and were victims of their success, but nevertheless, he didn't know how to deal with it, and blamed the board. Just as he did at Nothingham. I'm not calling his character, I'm just calling the fact that it's quite a high possibility given his history that he would only replicate his previous form.
