Guest Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 I mentioned that Fryatt scored for Hull on saturday in the match thread and got a vitriolic reaction from a few supporters which surprised me. 1. I'm not a Fryatt homer, in fact I haven't mentioned the guy since the threads after he left 2. Hull are our promotion rivals - sitting above us in the league 3. Pearson just rejoined us from Hull 4. Pearson signed Matty from City for Hull 5. Matty was a good long serving player for us and a living part of City history What is it with the haters? Matty is a good and very intelligent footballer who knows how to score. I would compare him to Nugent, Nugent is the upgraded version of Matty, Intelligent but with the extra pace that matty lacked. I'm pretty sure that if Fryatt had a little extra pace he would have been a borderline England player. Can those haters try to contain their vitirol in future, most of us are not asking for Matty to come back or even think he'd make our first team but we should be allowed to mention his name when he scores or when he's in the news. Sort yourselves out.

Guest Bilo Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 OMG WHY DID WE EVER LET HIM GO!?! Didn't he go into a massive sulk when Pearson left? Hull have all that to look forward to......
Fox92 Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 He didn't have the pace, but almost every other aspect of his game was fine (I know he wasn't very good in the air either). He can finish and hold the ball up well. I appreciate what he did for the club, and I won't boo him on Saturday - just like I won't boo Hobbs either.
Guest ttfn Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Good player. The "Stop Talking About Fryatt" brigade are even more tiresome than those talking about Fryatt all the time.

Corky Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Yes, Fryatt scored yesterday, but he's gone and people need to move on. Does it have to be mentioned every time a former Leicester player scores?

Guest Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Moved to non-City related - sad when you look at some of the threads still in the city forum.
Dylan Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Not sure why everyone dislikes him now and slates him. Fair enough, he wouldn't be good enough to get into our starting team now; although he has scored 7 in 14 starts this season But he was great for us in the League One and PlayOff season, and I'm pretty sure everyone loved him back then. He may be gone now but at the end of the day, the man did a brilliant job for us and that shouldn't be forgotten. I won't be cheering on Hull, but I still keep an eye on Fryatt to see if he's scored/how he's doing and I hope he does well in the future (as well as he can do without affecting us of course), simply because of what he done for us.
davieG Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 Moved to non-City related - sad when you look at some of the threads still in the city forum. I moved it as he's no longer a City player but is still playing for another team and that is the criteria I base it on, when he stops playing then as an ex-Leicester player he's eligible to be in the LCFC forum. This may not suit everyone but there has to be some guideline to avoid bias. Can you identify which topics you feel are out of place in the LCFC forum. Your is unnecessary and unappreciated.

Fair enough, he wouldn't be good enough to get into our starting team now; although he has scored 7 in 14 starts this season I don't dislike him it's just boring that people STILL go on about such an average player who actually wanted to leave. He may have scored 7 goals, but a lot of what I've seen have been lucky deflections, balls bouncing off him and keeper errors.

I'm not saying I want him back here, cause we have better options now, but I won't slate him. As average as you say he may be, he was still great for us and helped us through some good times- some of the best I've had as a City fan (as I was too young to remember the MON days), so I'll always like him.

He'd need about 10 chances per goal. I liked him, but he was a MASSIVE confidence player who if he didn't score for about 1 game wouldn't score for the next 50 until one bounced off his arse.

Guest Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 It's not about hating him. It's about the fact that he has nothing to do with our club any more. Why don't you start a thread every time an ex-player scores or plays well for another team? I started the thread after some people took exception to my innocuous mention of him in the game thread. He's an ex-city player so clearly of interest to some of us on a Leicester City forum. If we can make 100 page threads about Maynard and the like and mention him in match threads I really don't see the problem with mentioning Fryatt. I don't very often and haven't called for him to come back, in fact I was glad to see him upgraded but the hating is ridiculous. And no matter what you say there is a lot of anger, hate and vitriol sent his way. There are many threads where we talk about ex-city players that's normal and healthy.
Maybes Posted 27 November 2011 Posted 27 November 2011 FFS can we all get over the love-child of the LCFC faithful Matty Fryatt. We've moved on and have a better striker in the form of David Nugent.

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 Whatever anyone think of him - it's surely advisable to put some pounds on him scoring against us, it's written in the stars isn't it?
Captain... Posted 28 November 2011 Posted 28 November 2011 FFS can we all get over the love-child of the LCFC faithful Matty Fryatt. We've moved on and have a better striker in the form of David Nugent. The only people that aren't over him are the ones that get angry at his very mention. Nobody on here wants him back, some people appreciate him for what he is, a limited championship player, and appreciate what he did for us. As a former player, somebody we have been linked to in the transfer market and someone scoring regularly for one of our close rivals in the league (for now) and soon to be opponents, it is relevant to mention. Last season a lot of people couldn't understand why our top goal scorer for the last 2 seasons was sold when we were struggling to score, and it was used as a stick to beat Sven with especially when he scored for Hull, but now he has been more than replaced with Nugent and Beckford and will soon be forgotten. If you want people to forget quicker stop acting like a dick whenever his name is mentioned, just ignore it.
