iamafox Posted 18 December 2011 Posted 18 December 2011 http://www.foxestalk...06#entry1991906 I said that at the time, some managers just haven't got a clue, it was obviously a signing out of desperation and now we're lumbered with him. We will not need another striker if he starts scoring goals on a regular basis, I'm sure he'll come good after January. That's only if we sign wingers who can pose an attacking threat and provide good service for the strikers.
harpendenfox Posted 18 December 2011 Posted 18 December 2011 Another DJ Campbell? As in another player who is successful elsewhere, but not with us? My reading of Beckford is that he struts like he's some tough nut, but that actually he is desparately low on confidence, and wants to feel wanted. If we encourage him, he might just deliver the goods for us. I remember watching some of his footwork when we played Brighton, which was either his debut or one of his first games. He looked a million dollars. I think he'll turn it around, as long as the naysayers don't destroy him first
accessory Posted 18 December 2011 Posted 18 December 2011 Beckford > Howard. This x 10. Beckford gave the attack impetus when he came on. He was far from the worst performer yesterday.
City Fox Posted 18 December 2011 Posted 18 December 2011 This x 10. Beckford gave the attack impetus when he came on. He was far from the worst performer yesterday. He's a striker paid to shoot yet didn't shoot? It's like a defender not making 1 tackle in a game would that be acceptable?
NewburyFox Posted 18 December 2011 Posted 18 December 2011 Apparently some of our fans jeered him when he came on yesterday? Is this true? No. Not at all. He's a striker paid to shoot yet didn't shoot? It's like a defender not making 1 tackle in a game would that be acceptable? He did shoot. Had a shot blocked and a header that went just wide. And yeh, because that's exactly the same.
Aylestone Fox Posted 18 December 2011 Posted 18 December 2011 When he came on he was out on the left and looked more like a winger in his first few minutes of action than Dyer did all game, the problem for me lies in the midfield,..Gallagher and Dyer are not wingers and dont take the full back on when in wide positions to get a cross in, which they need to do if Howards starting (and thats another argument altogether) King and Wellens didnt and doesnt work against a team like Doncaster,..I'd like to say Johnson and Fernandes start in the middle as I think they are both better than the current two in there. Also stick with Nuge and Becks up top,..Howard isnt the answer,.lets hope NP gets what he wants in the transfer window or else its going to be another wasted season in the wilderness when the expectation is so high..!
Guesty Posted 18 December 2011 Posted 18 December 2011 I agree with some of the other posters. Whilst he gives it the big time its probably all a front. Which is why now its all going wrong he doesn't seem to be able to sort it. Whilst we don't have to cheer him him we shouldn't be booing him before hes even touched the ball.
bluearmyfox23 Posted 18 December 2011 Posted 18 December 2011 I thought he looked really sharp yesterday and personally think some of the stick he gets is quite unfair. if u keep an eye on him he is allways making runs into space but never gets given the ball !! Also I would like to add that beckford is not a player who likes the ball to feet, he loves the ball in space where he can use his pace and run onto it. Take peterborough for instance I think he got 1 through ball and hit the post!! Finally I know he hasn't been great but the worse thing we can do is get on his back and drop his confidence even more!! Just cheer him on and im sure Pearson will get the best out of him. LCFC
hackneyfox Posted 18 December 2011 Posted 18 December 2011 He's obviously a confidence player and any that he had was probably destroyed yesterday. Does anyone have a reason as to why Howard would be played before Beckford? Doe anyone have a reason as to why Howard would ever start a game, he's an impact sub at best.
Bert Posted 18 December 2011 Posted 18 December 2011 Can't quite in iPhone now for some reason but in response to fleckney mike, no its not just £2.5m. There are add ons involved.
Kitchandro Posted 18 December 2011 Posted 18 December 2011 not proper football fans??? they have played and watched the game for years and years, but there not fans? i know there not leicester fans, i know a few people who follow the money men in saturday football midland alliance etc go where the moneys the best lower standard or even senior league and they are all proper football fans. Football players are generally not proper fans. It is a job for them and they have long since abandoned their strong feelings for the club they used to support by the time they actually make it to this level. In the main. Playing the game doesn't make you a fan, you are doing that for yourself.
Corky Posted 18 December 2011 Posted 18 December 2011 Apparently some of our fans jeered him when he came on yesterday? Is this true? Didn't hear anything mate. A few chants for him to come on near me.
Bert Posted 18 December 2011 Posted 18 December 2011 I thought there were some boos to be honest. Most people have said it was Donny though, so who knows.
acooling08 Posted 18 December 2011 Posted 18 December 2011 Thank god Pearson sees it to and dropped him 3 shots on target the whole game and 0 shots of any kind from Beckford in the 13+ minutes on the ptich Time to go. £4m your having a laugh This doesn't mean I'm totally anti Beckford. Howard, Nugent and the rest should be transfer listed after that shambles Well you just lost all credibility by suggesting we get rid of Nugent. 7 goals and tireless worker not enough for you?
