BNET Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Nigel Pearson and his squad has still a good possibillity to reach the play-off's, and hopefully it will happen with the right additions in the January transfer window. We have one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship in Schmeichel, so that is one to keep The right back position also looks ok with Peltier covering that, regarded as one of the best talents in the league Paul Konchesky has done ok, and one that would be regarded as a good left back at this level The central defence is a bit of a riddle and with SSL transfer listed, Matt Mills not performing at the level you would like, it is difficult to find the right blend. Bamba and Tunchev are also available and a good partnership should be able to build. So far both Sven and Nigel have not shown that they can solve this. A key is to find a player who is left footed and can be able to play at the left side in the defence. The four defenders mentioned should be good enough to cover in the middle. The midfield is not working as well as you would have liked and pace and creativity is lacking both wide and in the middle. Wellens and King can't really make it, Danns and Abe are both good players. Dyer and Gallagher can't play two games in a row at their highest level and that might be a management problem and not a player problem. Would be perfect to add one central midfielder and a wide player with pace. Jimmy Kebe, not doing as well as you would have liked at Reading, is a candidate, but for the central midfield position it might be difficult to find the ideal choice. Up front it should be enough power and skill to keep it going. Beckford and Nugent should be quality at this level. Schlupp has abillity and Howard is still a player that can perform at this level. Waghorn is also a good player that should be possible to get going again. The big question for Pearson is to find his momentum and start building from there. Sven did some terrible mistakes when he let Hobbs, Fryatt and Morrison leave. Young players who had established themselves in the team and performed well game in and game out, they were also key players in the squad with a bit of experience and knowledge about the club. Continuity is a key and should never be faulted. Players I would have liked to see in a City shirt and could be available are Ambrose (Crystal Palace), Howson (Leeds). Reading captain Jobi McAnuff. Hopefully we can build from the squad City have at the moment, add the right quality and see if that can bring us up the table and into the play-off's when May is coming. Was with you until you got drunk and started saying things like Howard could perform and Fryatt Hobbs and Morrisson should have been kept on.
Bausor Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Only by winning the playoffs but we have to get there first we are only 5 points away and it is possible IMO Its then really a lottery well not so much over the 2 legs but the final is IMO Keep the faith
TheAtkin'fenwa96 Posted 29 December 2011 Posted 29 December 2011 Kasper Pelts, tunch, mills, konchesky Bamba Kebe. Dyer ? Nugent beckford We need bamba in midfield, he's big, strong athletic and a ball winner. Dyer has to be in the side due mainly to his pace, and the fact he cannot be marked cause even he doesn't know what he's going to do next. Tunch back in the back line, experienced and will show mills the way forward, some complain about a lack of speed but he has positional awareness so he doesn't need it. Buy kebe from reading on the cheap due to his poor form there and then go out and buy a proper quality attacking midfielder who will do his defensive duties to. Maybe get cameron stewart from hull to battle with kebe for the RM spot. Send johnson back (waste of wages) and bring in a big target man (ched evans) or someone along those lines. Discuss.

leicesterseddon Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 Why does it HAVE to be this season? Can we not rebuild a dysfunctioning squad now, write off this season and give it a real go next season. A "quick fix" won't get us anywhere. Clearly, because the owners' interests in our club are not as long-term as they like to make out, whether people swallow it or not

A "quick fix" won't get us anywhere. Because we should have done that last season, I'm tired of waiting, I'm tired of being humuliated and watching smaller clubs with poor fanbases get to the Premier League whilst we continue to rot.
ithuriel Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 Season is only half way done, we are'nt that far off the play offs and the manager does have a little bit of money to spend it seem's. The right player's with the right attitude and thing's can change dramatically. Well, here's hoping
L4EV Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 Things could be worse, you could be a Leeds fan.

Richard Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 All the talk has been about it being this season. True but how many times do a team gain promotion in the same season as they sacked their manager half way through? I'm not confident on promotion this season anymore
accessory Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 Clearly, because the owners' interests in our club are not as long-term as they like to make out, whether people swallow it or not Like most of us, the owners want Premier League football for the club. But they trusted Sven to deliver and he let them down. How many tens of millions can they continue to throw at City until they decide their investment has been wasted?
Jordan Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 I'm hoping for these four things to happen. 1) City win, at the very least, 40 points in the remaining 23 games; 6th place is our target now. 2) Southampton and one of either West Ham or Middlesbrough have absolutely torrid second halves, particularly in their remaining games against the teams ahead of Leicester. 3) The awful bottom four teams play a little better in the 2nd half--yes, this means hoping Forest and Coventry beat our playoff rivals. 4) The teams battling for playoff places draw their games against each other, as one of those + a City win = 2 points gained on two teams. But in order for #1 to happen, Nigel Pearson is going to have to follow this advice: 1) Sign one really good defensive midfielder--one that can fit right into the starting lineup. There's a good reason why Nigel Pearson took Jay Spearing on loan at the end of the 2009/10 season. 2) Don't worry about signing a striker; we have a few good ones already. Rather, sign a replacement for Darius Vassell: someone that can play both on the wing and as forward. Nugent has a high work rate and high stamina, but if he has to go out and run up and down the wing all season, he's going to collapse. 3) Get a back-up wing back. Yuki Abe might be an OK short-term replacement for Lee Peltier if necessary, but we'd be in serious trouble if Paul Konchesky has an extended absence. 4) Give Wellens a breather. Despite his poor play, he's still guaranteed to be an important player in our squad this year, and we WILL need him in the second half. 5) Don't be afraid to use Neil Danns from time to time; if anything, he's versatile. 6) Use Gallagher off the bench from time to time, and for Christ's sake, work on corners with him. 7) Get rid of Michael Johnson and Michael Ball if they are surplus to requirements. Get other loanees to replace them if necessary; save the bulk of the spending money for quality, not quantity. 8) Tell Matt Mills that the next time he gets a red card you will punch him in his fvcking face as he walks into the tunnel. 9) Do something ridiculous to improve morale, e.g. taking the team to a strip club in London if they beat Palace on Monday. 10) Don't say another word to Ian Stringer for the remainder of the season. 11) Pray to whatever god you believe in for a win at Leeds on the final day. 12) If all of this works, but you've used up your prayer allowance on the Leeds game, then ask Kasper Schmeichel to save every attempt in a playoff penalty shootout, selling his soul to the devil before the game if necessary.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 Patience is needed (which i havent got but i hope the Thais have)
ithuriel Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 Patience is needed (which i havent got but i hope the Thais have) The owner's are succesful business men, they will have had a short term, medium term and long term business plan for Leicester, i think getting Pearson in is a good edge on bet's, short term may have failed but is not out of the window but Pearson is a man who can build something over time too.
Donut Posted 30 December 2011 Posted 30 December 2011 I genuinely believe our club is in the early stages of a serious meltdown.

Guest ttfn Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 We already have one.. Again, the solution is already here (once he's available and fit again) What do you see in Waghorn? Enthusiasm? Sure. But his first touch is awful, and any return to the side should be made on the basis that he's not allowed within 15 yards of any set piece.
