acooling08 Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 I actually don't agree - slow and ponderous though he his, Howard still gets in amongst it and creates space for others - Waghorn just wellies the ball whenever he gets it and rarely scores All Howard does is concede fouls. I agree that if we are defending a 1 goal lead with just stoppages to go then throwing Howard on to defend the balls going into our box is a good idea. But if your around 70 minutes and Nugent/Beckford aren't performing or get injured etc, I'd much rather see Waggy than Howard.

Yeah you're right, Waghorn is quick and will look dangerous coming on with 20 mins to go, would be good to get him fit soon.
seenitall Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Yeah you're right, Waghorn is quick and will look dangerous coming on with 20 mins to go, would be good to get him fit soon. But look dangerous is all he'll do - won't actually create anything
Mission Unlikely Promotion Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Waghorn is a typical young striker... They thrive on game time to improve their confidence, fitness levels and experience. Waggy didn't get this under Sven, at a crucial time in his development. Instead, Sven chose to ignore our brightest young players, including Jack Hobbs ( don't forget that Hull currently have the meanest defence in the Championship), in favour of his own signings. Yes, Waghorn can blaze the ball over the bar.. We've seen this many times. We've also seen him rip defences to shreds with his pace and strength and he's scored some sensational goals for the club. There is no reason IMO why Waghorn shouldn't be able to reproduce the qualities he had when he got thrust into our team the first time round. Then, he was being praised as a great young signing, and the future of our attack. But, he needs game time.. And he's not gonna be first choice. We'll see..... This
Burmesefox Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Waghorn has been awful second spell with us. Unless he changes and gets back to his old self then forget him - very poor technically.
Corky Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 I really don't understand all the negative comment about waghorn, everytime he has game time even under Sven he gave 100% he is a quality footballer and not one who's just at the club to pick up a pay check like some. Who?
FOX_TROT_07 Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Who? Pantsil for one, demanded stupid money to join us, then declared himself not fit to play for us (or had malaria like the rumour going around) yet is ok to play for Ghana
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Has he been locked in the King Power basement?? Will he ever be seen again?? Where the fudge has he disappeared to?? On a serious note where has Waggy vanished to? He was due back from injury in January and we've not heard anything since Am I right in thinking he was not part of the team that played at Kettering recently either?
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 11 April 2012 Posted 11 April 2012 Was thinking the same after the Doncaster game. Very strange to have not been told anything. This has shades of Elvis Hammond (ankle) and we all subsequently found out what was going on there didn't we...
The Snooty Fox Posted 12 April 2012 Posted 12 April 2012 Anyone who doubts Waghorn might need to check out his goals for us on You Tube! A real class act and I can't wait for him to get back in the squad.
Guy Posted 12 April 2012 Posted 12 April 2012 Yes, I rate Waggy. It's just a shame he was overlooked by Sven last season after the expenditure involved by Sousa to get him back from Sunderland, then subsequently loaned out to Hull when Pearson was still there........which of course lead to his injury............
MattyFromLE Posted 12 April 2012 Posted 12 April 2012 Feel sorry for the lad, came back to a different club. Sven really wasn't good for him, looks to have shot his confidence. Maybe Pearson can bring him back to form. Maybe not to start every game, but would certainly be worth last 20 minutes?

He's now a year older and he won't have progressed during this time. His injuries just add further doubt as to whether he'll make it here. Expensive flop, which he can't really be blamed for. edit: And now Sunderland probably think we're even after Matt Piper.
Fmfox Posted 12 April 2012 Posted 12 April 2012 he fired us into the playoffs last time so why not again!
Guest BlueBrett Posted 12 April 2012 Posted 12 April 2012 tweeted stringer to ask him what was going on with waggy yesterday but didn't get a reply. Why is our club so shit at communicating with us? Don't they want us to feel involved? (not talking about stringer here)

Basingstoke Fox Posted 12 April 2012 Posted 12 April 2012 Personally, I'm really not sure that Waghorn was a Sousa signing, I'm sure that it was more down to the owners/Mandaraic (who I think was still around at the time). They used this signing to try to get many of the fans on-side immediately. However, as people have said, he didn't fit the Sousa/Sven way, which is a big shame. Although I loved Waggy during his first spell here, I did seem to get a funny feeling about the signing, especially after forking out £3m to sign him!

Waghorn was under Pearson in his first spell (when he was outstanding) and under Sousa//Sven on his second. Now under Pearson again, I can't help but believe he will come good again
Guest parky0607 Posted 12 April 2012 Posted 12 April 2012 I can't wait to watch Waghorn sky a shit load of shots over the bar and stick a corner into row Z. Good grief - he is rubbish Hopefully never!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You miserable bar-stewards!
