Beckford won't be leaving in January

How long do you want to give Beckford?

He's a four million pound striker on 25k a week

Is his 'settling in period' this season and we'll hopefully see the best of him next season?

Fooks sake!

Who said anything about Steve Howard anyway?

Are you hallucinating?

lol

By no means did I ever say I was pleased with Beckford, but he's played no worse than the rest of the team.

It won't take him a season, but in principle yes, I believe he needs one goal to set him off on a good run.

Did you expect him to come here and start banging them in for fun every game? because I'd love an example of someone who's done that in the team.

We are by far the most disillusioned fans in the championship, money doesn't bring success.

Oh and as for Steve Howard it has been mentioned in other threads.

What's this got to with Howard? Howard didn't play today.

Beckford gets so much defence on this forum for 2 reasons: Because he cost a lot and people don't want to accept he's been another flop (so far) and because he looked a good signing to a lot of these people and they want to still believe so.

He's not been good enough, end of, it's got nothing to do with service.

Well Nugent has 6 more goals, works harder and does more for the team so he's been worse than him. I'd suggest he's been worse than Schlupp too.

He's been worse than Kasper. He's been worse than Konchesky. He's been worse than Peltier. He's been worse than Bamba. He's...screw it, he's been worse than most apart from King, Wellens and Dyer.

He's been here for 4 months and we thought his first and second goals might set him on a good run. But it's been a false dawn and he's still putting in some terrible performances and missing great chances. Sitters in fact.

Always difficult to become a legend at Leicester if you don't appeal to the fans after one or two games - but on the bright side for Beckford, I have seen Jimmy Willis, Robbie Savage, Gerry Taggart, Spencer Prior, Kevin Poole, David Speedie, Tony Cottee, Paul Dickov, Dion Dublin, Jim Melrose and numerous others over the years overcome this short term pessimism about their careers to become respected players at Leicester - I believe Mills, Danns and Beckford can all do this and thank God it is Nigel running the show not the half wits who see a few bad games and want proven players out of the team replaced by average players whose bad games they have forgotten or never saw.

Keep the faith

Want him to come back to Leeds but I know it won't happen. You guys probably best keep him as you need cover. I don't really understand how it's gone so wrong for him, was class for us and in the Premier League scored 10 goals for Everton, not bad considering all the time he spent on the bench and Everton played 4-5-1 which doesn't really suit him. I think he's made a bad career move here as he could have easily got in to some of the Premier League's lower teams and he's probably just left the peak of his career now.

Firstly he's better than Schlupp. Schlupp has great potential, but IMO is overrated.

**** knows why Pearson decided to play him out wide it clearly doesn't suite his play or the team since we're shit when we play 4-3-3.

And I wouldn't label his performances terrible, yes he's under achieving but that does not mean he's an awful player.

And he misses some great chances, but today so did Nugent, Dyer and Gally. And other players have in other games aswell.

All the excuses aside... And there's so fookin many of them they are boring... Yes!!! Even I expected a better goal return from Beckford than this..

I assume we all did..

As for him hitting the ground running?

Why on earth not? He's a supposedly premier class striker dropping down a division.

Of course he should have started to score regularly by now

I was right.. You're just in denial

Completely spot on...

It still baffles me how people rate Howard over Beckford. I've never seen beckford get himself sent off. Beckford has a much better all round game.

Confidence is a wonderful thing when you have it.

He's not a bad player, but he doesn't seem to be fitting in smoothly.

Maybe it's nerves, maybe it's his style, I don't know.

Because that not's how it works in real life...

No-one's scoring regularly. So stop scapegoating Beckford for the failure of the team.

Yep totally. Not like I'm trying to give support to a member of our team who is low on confidence.

beckford is a good goal scorer, end of discussion really. only losers like a try-hard. arrogant, lazy players who know they're special, will inevitably, find form again.

We should give Beckford till the end of the season, like it or lump it we need him at the moment.

If he doesn't deliver between now and then, get rid in the summer. Simple as that.

Turn this on his head... I'm not trying to scapegoat Beckford for the team being poor. I've said time and time again it's a team game and that we look anything but a team...

What I am saying is that you are wrong for defending him at all costs. Along with many others this season, he's been shocking...

Id rather you were honest, than denying something which is true... Because the team needs to improve and quickly.

Fortunately Pearson seems to be doing something about this with, hopefully, the signing of Sharp. He can see the problem that you refuse to accept.

Like I said before, he's not playing well. But he should be given a chance, and moaning about him is not going to do anything. And selling him makes us a merry go-round for players and managers.

If we do sign Sharp I hope for his sake he plays well before our fans turn on him when he doesn't score or is lacking confidence!

This is exactly what being fickle is. Why shouldn't people stick by him? He's a decent enough player and has always known where the net is and to say it's unfair to write him off after 4 months is perfectly reasonable. You can't win on here...Support a player and you get called thick and not being realistic, write him off and you're fickle.

I'd rather give him a season before making up my mind and surprisingly enough I don't care what most people on here think of that.

Oh no no no... Let's get one thing clear... I'm a City fan first and foremost.. I'm not just 'moaning' about Beckford.. I'd be happy to see him gone. From what I've seen of him he's been nothing more than an expensive flop.

I want us to win games with a couple of energetic, confident, in form strikers, playing well together and scoring goals for us.. and I don't mean Steve fookin Howard.

Having to 'wait' for Beckford to come good, till the end of the season....?

That's not good enough. In fact, nowhere near...

I think we deserve better than accepting such mediocrity.

Will we all be on Sharps back when he hasn't scored in his first couple of games for us???

Good question, but I think we will get effort and application from Sharp whereas Beckford just looks uninterested a la DJ Campbell, and remember only weak people feel pressure!!

Posted
Its not 'a couple of games' though is it?? according to BBC Website... Played 19 - Goals 2!!

Beckford

Played in 18 League games

Number played for whole game - 1

Number Played for more than an hour - 7

Number of games started but lasted under hour - 4

Number came on as sub for 20 mins or less - 4

Number of defeats when Beckford starts - 3 BUT in all 3 he played for less than an hour and in one was subbed after 30 mins and one at half time

Beckford has been on the pitch for 918 minutes, which is more like 10 games and while 2 is pretty crap even for 10 games, saying that it is 2 in 18 or 19 hardly tells the whole story.

I was hoping for a bit more from him but realistically he should be on 5 now to keep up with Sharps record at Doncaster and his own average - no doubt that would not be enough. Also, should we really be looking to crucify a player who has played the equivalent of 10 games for us - surely any player deserves more than that???
