Beckford won't be leaving in January

Firstly he's better than Schlupp. Schlupp has great potential, but IMO is overrated.

**** knows why Pearson decided to play him out wide it clearly doesn't suite his play or the team since we're shit when we play 4-3-3.

And I wouldn't label his performances terrible, yes he's under achieving but that does not mean he's an awful player.

And he misses some great chances, but today so did Nugent, Dyer and Gally. And other players have in other games aswell.

Yes but he's the one we bought to convert chances. Nugent and Gallagher have scored more than him this season, Gallagher takes penalties fair enough but he's not a striker either. And we all know Dyer's shite.

And I thought I've made it very clear that it's not just a one of performance. He's been shocking in the main, as bad as any striker we've had in some parts. He's missed chances and only scored 2, we coud discuss his overall team contribution and he'd get low marks for that as well, but the main thing is his goalscoring, and his missing of chances.

Because that not's how it works in real life...

No-one's scoring regularly. So stop scapegoating Beckford for the failure of the team.

Yep totally. Not like I'm trying to give support to a member of our team who is low on confidence.

I'm not sure he is scapegoating.

He is getting a lot of criticism because he cost a lot and has been gash. Nobody's suggesting we'd be top of the league without him, as I keep saying, we have a number of issues.

This is exactly what being fickle is. Why shouldn't people stick by him? He's a decent enough player and has always known where the net is and to say it's unfair to write him off after 4 months is perfectly reasonable. You can't win on here...Support a player and you get called thick and not being realistic, write him off and you're fickle.

I'd rather give him a season before making up my mind and surprisingly enough I don't care what most people on here think of that.

Hang on a minute...there is a difference between being fickle and making a reasonable unbiased judgement. Some who rated him before and want the curse of Akinbiyi of our backs are plainly giving him too much praise. I never said we should sell him. But why should he be in the team if we've got someone who potentially looks like they could do better?

Some people on here are unreal for their bias for and against players. No one who's being honest can say he put in a decent display yesterday, or that he's looked good enough to play up front for a play-off chasing side so far.

How long do we give him I keep asking.

Look my problem with him isn't just lack of goals, it his lazy attitude and lacklustre performances, lack of goals adds to this. I did feel Yakubu looked abit lazy at times here, he didn't add much or work much for the team in the sense of helping others out and creating opportunities but he scored, Beckford is showing nothing.

As for people blaming the lack of support and service for Beckford, I ain't having it, when presented with clear cut chances he still doesn't score.

I really want him to do well, don't get me wrong, he does well - LCFC does well, I just can't see it and just wonder how much longer we can afford to give him.

We stick with him IMO. Any player that has an average of almost a goal every other game over a 6 year period, including a run of 1 in 4 in the Premier League should be worth perservering with. There is no comparison with Howard or Waghorn's ratios and so we should be asking why he isn't scoring rather than castigating him for not doing so.

Once again, we turn on our own rather than get behind them to help them reach their potential. How I love Leicester

Nugent is running around like a mad thing and putting pressure on defenders.

He's missed a fair few himself recently.

I'm playing devil's advocate but he's hardly set the place alight has he?

Beckford

Played in 18 League games

Number played for whole game - 1

Number Played for more than an hour - 7

Number of games started but lasted under hour - 4

Number came on as sub for 20 mins or less - 4

Number of defeats when Beckford starts - 3 BUT in all 3 he played for less than an hour and in one was subbed after 30 mins and one at half time

Beckford has been on the pitch for 918 minutes, which is more like 10 games and while 2 is pretty crap even for 10 games, saying that it is 2 in 18 or 19 hardly tells the whole story.

I was hoping for a bit more from him but realistically he should be on 5 now to keep up with Sharps record at Doncaster and his own average - no doubt that would not be enough. Also, should we really be looking to crucify a player who has played the equivalent of 10 games for us - surely any player deserves more than that???

But Beckford was shockingly poor, maybe even unprofessional, during two of those defeats (Millwall and West Ham) and in the third (Hull) his impact was minimal, even when we had 11 men.

It's far from unreasonable to expect a better return from him, especially as, since his debut at Barnsley, his record of assists hasn't been great either.

Nugent is doing what is expected of him really if he gets 15 goals this season job done for him, Beckford has hardly pulled his weight for whatever reason you want to say lack of confidence etc.

Criticism of Nugent is daft.

He's scored goals in a team short of attacking flair.

He has no strike partner in Beckford.. No one to work with and play off

For me, Nugent has been the shining light in a piss poor team.

With a bright player to play off and a creative midfield Nugent will get the 20

I don't think anyone is saying that they're pleased with his performances so far. He hasnt been as good as expected, and I'm sure we're all gutted that he's not done what most of us know he can do.

But getting jeered and ironically cheered helps no one. People around me were shouting at him yesterday when he was close enough to hear and I felt ashamed. It's mist probably the same section of fans that vilified a perfectly good championship standard keeper last season.

I am in no doubt that he will hit form, as long as he's not pushed out of the club first.

Im not one to boo our players and i would love to see Beckford do well for us, i want all our players to do well for us.

I think that his attitude stinks though. He has been playing because of his price tag and not due to merit. I am so happy Pearson started Schlup recently, it is a shame that he is now injured. Beckford does need to start trying harder and actually put a shift in. I dont think that the fans would be on his back as much if he actually did some work for a change instead of falling over and trying to fight with his shadow!

I hope that we do get Sharp, but i hope that more so Beckford starts playing like he wants to be here as a posed to being here for the ching ching!

I not going to come on here and say how wonderfull Beckfords been far from it but to constantly get on his back and boo him does nothing to get him playing better or the team.

Players don't just loose class so there must be a reason why he's not scoring. First few games he needed time to settle in and get to know the team and beacuse he didn't hit the ground running he's been slated and booed. Fans calling him lazy etc. Well if I was constantly getting booed and critasized I wouldn't want to put the effort in either.

He was class a Leeds and did ok at everton being his first season in the prem.

Is Torres a shit and lazy player to then. At Liverpool he was reagarded as one of the best strikes around and a move to Chelsea and different playing style and team he's not exactly set the world on fire has he. So quiet similar all tho wish we had Torres.

He's come here with a fairly big price tag and a weight of expectations from us fans and it's not paid of yet. Players play with confidence and I think our fans have shattered his.

At the way were going no player is going to ever want to come here because if the don't score a hatrick in the first game our fans will crucify them.

Beckford is our player and wears our shirt and it's that we should be getting behind and support all the way and if Pearson doesn't think he's the right player for us then that's he's choice but untill then any one who puts our shirt on and plays for us gets 100% support from me.

Foxes till I die.

Torres has been shit for the last couple of years though. A shit player no, but he has been crap. Maybe he won't succeed with Chelsea? Maybe it's just the wrong club at the wrong time for him?

The point is neither Torres nor Beckford can blame their poor form on anyone but themselves. It's not the fans' fault and it's not the midfield's fault. They're just two players who haven't been at their best since they went to their current clubs. Perhaps they are both weak mentally, I don't know.

The majority of the fans want Beckford to succeed everytime he steps onto the pitch, myself included. I'm one of those who thought he was a great signing. I don't think anyone was booing him before that West Ham game where he was percieved to have not put the effort in by many. There is no excuse for not giving your all when you are on the money he's on. Anyway we've moved on and we still wish for him to improve, I hope he does but he's just not shown many signs of it yet.

If he starts banging them in over the next few games all the confidence will run through his veins again. But only he can do that.

Just stop being do dumb

1. Becks has been shit since the start... Even when the fans weren't 'on his back'

2. Class isn't always permanent.. Plenty of players start out well then become inexplicably shit.

3. Becks hasn't had one game.. He's played in nineteen and has amassed all of three goals. And, I wonder how many assists has he made?

4. If you think that Leicestee fans have 'shattered Beckfords confidence' then I'm afraid it's game over for you and the men in white coats are hovering.

Why can't people accept? Sven might have just signed a duffer? And Moyes might have just seen him coming?

The problem is, if he has signed a duffer, it's on 25k per week for another three and a half years!

Gulp......

lol

I was very excited when he signed.

I thought he would be brilliant for us.

NOW i just want him to leave.

I've had enough of his overall attitude, work ethic and lack of goals.

PLEASE LEAVE AND GO TO A CLUB YOU WANT TO PLAY FOR!

(sorry for the CAPS LOCKS!)

I agree, his attitude stinks!

Beckford was part of a title-winning strikeforce with Billy Sharp - albeit in League 1, with Scunny, five years ago.

When he was unproven and hungry. He's nothing like that now.

Even with his shit start I still believe he can turn it around. He needs to putting some effort in for once and try enjoy the minutes he gets on the pitch. he needs to start chasing down goal keepers, defenders and act like he wants to be here. Even if he doesn't score or play great , for ME it would be nice just to see him put some effort in for the team and the fans.

I really hope he can turn it around sooner rather then later and there's no better time then Barnsley on Saturday.

Col City's right face it the boy is not going to come good. He has had enough time and enough games to prove he is worth his fee and wages and quite obviously he is not worth either. Get rid of as soon as possible will be the order of the day pretty soon.

Posted

Beckford has been massively sub-standard but if that's the basis for saying he should be sold, we're not gonna have many left.

King, Wellens, Dyer, Danns, Vassell, Howard, Gallagher, Mills, St Ledger, Konchesky have all had their critics, some as strong as those against Beckford.

We cant sell them all. He should be given at least a season to be absolutely sure he's no good before we get rid of him.
