woddyuk Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 With an increasing number of high profile players being spolit brats, complete numptys, & cocks at the moment are there still "good" players left for our boys & girls to look upto and aspire to be like? No doubt on a playing field somewhere someone will try and copy Mr Mario @ MCFC and kick someone in the head. But they should be trying to copy skill, pace, vision, etc. Purely on football performance, attitude & behaviour who do you think are the best "role models"? (ignore which team they play for) Just looking at premier league squads there are not many Id have on the list. Robn Van Persie, Theo Wallcott, Shay Given, Petr Cech, Clint Dempsey, Mark Schwarzer, Ryan Giggs, Gareth Bale, Van da Vaart, Scott Parker, Demba Ba, (a lot of goalkeepers) Those making the "do not copy them" list :: Craig Belamey, Joey Barton,John Terry, Wayne Rooney,Carlos Tevez, Mario Barotelli, Ashley Cole, Nicholas Anelka, Jamie Carragher, Didier Drogba, Luis Suarez, Titus Bramble, Johnathan Woodgate,Elhadj Douf. Any more for the lists >> ??
jonlcfc1990 Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 Steve Gerrard is riding the fence pretty hard pros and cons I'd say mr lineker?
Guest MattP Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 If your kids are using footballers as role models it really isn't good in the first place. I'd want my kids role models to be people like David Attenborough, JK Rowling and Jamie Oliver. Not a bunch of idiots running round a green field.
Finnegan Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 Bellamy does shit loads for charity and Giggs shagged his brother's missus. You sure bruv?
StanSP Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 Talking of role models, if Maradona was around today, which would you put him in? Labelled as one of the best players of his generation or ever, but was a druggie and cheated in a World Cup Final...?
Guest MattP Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 Bellamy does shit loads for charity and Giggs shagged his brother's missus. You sure bruv? Was reading an article about Bellamy in the Times last week, the academy he is setting up in the Sierra Leone is incredible, given nearly a million pounds to the cause so far.
leicesterisme Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 You put Ryan Giggs in the role models? But then class Carragher as a bad role model. What a load of shit.
Fox92 Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 wtf? Jamie Carragher is a good role model, a real professional. He is never in the news for the wrong reasons, keeps his head down and gets on with playing football and returns home to his family. And he is very loyal. I would add Scholes to the role model list as well.
Yojoe36 Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 Why in hell should kids have a footballer as a role model? Modern ones anyway. Someone whose never passed their GCSEs, and only ever kicked a ball in their life must be a great role model. Even role models in general are shite nowadays anyway. We got cvnts like Justin Bieber. Marylin Mason was the shit
Guest BlueBrett Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 I'd rather spawn a talented roodboi than an average 2 shoes.

I did meant only in a footballing context,,,, not as "life" models,, all of the ones you mention beat a footballer hands down...
Jackirius Posted 26 January 2012 Posted 26 January 2012 Kids don't have 'Role Models' anymore. Unless you are 3 and want to be Superman when you grow up.
woddyuk Posted 26 January 2012 Author Posted 26 January 2012 Bellamy does shit loads for charity and Giggs shagged his brother's missus. You sure bruv? Like I said on football only..... Is Bellamy really a better player to aspire to than Giggs ?? I dont think so,,, If he does chairty work well done to him but he gets no press for for that....he only shows up as a cock on the pitch,,, which is what people see.. What's Diouf done wrong? spitting at opponents on live Tv

Is that what you'd say to your kids when you're kicking a ball around with them in the park?

Marylin Mason was the shit - he's an incredibly crap musician and is generally a bit of a twat.
Finnegan Posted 27 January 2012 Posted 27 January 2012 - he's an incredibly crap musician and is generally a bit of a twat. I'm not a fan of his music but he's obviously not 'incredibly crap' musically. Moreover, he's actually a very, very intelligent bloke.
