_Fatboyslow_ Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 We just seem like a collection of random players who don't have a recognisable style as a team. Some weeks they press, some weeks they sit back. Sometimes we hoof the ball, sometimes we try to get it down and pass. The full-backs might get forward or they might not. We never have a method that we impose on people. couple this with a few one trick ponies and you have smelt the coffee, unlike the squad that NFP took to the playoffs who most fans could not believe what they achived but did what they did well.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Too many average players, at the moment. Peltier, Dyer and Wellens being the main three. Peltier cant defend, Dyer is thick and unintelligent and Wellens is just sloppy and looked lazy at times today. I think it is over, not impossible, but certainly improbable. Need wins and fast.
Karljohn Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Think we have something like 8-9 games in March, its Tues, Sat, Tues pretty much throughout, we need to produce title winning form and take at least 20 points in March, if we can, then its not over, we still have the bottom 3 to come at home but the last two fixtures suggest we need it in the bag by game 44, I really dont fancy us West Ham at Home and Leeds away.
Callabinho Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 So when the owners said they wanted premier league football next season, they actually meant the season after?
Corky Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 In terms of the play-offs it is. What a waste this season has been.
foxforcefive Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 So 6th are averaging 1.7 points a game. To make up 7 points on that would mean beating that average by 0.4 points per game. So at 2.1 points per game we can still lose the next 4 and draw 1 after that and be in the running. So keep the faith and revisit this forum after the Coventry game! If we have anything more than 0 points by then then it's still not beyond the realms of possibility. What's the point in being a football fan if not for always believing anything could happen!
Salieri Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 The arrows stuck should be more to the right Nah, blind optimism is the way forward. You never know, Johnson might get himself fit and save the day.
Jace Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Nah, blind optimism is the way forward. You never know, Johnson might get himself fit and save the day. Who? More chance Matt Oakley will pick up player of the season
topharry123 Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 It's not over until we can't possible make it anymore mathematically, but it's looking like a longer shot each week. We need to go on a good run, and we need that run to start in the next couple of games if we are to have a realistic shot of making the play offs this year.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 In terms of the play-offs it is. What a waste this season has been. Absolutely right... Compare the pre season optimism (blind as it turns out) with what we've seen and it's been nothing short of a disgrace to be honest We could have and should have done so much better than this
Jace Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Think there is a few positives we can take out of this season we have a few Premiership standard players here who none of them were here this time a year ago, Schmeichel, Nugent, Beckford, Mills, Konchesky. In full the squad is not good enough or strong enough to be in the top 6 but bring in a few more decent players and we will be there it was never going to be quick and easy just need to hang onto the talent we have and build on it.
lemtom Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 A lot of points left to play for but tbh i think we would benefit in the long run from another season in the championship.. I would love us to go up as soon as possible but we'll become a stronger team if we keep the majority of the squad together clear out some dead wood thats left and bring in a few quality players in the summer im pretty certain with Pearson in charge we'll be at least in the top 6 this time next year.. Hull are the pefect example first year Pearson had to bring nearly a complete new team in and get them to play the Pearson way which took a while they finished mid table then made a couple of good signings in the summer and look at Hull now up there challenging.. im sure a lot of that is down to the work Pearson did there and not Barmby.

LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 We don't look like a play off team, we played awful today, the players didn't seem to look bothered today
Salieri Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Kasper, nugent, konchesky... Yes Mills not good enough mate. If he was we'd be doing better I notice you didn't mention Beckford as you're slowly coming to the realisation that you were wrong about him. I believe you will be wrong about Mills too.
Jace Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Kasper, nugent, konchesky... Yes Mills not good enough mate. If he was we'd be doing better He has his faults but if Richard Stearman can make the Premiership Mills deffo can too! Just don't expect Barcelona/Swansea style passing from the back...
Callabinho Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 I think the general consensus is that if we don't go up Kasper will!
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 I notice you didn't mention Beckford as you're slowly coming to the realisation that you were wrong about him. I believe you will be wrong about Mills too. You mentioned this before and I held my hands up and said I was happy he'd improved. Not sure why you're bringing it up again? If mills was the player we expected him to be he'd be showing it by now.. Why shouldn't he be? Even Beckford.. What is it? Four league goals all season... Be honest, are you happy with that return?
Sods Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 In terms of the play-offs it is. What a waste this season has been. Coventry and forest going down!

I'm bringing it up again because Becks took time to settle in and show what he can do and Mills will do the same (in the main his performances have been better lately to be fair). Don't make the same mistake twice of writing a player off too early.

Salieri Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Read my edit... About Becks? Current form is what counts and he's been excellent in our last few games, long may it continue.
