Leicfox Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 For me, it's getting to that point in the season where your realistical thoughts begin to overtake your hope, we need to win at least 5 MORE games than the teams above us, and once we do that, we must remain a winning team. Sorry, but I would like to cash in my seat on the optimistic bus, in order to catch the despair and misery train. And Blackpool, their fans which surround me and gloat and their constant match winning 90th minute goals can **** RIGHT OFF Blackpool will go up automatically, Holloway has the team playing so well. I watched their game today while listening to ours. They murdered Cardiff and I fear for us when we visit Bloomers next month.
Guest parky0607 Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 It's too early to say it's over. If we were to win are next 3 games we could be right up there. This league is to hard to predict whats going to happen.
LCFC FOX Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 WE CAN STILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS KEEP THE FAITH! Got some easier teams at home such as Coventry , Forest , Doncaster , Burnley Then we have away Millwall , Derby , Bristol City , Ipswich , Watford All of them games we can easily take 3 points of them. Then we have the harder teams all at home Cardiff , West Ham , Birmingham , Hull ect
Wakeyfox Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 note more blue straws than any other colour...... a sign maybe??
Matt Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Well 5 games ago I was certain our season was over, The last 4 or 5 games we have really turned things around, played very well, and gave us some fighting spirit and ressurected our hopes, I thought it'd be hard on again, I said before today we needed to go the rest of the season unbeaten, I now think our season is over after today, we need to definetly go unbeaten for the rest of the season now without a doubt. Still possible but getting more and more unlikely, I think we'll be very lucky now to get in the playoffs.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 I dont think its about spirit and work -rate...this has become a lot better recently. Drinkwater looks like he's gonna be a major player for Leicester into the future. We have had no luck either to be fair... some of the reffing performances I've seen this season have been possibly the worst I've ever seen. However, this can be seen as excuses I guess... IMO our squad of players, beginning with some of Sven's signings, have simply not been of sufficient quality to gain promotion. And some of Pearson's 'old guard' do need replacing. IMO the likes of Mills, Danns, Gally and Wellens are just not good enough players to get out of this division. We can focus on 'spirit', 'luck', 'tactics' and 'refs' all we like.... if the players we have at hand don't have the ability to win more games than they lose then we will not succeed. I think this may be the problem.. Hope I'm wrong.
Guesty Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 It might be clutching at straws. I'm not saying we're going to be promoted. It's too early to say either way. Not like 7 points is insurmountable when you've got 17 games left. Some teams will buckle under the pressure and fall away. I just get fed up that everytime we lose we've got no chance of promotion. Then we win everyone says we're gonna be promoted.

THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Yes. The team can't string two wins together, literally. It's embarrassing given the squad of players
Saxondale Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 I think we fvcked it up in December to be honest. Too many consecutive poor results. Obviously the play offs are a possibility but would we have to find some unbelievable form and I don't think it's realistic.
Mission Unlikely Promotion Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Personally it's a big ask for me and if we DO get into the playoffs then other teams are going to have to falter badly. Sure, some teams will do exactly that, but will enough of them? Will the owners be patient with Pearson? In fact, if we can get into the playoffs this season, then Pearson will have to be up there with O'Neill and Gillies. I'm guess most of you will be as dispondent as me. With you on this one, season over because of ill discipline again

This league is to hard to predict whats going to happen. I admire your optimism, but when's the last time we did this in the league? Can't see it happening, season over, but will support them all the way - will have to satisfy myself now with watching Forest & Coventry go down..

smudgerfox Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 season over - you only have to ask what might happen if by some miracle we made the play offs and got promoted. It would be utter carnage. we need to spend the rest of the season laying strong foundations for next year something Sven failed to do when our chances disappeared last season.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Doable but not realistic. Too much grond to make up for me whilst we arent good enough.
S-win Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 We're going to win the cup We're going to win the cup I know you don't believe me But we're going to win the cup
Thracian Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Of course the season is not over but we have to recognise why we dropped so far off the pace. Yes, we can still improve our team but it's not the lack of players which is holding us back but the playing philosophy. Look at the Middlesbrough game. We scored early on and then had to watch Middlesbrough given free reign to attack for the next 20 minutes. Why? Why didn't we pressure them with even more conviction and attack the game with vigour. Yes, Beckford kept giving us the odd moment of optimism but essentially we played contained football and only really gave it everything in the last 10 minutes when we were chasing an equaliser. If we're going to win things we have to make opponents fear us. We have to threaten several goals a game. But when it comes to league game we just don't have that attitude. We never want to rip people apart. At Brighton we even left one of the most devastating wingers on the bench. Why? For what earthly reason, with so many points to recover, would we theoretically leave it until the second half to have all guns blazing? No manager knows what will happen in a game in terms of bookings, sendings-off or injuries. So why not start as strong as we can and press the game? Yes the referee's been a factor but debate on that score is clouding the reality that we're just not making our own luck. We're just like Sunderland before MON took over. Every week Steve Bruce would cite this and that as reasons for not winning yet all those reasons seemed to disappear once MON took over. It's not just luck it's attitude - and I've said before we just have no philosophy. Think about our team over the last few seasons. It is so rare that we've really tried to attack a league game for 90 minutes. Hope springs eternal but fans are mostly disappointed and that's reflected in the frustration and lack of atmosphere from the crowd, particularly at home games. We need to change that. We need to get our fans going and show an attitude towards winning week in and week out. Never mind the opposition. Our aim should be to score goals. We lost today, not because of the referee but because we didn't score at a time when we simply have to win games. We've failed to score or managed just the one goal far too often this season. And that's what has to change to keep our season alive. We need to score and keep scoring. Even if we have to play three at the back to do it.
Callabinho Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Not gaining promotion doesn’t really faze me that much, what does bother me is the owners. If we don't go up it will be seen as a failure. I have a horrible feeling they will jump ship.

I have a horrible feeling they will jump ship. The owners are not going to jump because of a crappy season, yes they would of hoped that we would of got automatic promotion, but their is always next season, and crucially the first half of the season, NP needs to get this team as many wins as possible before Christmas next year.

If we don't go up it will be seen as a failure. I have a horrible feeling they will jump ship. Don't understand this train of thought. Just because we've had a poor season doesn't mean they'll give up. NP will get us performing and there is a decent chance next year will be our year. Its the fact people think the owners can afford to jump having spent the amount of money they have, plus they'll have to find buyers. Upgrading the academy is a sign theyll be around for longer than this season.

The problem is they have pumped close to £20 million pounds into the club over 2011, and what have we to show for it? A sacked England manager and a mid table position. You don't invest the amount of money they have into a football club to be a steady 13th. And when the losses are announced I think one or two Thai obscenities may fly around the office.
