accessory Posted 14 February 2012 Posted 14 February 2012 Our season isn't over by any means. It's just got a bit more difficult after tonight to resurrect it. It's still possible. Get real. We haven't won back-to-back league games for a YEAR. So how can anyone expect us to go on a run of 6-7 wins? In a league as weak as this, that suggests serious character flaws in the side, which successive managers have been unable to correct. The league table doesn't lie. We're mid-table because this group of players lack the collective quality to be anything better. Unless and until the deadwood is cleared out, the malaise will continue.

Spot on, if NP doesn't get rid of the deadwood he can do one as far as I am concerned. They are holding us back massively, too much of a egomixed dressing room the mentality of Wellens and co can f**k off the sooner the better.

I am being 'real', thank you very much. I mentioned the fact we haven't won back-to-back all season. I said I understand that. But I was also talking about it still being possible that we can get play-offs. I know we have an inconsistent squad. But stranger things have happened than finally being able to win 2 successive league games after a whole calendar year. I agree with you that some players out our club aren't up to the standard and could be holding us back. The fact that we can beat Cardiff and do the double over Southampton shows us that the quality is there to get the wins that are needed. Winning successively CAN happen. Easier said than done, yes. But it's still possible. I stand by my point that it isn't impossible for us to get to the play-offs. It's just more difficult after losing to the likes of Watford.

Not really the point people are trying to make though - which is that it's so improbable (looking at the performance so far this season) that it's becoming reasonable to write the season off. We're looking at a 2 points a game average from here until the end of the season really to be in with a chance...just not going to happen.
Donut Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 The problem is, its not a case of just us battling for that place, we arent 7th in the league trying to make up a gap to 6th, were way down the table and were relying on trying to take a huge points to game ratio until the end of the season AND hope that none of the teams between 11th to 6th put together any sort of run. If they do theyll get in the playoffs and push us out EVEN if (and lets face it theres no signs of it) our form improves. You cant realistically expect as many as 6 teams to let us into the playoffs
Raj Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 We CANT expect much if by mid Feb we still cant produce performances which merit 6 points out of 2 consecutive games. Its only the hope keeping us going and until mathmatically its over we still got a chance. Having said that we've got as much chance of reaching the play offs as Suarez writing a book on race relations!
acooling08 Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 My worry is that who will want to leave at the end of the season? I'm scared that the likes of Kasper, Nugent, Beckford could want a move to the Prem.
Guy Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 The odds in the boookies of us reaching the play offs come the end of the season must be massive now!
Cropwellfox Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 The season has been over since the awful home game against Barnsley. We should spend the rest of the season giving the players we want to keep for next some game time - would love to see a back 4 of SSL Bamba Morgan Kennedy picked for example. We are so horribly short of options in midfield and up front though we can expect to have plenty more chance to see the likes of dyer wellens and Gallagher plenty more unfortunately. 9 off the playoffs by mid fed - my god I am for sure one of the biggest pessimists who posts on here but I didnt think for a minute we would be so far off with 15 games left. Pearson is too often being let down by a number of the players he has been loyal to since he came back, but also hasn't grasped the opportunity to do more about it in the jan window. The back to back thing is an embarrassing stat that sums us up perfectly at the moment.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 The season is over as we aren't good enough. Too many average players in a average team. Can't win two in a row so no chance of going on a run.
woznotwos Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 Cant see it now , midtable mediocrity im afraid.
ROKERITE Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 Ofcourse the season isn't over. Last night was a shock and a disappointment but with NP in charge the play-offs are still very much a possibility. The injury to Drinkwater could be a crucial blow though; if he's broken his foot he'll be a huge loss.

I think you are kidding yourself if you think we can make the playoffs a 9 point gap possible 12 points as Reading and Brum have played 30 games.
Reynard Bleu Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 There are still plenty of points to play for, still the chance for the twists and turns that often throw up late runners etc. But, I see no evidence that we can put together the consitent run of wins, home and away, to take any opportunity that arises. We are too inconsistent, to likely to make the telling mistakes and slip too easily in to that letharigic mode seen so often this season. There is no real heart in the team, I mean that constantly beating pulse that drives others on, that makes that extra bit of difference, that gives the example for others to follow. I don't just mean one player, I mean that little hardcore group that pushes the others to do more and do better.

It's of no surprise to me we went on and lost last night after he was taken off
jonlcfc1990 Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 What does season over even mean? Is it over? No it finishes at leeds away on the 28th of April are we safe from relegation? no with 45 points still up for grabs the bottom 3 could achieve 70 70 and 69 points. Are we out of the play off picture? No as i've stated with 45 points up for grabs and only being 9 points off sixth it most certainly isn't over. So NO It is not over

Like last season under Sven I remember last season it went down to the last three games? and we are still in the FA cup? I thought with all the shifting sands in the Prem Champ and League 1 being in a strong top 10 position isn't necessarily a bad thing? Big clubs on there way down from the prem and from our league Forest in financial trouble and Cov in meltdown shouldn't we be thankful for "Mediocrity" i've never thought we've had a mediocre season look at your reference "Under Sven" Under Sven you say? The Former England manager? Yeah he came to Leicester and managed to find Vassell from nowhere! Seriously Darrius Vassell and he got him to sign for us i thought he was dead! not to mention Yak Naughton Bruma Van anholt Bedner. If thats our mediocre i can't wait for our exciting seasons!
Cropwellfox Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 Time to definately start thinking about next year, and for me that means giving Kasper the armband and desperately trying to get him to sign a new deal on that basis, seeing SSL at RB, Morgan + one other centre halves, Kennedy game time, possibly left of midfield, going all out to find a loan to perm tough midfielder, playing Marshall in every game for the rest of the season to give him experience at this level. Would also bring Hopper, Moussa, and Byrne, when fit, into the matchday squads before end of April. Can't be any less consistent than the current chosen ones. Likelihood of happening = slight at best.
crisp packet Posted 15 February 2012 Posted 15 February 2012 If we can get two wins back to back maybe we can win five or six who knows ?? But all this bitching and slagging ain't going to help! In the summer I said money won't buy us anything without hard work , support from the fans and a bit of luck!?!? Well we ain't had any of them three It aint over till its over ........ But it nearly is!

You're right Jon.. Naughton, PVA, Bruma, ( I hope you're joking about Bender though) Ex England manager... And somehow he STILL managed to fook it up.. Pearson is having to pick up the pieces of a ridiculous tenure under Sven IMO.. It's gonna take the summer, at least, to sort out this underachieving bunch.. And I'm sure some will leave

And I'm sure some will leave I didn't say they were good? i was just mentioning the things that happen in a single season at LCFC manager changes rebuilding New owners "Big name" players and Big name managers. Now i think a bit of mediocrity is well nice. Like you've pointed out and i completely agree with you that we need a good strong summer Pearson needs to take stock and see what changes we need to make and he is the right man to do that job. I'm looking forward to next season immensely not because of the promotion push just because i think we will be playing some pretty good football next season with some quality players.
