Jace Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 I am happy will Mills so far yeah he is not perfect all centre backs will make mistakes and he will never be worth a £4 million price tag but I just still don't understand why Sven sold Jack Hobbs for being a no nonsense hoof the ball centre back when Mills is no better
Simmo86 Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Kasper, nugent, konchesky... Yes Mills not good enough mate. If he was we'd be doing better Good enough for Reading last season though
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 About Becks? Current form is what counts and he's been excellent in our last few games, long may it continue. If you are happy with our league position given how well this season could have gone then that's your perogative. Personally I reckon most of Svens signings have been nowhere near as good as I personally thought they would be... In fact, miles off So, again, yes I hold my hands up and say I was wrong because I was expecting an awful lot more. Particularly from Danns and Mills. You cannot win football matches if you can't keep the ball.. And mills can't keep the ball. Then again, neither can most of them... I stated earlier I think Sven assembled what has been a very average squad. I hope Pearson can improve it
Corky Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Absolutely right... Compare the pre season optimism (blind as it turns out) with what we've seen and it's been nothing short of a disgrace to be honest We could have and should have done so much better than this This division is nothing special. West Ham are top yet have lost 7 times in 29. QPR lost 6 and Norwich 8 through the whole of last season. There are no top sides, and we are currently in the middle of the mediocre teams. It's not acceptable.

EcclesallOwl Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Leicester WILL be going up this season. 3/4 wins in a row can change a season dramatically.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Stopped reading there. Did I say that? Why are we in this position mate? The players...... You can't argue on the one hand that you think players are 'on form' or 'will come good' then be unhappy with the league position The two don't tally Just be honest... The season thus far has been pants.. And the players generally pants...
Simmo86 Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Leicester WILL be going up this season. 3/4 wins in a row can change a season dramatically. Trust me we won't! Back to back wins would be a start! Scrap this nightmare year and start again next season! Roll on August!

Happy Fox Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Leicester WILL be going up this season. 3/4 wins in a row can change a season dramatically. Like your optimism but we haven't won back to back games in the league for a long time and it doesn't look that forthcoming.
EcclesallOwl Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Trust me we won't! Back to back wins would be a start! Scrap this nightmare year and start again next season! Roll on August! As an outsider I've seen it many times before. There's always a team that under-performs for a lot of the season and then makes a late dash for the play offs.
Jace Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 It was said, especially on here, that Sven sold Hobbs and bought Mills because he wanted a cultured centre back, composed on the ball who could bring it out of the back comfortably.. ???? Exactly I was kind of confused at the time and as the season progresses the confusion is now beginning to turn to madness Leicester WILL be going up this season. 3/4 wins in a row can change a season dramatically. 2 wins in a row would make our season mate!

There's always a team that under-performs for a lot of the season and then makes a late dash for the play offs. Well I love your optimism and hopefully we will. Just can see it myself! Winning the FA Cup on the other hand is well and truly on....
Bilbo Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Trust me we won't! Back to back wins would be a start! Scrap this nightmare year and start again next season! Roll on August! What when we'll probably have a new manager who will last 3 months and then we will have to start the carbon copy of the previous two seasons all over again. Great times!
Jace Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Football league show now this should be interesting Leicester Brighton last game to be shown?
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Exactly I was kind of confused at the time and as the season progresses the confusion is now beginning to turn to madness 2 wins in a row would make our season mate! Let me make it clear mate.. I'm just as frustrated as the rest of us as I love the club.. What has gone wrong this season I really really don't know... I can only think its got to be down to Sven signing players who actually weren't as good as I thought they were. At least some of them anyway.. As you said, in Konchesky, Kasper and Nuge we've got three very able signings who IMO are all good enough for promotion. But actually I think that's about it. However, in Drinkwater I reckon Nige may have made a very important signing. The boy looks good to me

The season thus far has been pants.. And the players generally pants... I agree that the season has been very disappointing so far but I also believe that we have the players to get us out of this league. Sven seemed unable to mould his players into a cohesive unit and motivate them, NP is showing signs that he is able to do this. There have been recent improvements, individually and collectively and the more time Pearson gets to make his mark, the better we will become. Going up this season is looking increasingly unlikely but I'm not giving up just yet, nor am I giving up on certain players such as SSL,Mills, Beckford, Danns etc who have all shown improved performances of late. I know you are an advocate of NP too, so have a little faith that he will get the best out of the likes of Mills and equally, will dispose of those not pulling their weight. He is very good at building a side, he started slowly at Hull but after a while started to transform them into a good side, he will do the same here.
EcclesallOwl Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 Cardiff at home & Watford away... Can see 2 wins from that easily!
Simmo86 Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 What when we'll probably have a new manager who will last 3 months and then we will have to start the carbon copy of the previous two seasons all over again. Great times! Pearson won't be gone in August, judging by our January transfer activity the owners already know promotion is out of the window this season and are building for next. Get off to a bad start next year though and Pearson will be a goner!

Happy Fox Posted 4 February 2012 Posted 4 February 2012 The owners expectations will be the same next year automatic promotion so first 10 fixtures arise a minimum of 20 points would be needed, lets hope they realize that sacking managers mid term through the season won't help us in our promotion push.

Where I agree with you completely is on Pearson... Where I disagree with you is in the players. I don't think we do have the quality of squad to get us out of this division. And i have a feeling neither does Pearson.. I wouldn't be surprised to see lots of changes come the summer.
inckley fox Posted 5 February 2012 Posted 5 February 2012 Who said Warnock was a quick solution? Try telling that to Palace fans. And how long did it take him to get Sheff U up? We're discovering that there are no quick fixes, not without already having the backbone of a promotion-winning side in place. Regardless of changes in manager a team takes seasons to build. Since 2010 every key decision taken by the club has been contrary to that logic until, perhaps, the past three months. Time to be patient. We're not cursed, we're just prone to dramatic over-reactions and illusions of grandeur from board, staff and fans alike. Let's learn from what's happened and understand that the notion that 'all will be fine if we appoint Warnock' is precisely the sort of viewpoint which led to us getting where we are today.
Sven' Thai Bride Posted 5 February 2012 Posted 5 February 2012 As much as I want to write the season off, there's still that niggling bit of hope where I'm convinced we'll do it. The key difference between now and a month ago is the optimism about the way the teams improving, and if not necessarily getting the results, the improvement in the team ethic is hugely encouraging, and I think the results will come. Next 5 league games is do-or-die. I think our struggles this season come mostly from our ridiculous pre-season schedule.... Whilst I'd happily play Bursaspor, Valencia, and Real Madrid in our Champions League winning campaign, I can't see how we were meant to gel as a team and develop a style of play, other than trying not to get beat. Had we played a proper pre-season, i.e. glamour ties with Mansfield, Hinckley, and Oadby Town, we might have been better prepared.
