Weller in Tights Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 Ok please bear with this. I am an old git, remembering the times when European clubs copied English chants. When there was a real atmosphere to games. Now those of you that goto games to just go to watch the football. FCUK off now, I'm not talking to you. I'm talking to those of you that the whole thing matters, the build up, the expectation, the pint down the pub discussing the game, the walk to the ground (The fight with the opposing fans, OK OLD DAYS MAYBE, LETS DROP THAT FOR NOW)., the banter, the songs, the chants, THE GAME, THE RESULT. ALL OF IT. MOST OF ALL, YOU ARE A LEICESTER FAN, (look up the word fanatic - A person marked or motivated by an extreme, unreasoning enthusiasm ) Can someone younger than me, with more time and less responsibilities, PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE, petition the club to do something about the atmosphere. ??? Watch 'You Tube' clips of St Pauli, Galatasary, Boca Juniors. Wouldn't it be great to have a kop like that!!!!!???? Even if we had to vow to the authorities that there would be no crowd trouble, just fans together wanting to support their club and wanting to create and enjoy an atmosphere. How about it? the thing you need is a section of the ground with unreserved seating (I know all you 'top fans' that have been on here for years, you are now going "oh no not this again"). But imagine the whole kop, as unreserved seating (ideally the family stand, but they will never go for that). Then the fans who want to make the choice of supporting their team in the way we all go on and on and on and on about on here can do it. THIS IS NOT THE USUAL "Oh our atmosphere is crap" POST. THIS IS A REAL HEART FELT APPEAL TO SOMEONE TO GET ORGANISED, GO TO THE CLUB AND DO WHAT THE FOSSE BOYS TRIEDTO DO (god love them they sort of failed, not totally through their own fault) ON A REAL MASSIVE SCALE. AN UNRESERVED SEATING SECTION IS THE ONLY WAY TO DO THIS. SOMEONE IN THE KNOW, PETITION THE RIGHT PEOPLE AND GET THIS CLUBS SUPPORT MOVING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. THE CHAIRMAN COULD WELL SUPPORT IT, MANY S.E. ASIAN COUNTRIOES HAVE FANS THAT ARE ORGANISED AND CO-ORDINATED. I now await the various old hacks that will tear this to bits.
StanSP Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 I have an idea. We should move the kop next to the away fans.
Nationwider Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 For those of advancing years in need of organised and co-ordinated entertainment, there's always line-dancing.
Weller in Tights Posted 8 February 2012 Author Posted 8 February 2012 Wondered what the first post would be. Basically a piss take. Well done StanSP Kop near away fans oh yeah which we know will never happen. Read what my original post says, there must be some one who can have influence. The Argetinian and Italian Ultras have real influence (Ok some illegally) , the German hardcore fans have real democratic influence. Is there not some one out there with the interlect, time and energy to get this going?
StanSP Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 Thank you. Just like kop near away fans might never happen, it'd take a huge, gigantic, mammoth effort to get an atmosphere in the countries that you list, even with unreserved seating. Just saying.
Donut Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 Maybe we should just swap our fans for a set of Italian of Argentinian ultras. job done.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 Heard Eygption football crowds have a good atmosphere.
FantasticMrFuchs Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 Heard Eygption football crowds have a good atmosphere.
Will1981 Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 I have an idea. We should move the kop next to the away fans. surely it would be easier to move the away fans next to the kop.
The Doctor Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 Heard Eygption football crowds have a good atmosphere. Then there is only one solution: MASSIVE BANGLES GIG!!!!

Good point well put too many divs now though and i cant wait for them to start foaming at the mouth as you have mentioned the 'fight' word in a post good luck

Good post but the Fosseboys tried it and got ridculed by the club and fans. If you want any sort of atmosphere then get in L,K or even J block. Forget the kop.
Mack Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 I've not read all this. However was had a Kop already, but half of the fans from there decided to move to L1 and in the process split our vocal support into two places. Why dont the L1 lot just move back to the Kop and unite the vocal support again?
shade Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 I knew someone who went to a football match, an opposition fan fancied a "fight", punched him unprovoked, he had a brain haemorrhage and died. but good post!
James. Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 Not sure what the OP is expecting from a post that essentially reads "someone else do something about the atmosphere because I can't be bothered".
Mjlewis08 Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 If there are a lot of like minded people in the Kop why don't they just not go to their seat number and sit where the like? Another big problem is the bores in the West Stand. I like my view but the people just bloody groan when a pass is short. They don't move for 90 minutes unless we score, or we are playing badly someone stands up just to shout "Beckford your a lazy Coont". We need someone on the inside to put speed in the drinks in the Concourse so they go ape shit for 90 mins. The borough game was a massive improvement - getting behind the team when we are down. And it's always special when 20,000 fans unite together to call the ref a W.....!
Saxondale Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 Can someone younger than me, with more time and less responsibilities, PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE, petition the club to do something about the atmosphere. ??? There are plenty of us who share the same frustration, but what is petitioning the club going to do? How can they change it? I agree with Mack that part of the problem is that our vocal support is now separated. The away fans are positioned where they are so they have the shortest route from the road / buses - these will not move. So if you think moving the Kop is the answer - well this has effectively already happened with the abandonment of SK1 to L1, K1 etc.
davieG Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 I lived through those old days so lets not kid ourselves the atmosphere was always great, I remember as many times standing watching games where you could hear and see a pin drop as there were where the atmosphere was terrific. I also remember going with my kids when the atmosphere was fearsome due to the violence erupting when people thought a fun time was had by kicking the shit out of an oppo fan. The truth is atmosphere improves as success is achieved and the more sustained the success the better the atmosphere. We've just been through 8 years or more of purgatory and continual failure apart from one instance of reaching the play-offs and in spite of many people enjoying it in the third tier had our lowest ever finish in 125 years. Yes it could be better and will be if we can get some ongoing sustained success, it may not reach the dizzy heights of the 5-0 thrashing of Cambridge or the 3-3 draw with Arsenal but then neither has it sunk to the depths of the Pleat era despite our relegation to the third tier. Sure there are things that could be done to improve the atmosphere, I've been a long time advocate of unreserved seating but ironically the more successful we could become the less likely this will happen. This club along with most others have shown a distinct disinterest in adopting potential crowd improvement ideas they appear to prefer a crowd full of families probably because they'e the ones that are more likely to spend extra money on food and merchandise I really can't see that changing in spite of those kids eventually being driven away in their late teens early 20s by the same set up that got them there in the first place. Anyway enough of this rambling I'm off to have some breakfast best of luck with your campaign.

Atmosphere comes with success.
Zingari Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 success and great atmosphere usually walk hand in hand get a modicum of success and the rest is easy sorry i can't offer anything better , good luck
James. Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 Anyway enough of this rambling I'm off to have some breakfast best of luck with your campaign. It's not a campaign though is it (I'm not having a go at you DG)? It's one bloke reminiscing about the past and asking someone else to do the legwork, with the only piece of advice being the vague suggestion of a petition. Firstly I don't think anything will change because the club have on numerous occasions been very clear in wanting nothing other than the current status quo. Fosse Boys, N Block, all history. They wouldn't even entertain a fvcking Safe Standing roadshow outside the ground, giving the lamest excuse about "current regulations prohibit standing, blah blah blah". My point is that to even stand a tiny chance of making any substantial change to the club's approach will take a hell of a lot more than a lazy plea for "someone to do something".
