March- huge month.

I know we still have Derby to go this month, but just wondering how everyone thinks we should approach March.

Next month, we have 8 games- with a more than likely chance of 9 if Forest at home gets moved to the 27th which is available, meaning we'll play on every Saturday and Tuesday.

This could stretch our squad, and we already have a few injuries so dyou think NP should look to bring in a few loanees or is our current squad enough?

This month will be our make/break month- could end our season if we lose in the Cup and don't get results in the League or it could send us into the final month fighting for 2 competitions if we somehow find good form and string together a run of wins...

And finally, as we approach the huge QF, do we continue to field our strongest side in the League risking injury etc, or do we start resting players? My opinion is that as long as we have a small hope of playoffs, we play our strongest XI.

My prediction is that we'll still have a tiny sniff of the playoffs at the end of March, be around 4 points behind 6th.

Think i agree with you, our cup win yestersay should help us recover some league form so im still hoping we can surge to the playoffs! Full x1 every week and bring in 2/3 loanees

I definitely think we need a few loanees to ease any injury worries. I also agree that we need to field our strongest/fittest team in every game cup and league. Think we have probably left it too late for play-offs but you never know

My focus is on the cup now.

If we make the playoffs we make the playoffs but as far as i'm concerned based on league form and consistancy our season is over as far as the league goes, if we make the playoffs great that is the aim but it's unlikely and i'm not gonna get excited if we beat Derby and then Coventry (Who we really should be beating) because it'll just be another false dawn and I still don't see us making the playoffs. Hopefully i'll be wrong though.

Having said that we should be looking at winning Cov, Forest, Derby and Birmingham is winnable.

But the games 'we should win' and are winnable we usually fuck up badly, and that is exactly the reason our season has been poor.

Yesterday was predictable in that it further highlighted the ridiculousness of the inconsistancy that has and will continue to plague the season. We've not a chance in the league. I expect by the time the QF rolls around we'll have lost another stupid league game and everyone will be concentrating on the cup.

This.

I'm desperate to beat the scum and send them both down. But forget the play-offs, it's extremely unlikely.

If we get to Wembley I'm not bothered what happens in the league from now on. Of course I want to win every game but it's no where near as important as that quarter final, that game alone could make our season memorable.

I've never been a fan of resting players though, nor do we really have the capabilities to rest players. We don't have any other fit central midfielders who are near 1st team standards. Gallagher's our only other wing option and he's injured at the moment anyway. Up front we've got Howard and Hopper but you can't really justify playing them in league matches when Beckford and Nugent are on form. Delfouneso might be worth a go but like I said, I don't agree with changing it for the sake of resting players.

It's important not to chop and change the defence too, as playing together more consistently should lead to a better understanding and organisation. In any case, if we do switch it around we've got Kennedy who's very capable and I'd still say our best midfielder didn't play yesterday.

If we bring in loans it won't be any more than 1 or 2 so that won't cover alot. If it was me I'd bring in a winger and a centre midfielder.

They are professional footballers and there is absolutely no reason that they are unable to concentrate on both league and cup, I'm not saying it'll be easy, but they'll cope.

Our squad is struggling a tad with injuries at the minute, so I wouldn't be surprised to see some loanees.

I'm not getting carried away with yesterday's result and will it kick-start our season? How many times have we said that? If we back it up with a win, and another win, and another win, playing well and showing some consistency, then yes, I may get myself back on the play-off bandwagon. As it happens, we've bottled every single opportunity to get somewhere, and this needs addressing.

It's a hard month though.

Coventry (h) - 3 points.

Bristol City (a) - 3 points IMO. Probably draw.

Reading (a) - Would take a point.

Birmingham (h) - Need to go for a win at home to any side in this league.

Nottingham Forest (h) - 3 points.

Blackpool (a) - Go for all 3. They're actually very unpredictable.

Hull City (h) - Got to go for all 3, silence those nobodies too.

Peterborough (a) - Again, we need to aim for 3 points, they're a tidy side but very beatable.

We should be looking to score a lot of points in March, a fantastic chance to climb up the league.

I have to say I want us to make Wembley and go far in the cup, but I am still confident about the league. We still have the ability to make the play offs in my opinion, especially taking into consideration we have the likes of Birmingham, Reading, Leeds, West Ham etc still to play.

Talking about March though, I still think we can beat Coventry (h), Bristol City (a), Nottingham Forest (h), Hull City (h) and Peterborough (a). That leaves Birmingham (h), Reading (a) and Blackpool (a) and although I would probably take a point from these three games, we should have confidence in ourselves to get something.

I thought Derby was 1st March? Anyway, League is over, I would rather focus on the Cup and aim to win it (ambitious I know) than treat that as second best, go out and fall short of the play-offs. If we get play-offs it is a bonus, but for me, this season is about the Cup

We seem to have one of these threads every month and, thus far, have continued to be dissappointed.

I just say what I've said every time..

Let's take it one game at a time and hopefully Nige will pick the right team and finally get us going in the league.

I have no real hopes of the play offs and would consider getting into them as a major bonus.

Yesterday, for me anyway, has made up at least in part, for a ridiculous season.

The league is over for us imo,and was when Sven left in my view, just two points off the play offs.

However he is gone, and our chances of catching up now, have almost completely diminished. Pearson needs to look hard at our players, and decide what style we need to play next season, and who should stay or go. come the season's end (that is if the Thais wish to retain him, which is in the lap of the god's.)

We should now focus on the Cup, and if we make the semis, then who knows?

Dont know about anyone else, but I would swap the Quarter final to be just outside the top 6.

Rather we made the Po's then got to the Semis of the cup, hope we do still concentrate on league too.

Let's just hope that the squad numbers hold up, don't really see mills playing right midfield
