Phube Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 Just thought I'd see what thoughts/opinions you all had when you were younger (or even last week!) that you were adamant about that you have completely changed you mind on? I'll start with a new one of mine... Up until last month I thought... knew Heat was a diabolical, boring film. I formed this opinion after watching it with my mates when I was 16. Finally after coming to terms with that fact that my 16 year old self may not have had the best of tastes in film, took the plunge and watched it when it was on TV. HUMBLE PIE: I'm sorry to say that the opinion I have had of this film for about 16 years was horribly wrong and I apologise to all I have bored with this stupid opinion. Please forgive me.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 Phube HEAT has always been a brilliant film ive got loads tbh, every time i critisize a City player, they usually score for example However as a younger lad i absolutely hated any group like Bon Jovi and Guns N Roses (long haired yeti's i would scream at the tele), now 20 years later i love them, well the music obviously
skinnydipper Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 If you hated something, then liked it, then hated it again is that an unhumbled pie or a double humble pie ?
HEGGSY Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 Is it wrong that I prefer apple pie? Awaits a sarcastic comment from BBQ
Haydos Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 Bruce Springsteen. Went to Old Trafford with my ma and pa when I was 11 and sulked all day. What an unappreciative sod I was.
skinnydipper Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 Humble Pie have produced some rather artistic covers for their album Thunderbox and
Captain... Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 I used to think Return of the Jedi was the best film and Empire Strikes Back was a bit boring.
jonlcfc1990 Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 I used to think Return of the Jedi was the best film and Empire Strikes Back was a bit boring. Same! I now realise what a fool I was and TESB is probably the best of all three star wars films! (Yes I said three I don't class Georges failed abortions as films)
Gold Coast Fox Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 I was adamant that David Nugent was a poor signing. Iv eaten the whole pie.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 i thought Johnson was a good signing but he ate the humble pie, several of them in fact
Unabomber Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 Used to hate the U.S Office, but then I watched it and realised my ignorant hatred was in fact far too much love for the U.K version. Now I love both versions.
Rincewind Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 I suppose I am appreciating a broad range of music now (still not keen on C/W Big Band Jazz and crooners though) and poetry is not as poncy as I once thought. Don't think I have had major changes. I tolerate older people more maybe because I am one of them now.
Captain... Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 Used to hate the U.S Office, but then I watched it and realised my ignorant hatred was in fact far too much love for the U.K version. Now I love both versions. To be fair the US office was shit, until it stepped out of the shadow of the UK office and actually found a voice of it's own, the only thing they have in common now is the name. I don't have as high hopes for the US Shameless, the US Skins, the US Inbetweeners, or the US Being human, and however many more bad copies they are going to make of other programmes. Not even the UK they just copy anything that looks good, and normally suck all of the life and character out of it.

HEGGSY Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 The Americans are making a pilot of Only Fools and Horses. Could be interesting. Blasphemy!!! Don't let them ruin it. PLONKERS!
skinnydipper Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 The Dutch have remade it too "Three overseas re-makes have also been produced. The first was in The Netherlands, entitled Wat schuift't? (What's it worth?). The Trotters were renamed the Aarsmans, it starred Johnny Kraaykamp jnr. as Stef (Del), Sacco Van der Made as Grandad and Kasper van Kooten as Robbie (Rodney), and was shown on RTL 4.[97]"
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 Vegetables hated them now a fan of them
Rincewind Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 Fawlty Towers has been made (sorry dubbed) into several languages. Not sure if it has been redone. Realized as I opened to reply. One of the worst US remake has to be Till Death Do Us Part. They did not have the notion what it was about or the point of Alf Garnett's bigoted views. Not a big lover of US comedy anyway.
Haydos Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 To be fair the US office was shit, until it stepped out of the shadow of the UK office and actually found a voice of it's own, the only thing they have in common now is the name. It took a season to know what it was, the first season still had a lot of funny moments though. Glad they worked out pretty quickly they couldn't just make a replica and actually developed some great characters.
ajthefox Posted 22 February 2012 Posted 22 February 2012 Scrubs. First few times I saw it by chance thought it was rubbish. It's been my favourite program on tv for years now. Rap. Used to make sweeping generalisations about it all being shit, but have long since realised that whilst there is plenty of rubbish, there are some rappers who are worth listening to.
Raw Dykes Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Scrubs. First few times I saw it by chance thought it was rubbish. It's been my favourite program on tv for years now. Rap. Used to make sweeping generalisations about it all being shit, but have long since realised that whilst there is plenty of rubbish, there are some rappers who are worth listening to. That's weird - I quite liked Scrubs when it first came out. I can't stand it now. I've always liked some rap, but thinking about it, a lot of rap is just bragging about material wealth, and I've just realised none of the hip hop I've liked has been about that. I went through a short phase of hating all things rock music when I was about 15, then spent the next 10 years listening to pretty much nothing else.
ajthefox Posted 23 February 2012 Posted 23 February 2012 Scrubs has got better and better as it's gone on imo. I think a lot of why I didn't like it was because at first I didn't understand the characters and so a lot of the jokes which are quite character specific were lost on me. I adore it, I genuinely makes me laugh out loud so often. That's precisely the reason I didn't like rap and why I still have a pretty limited taste in it.
