Guest MattP Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Now in a jumpsuit and on his way to a jail in El Paso. You know your country is ****ed when they send retired businessman to rot in jail in America while Abu Qatada is free to walk the streets of London.... What on earth is going on.
Webbo Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 He's charged with selling batteries for missile systems to Iran isn't he? Why should he get away with that just because he's old? If he is guilty then fvck him.

21st Century Fox Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 But if he was foreign it would be fine?
Guest MattP Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 But if he was foreign it would be fine? Yes that's exactly what I'm saying.......

If he is guilty then fvck him. From what's he has said I don't think he seems the sort, I believe him when he says he thought it was for the auto trade. Good luck getting a fair trial in Texas when "selling to Iran" is mentioned.
Steven Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Bliar and Cameron would rather sell somebody from Britain down the river than upset their chums in the US.
Webbo Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Bliar and Cameron would rather sell somebody from Britain down the river than upset their chums in the US. Those missile systems could be given to terrorists or used against British/ American soldiers. If he is guilty then he deserves everything he gets. I don't know how anyone can condone what he's done?
Daggers Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 From what's he has said I don't think he seems the sort, I believe him when he says he thought it was for the auto trade. Seems fair enough to me - who needs a court and evidence...
Guest MattP Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Seems fair enough to me - who needs a court and evidence... Which should and could have been done in a British court.
21st Century Fox Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Which should and could have been done in a British court. The transaction went through a U.S. fronted company and the batteries were being shipped from the U.S. without government approval.
Master Fox Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Poor bloke. I would much rather see Texas get Nuked to be honest. Double standards from America again. They've been selling arms to dodgey fvckers for years.

Webbo Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 Unlike the missile systems the British and Americans give to "freedom fighters"? So you approve of that?
Finnegan Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 So you approve of that? I think he's implying that if this man is worthy if imprisonment then serious questions need to be asked of the like of Charlie Wilson and co, not that what this bloke has done is fine because they did it to. Sort of a fair point, don't you think?

Reynard Bleu Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 I don't remember the yanks kicking up too much of fuss when funds were being openly raised in the US to supply arms to proscribed terrorist groups in Northern Ireland.
Finnegan Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 No So if a government does it it's fine by default, whether it's ethical or just or not?
Daggers Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 He's a typical golf club Tory who thinks he should be beyond the law like Jeffrey Archer and every other mendacious Tory twat who breaks the rules. I don't care if he's guilty or not, the bloke struck me as an odious toad.
Webbo Posted 24 February 2012 Posted 24 February 2012 So if a government does it it's fine by default, whether it's ethical or just or not? If we ignore, to save from be side tracked, the comparison between democratic America and Iran, a regime that fixed it's election, violently oppresses it's people and supports the brutality in Syria. You can't complain about Americans selling their weapons to certain unsavoury govts and then cry foul when they try to stop private individuals from doing the same.
