The thing is you clearly don't.

From your posts it seems you're saying a man should have to marry a woman regardless of what his brain and body tell him he wants to do? You can't justify disallowing people to be themselves without coming across somewhat fascist.

I`v never been called a fascist before, thanks lol

Like I say, I have my views on certain topics and others have theirs. I don`t pretend to be anything other than I am, I hope you respect that. ;)

When we get to Wembley, I`ll meet you all in a gay bar and I`l buy you all a drink

Listen.... I used to work with a lesbian who had 5 kids before she realised she should be batting for the other side, she was one of the funniest people i`v ever met and nights out with her and her partner were fookin great. They were married a few years back and I can`t fault them for doing it.... Also worked with a gay lad who used to give me a neck massage at my desk and tell me filthy stories about him and his partner, top bloke....

I go with the flow and hold no prejudice towards gay people but I have my views and i respect yours.... :kissing:

So the fact, you would deny gays the right to marry isn't prejudice?

It isn't a view, it's an innate predisposition. Nobody chooses to be gay or straight.

Marriage is a social construct conceived in order to treat women as property and thereby place legal claim on the vagina and guarantee the ability to attempt reproduction. This is also why it was not illegal to rape your wife.

The church holds no sway over marriage - it doesn't belong to those freaks, it is a made-up historical right of passage.

Arguing that some people can and some can't is as fvcking idiotic as saying animals should marry before copulating and that we should hold little ceremonies for our pets.

No one owns the right to say who can and who can't marry anymore than they can dictate who can wear red or who is allowed to eat grapes.

This thread seems to keep jumping forward 5 pages every time I log on, with a lot of reasonable comments and quite a few idiotic ones.

I can't be bothered to read through all 20 pages so apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick at any point, but basically WTF BBQ has gone severely down in my estimations and acooling08 has stayed at the same low level.

acooling's ludicrous argument about allowing gay marriage being an affront to "Christian rights" is deeply embarrassing in what is a largely secular country anyway. How can people that almost certainly don't go to church or act in any way like practising Christians suddenly bring it up when it comes to certain topics such as this?

And WTF BBQ, I take it you're referring to yourself with this post?

You show bigotry towards someone who doesn`t believe in homosexuality... You are no better than me :)

I struggle to understand how you don't "believe" in something that is actually matter-of-fact. If homosexuality doesn't exist, then explain to me why I get sexually turned on at the sight of a cute guy whilst having no response whatsoever to a "hot babe"? Surely there must be a reason? I mean let's face it - it's a hell of a lot easier being straight in many respects, so why would I "choose" to be gay? Sure, there are plenty of arty types in the world who make certain choices about fashion and lifestyle that make their lives more difficult. But I'm not one of them - I prefer to generally blend in with the norm, living a stereotypically "heterosexual lifestyle" (drinking lots of beer, standing and singing at the footy etc); it just so happens that I have no (and never have had) interest whatsoever in exploring a vagina or a pair of tits. I just cannot comprehend what you mean by your belief that homosexuality "doesn't exist"...

With regards to marriage, well as others have said it's a pretty outdated concept anyway that I can't imagine ever having any interest in. But others do, and I find it sad that, given that generally the most important personal reason for tying the knot is making a strong commitment to each other (**** all the sanctimonious Christian bullshit - as I said before I bet hardly any of the people voting "No" to same sex marriage practise any aspect of Christianity), people are still against it. Basically all you're saying is that gay people shouldn't be allowed to make a commitment to each other, which is unbelievably backward and incredibly insensitive and disrespectful.

There really is no argument here further than Houdini's first reply to this topic. Anyone who thinks otherwise has absolutely no case whatsoever.
