Grewks Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 Whenever we win we pick the same side. 4-4-2, always. Shouldn't we change it up a bit, otherwise teams know what to expect e.g. watford and bristol, they know how we will attack and they will know our weaknesses. Read an article last season which said Fergie had only kept the same team and system in back to back games twice since he has been at United, maybe we should look to expose other teams weaknesses rather than 'impose our game on others'.
acooling08 Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 Sir Alex has the strength in depth to be able to do that, we don't.
SystonFox Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 It's cos we always play shit teams away on a Tuesday night. It's too far to travel If it was on a Saturday we'd win
Leicester_lad_92 Posted 6 March 2012 Posted 6 March 2012 It's cos we always play shit teams away on a Tuesday night. It's too far to travel If it was on a Saturday we'd win But we don't until recently we hadn't won back to back games once in a year!! only done that now because it was cov
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 People will then criticise if we change a winning team and the result doesn't work out. Damned if you do, damned if you don't sometimes.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Yes, Wellens has been inconsistent this season. As have most - bar 2 or 3. But Wellens is the easy option to kick, obviously.
Fox92 Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Here's a reason for the inconsistency this season. I think you will find most of our players have been inconsistant throughout this season, you cannot blame it on one player. Laughable.
Happy Fox Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 How do we sort out these inconsistencies seeing as we have get automatic promotion next season? What players do we need to achieve this? any thoughts
marbelladave Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 I think you will find most of our players have been inconsistant throughout this season, you cannot blame it on one player. Laughable. He is currently our captain and even when not, our most experienced player and supposed leader on the pitch. He is most influencial when it comes to setting the tone and the tempo of our play. So yes we can blame him......

You can't just blame him because he is the Captain or most experienced player. What about when Kasper gets sent off against Forest? Nugent misses a one on one? Individual mistakes are not influenced by Wellens. I've heard it all now. "What went wrong Nigel Pearson?" "Ask, Wellens" I'll raise you a :frusty:

Captain or not Wellens is by far the most influencial player at the club and the de facto leader on the pitch. The problem is far deeper than just last nights lousy performance, it has been going on for a very long time. See your and raise you
Babylon Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Captain or not Wellens is by far the most influencial player at the club and the de facto leader on the pitch. And the evidence for this is?
marbelladave Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 And the evidence for this is? On view virtually every week at the KP.
Babylon Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 On view virtually every week at the KP. You have behind the scenes access? Interesting, you'll have to let us know what's been going on and how Richie "The Don" Wellens runs the team and the club.
marbelladave Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 You have behind the scenes access? Interesting, you'll have to let us know what's been going on and how Richie "The Don" Wellens runs the team and the club. Nope, just what can be seen on the field of play......
evs_the_fox Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Those 10 other players are part of a team, they take their lead, their inspiration from the team leader. Awww, poor lambs unable to perform if their captain is off his game.
marbelladave Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Awww, poor lambs unable to perform if their captain is off his game. Spot on..... I am glad that someone is paying attention....
TrentFox Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Team sport is such a complicated set of variables. There is an issue around quality of the individuals to factor in, as well as the ethics and culture of the team and sqaud as a whole. We chop and change managers at the drop of a hat, (or a few points). New managers bring new coaches who bring new tactics, new twists and variations. That is not conducive to consistency. Funnily enough, every team in the league is trying to win every match. To expect us to be able to throw teams and managers together and go out and waltz to victory week in week out is frankly ridiculous. Add to that the player factor. Consistency in the eyes of many of our fans is winning week in week out. To do that you have to also have top quality players as well. Have we ? They are good, no doubt. But if you were putting a Championship "team of the year" together right now based on this season, who would be in it from LCFC ?? One or two at best. Yet we seem to think that with better than average players and a new manager every six months we can be aiming for automatic promotion and just roll teams over. Like it or not, Sven should have been given the whole season. He wasn't. We move on. Pearson should now be supported over a long period. Certainly beyond this season; probably all of the following one. If we want consistency in results, we have to have consistency on the pay-roll.
FoxinLeeds Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 I don't believe that we have been inconsistent as has been said, we have played well at times and badly at others - but don't all teams every season? We have scored goals consistently all season but conceded just as regularly. We have been disjointed, tactically inept, too open and lacking in that desire to get to the ball first too often this season. This is a why we have not won as many games as we should, not because of a supposed level of inconsistency.

Matt Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 I blame poor refereeing and the fact we have to play for 90 minutes.
easilee Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 I have a feeling that talented as some of our players are, a few of them put their boots on the wrong feet before a game.
FoxinLeeds Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 Is what you've just posted not the definition of inconsistency? No. I was questioning that although we have had our usual good and bad matches, we haven't been that inconsistent. Throughout the season we have consistently looked good going forward and consistently looked poor when defending - sometimes we score enough to compensate for our defensive inadequacies and at other times we don't. I think that our performances have by and large been fairly consistent all season.
