Some people state they want to get rid of marshall. - ok hes not exactly set the world alight but he is young and at the very beginning of his footballing career - But how people can believe this and still want beckford is foolish, more time at our club, more time in his career, yet here he has not yet accomplished anything. doesnt score, is not a target man either, but the most worring thing is the lack of chances he gets, unless he puts himself about like nugent, he will not get goals. The Pearson/Sven squad debate - There is no doubting the fact that a lot of the players here are left over from Pearson's last stint, and at the moment they are playing poorly. - But since Big Nige was here last the it is as if we are a totally different club. These players served their purpose last time he was here, they were bought to consolidate our championship status, which they did. But now the objectives have changed, and so must the players. The revolving door of managers never works, ask chelsea. you only need to look at the obvious examples of United and Arsenal.

Yes Marshall is young, but I can't see him adapting to Championship football for a good number of years yet, he should of stayed at Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season. He just reminds me of Gallagher, he has a similar style and his attributes are similar. So far just like Gallagher he has been very poor in and around the field, but set piece wise he has been very good. What grates me is, people bum off these type of signings, Mills is the best defender in the Championship, he will be a star...now look. Marshall is the next big thing, we should expect immediate fireworks...first impressions poor player, people have even rated him 5's and 6's on ratings page so far. Getting Pearson back was simply the wrong move, they say never go back and that is beginning to be the case, so far he has done bugger all probably doing a worse job than Sven. We keep playing poor against teams in the relegation zone and just above, the midfield is still poor despite him brining in Drinkwater and Marshall. Like Sven, Pearson has brought in overrated youngsters instead of overrated experienced players. Drinkwater has had two-three very very poor loan spells before Barnsley, Marshall has just been at Sheffield Wednesday a team who are now in League 1. Michael Morrison was one of our best players in League 1, then when it came to the Championship he struggled to adapt, now he has moved back down a league with Charlton, he has been excellent again. We have the wrong players and the wrong manager, we need to start a fresh next season and hopefully the Thai owners don't ditch us.

If it's delusional to actually try and enjoy yourself while supporting City, which we catually seem to do at Cup games, then I wish more of us were delusional. Actual delusion is the astounding arrogance of morons believing we've a right to walk the league because we're a Thai man's stocking filler. It's a difficult division to get out of, fact. People should get over that and actually just try and enjoy supporting Leicester - win, lose or draw. Getting wound up every Saturday by football results is a shit way to spend 1/7th of your life...

No, doesnt give us any right...so when we brought Akinbiyi back when for £5 million he should have got us 25 goals a season then? Rome wasnt built in a day..& if we truly want to be a great club then we need stability to build something instead of chopping and changing

I support the club mo matter what, I think every signing is a good signing and I hope every under performing player will improve. I said we could make the play offs before today and I still think we can. Realistically it is almost certainly beyond our reach but who cares, until the maths is against us there is still a chance!

Chelsea have had 7 managers In 8 years and won 6 trophies . Arsenal have had the same manager in that period and won nothing. Man u have kept the same manager and won loads. So sometimes the revolving door works sometimes sticking with someone works there's no right or wrong way of doing it. You need the right person to stick with in the first place or maybe we should have stuck with Hamilton Pleat & Levein.

Cannot understand how some people use Sven's record to defend him whilst Pearson's isn't much different but he gets slated. Most resonable people will admit both managers have underperformed. Difference is Sven had a lot more time. If around december we are outside the play-offs most people that defend Pearson will admit hes failed. But some people seem to have blind faith in Sven. The team really needs is a mobile target man, a quality defensive midfield and 1/2 quality wingers. If Pearson doesn't address this in the summer I'd be very suprised. Could do with getting rid of some egos as well. Someone should tell them if they are playing in the championship then they shoudn't have an ego because its hardly like they're the best of the best.

Are you seriously saying he should be amazing from the off or he's not worth the money, or is there some form of irony that I'm not getting?

Chelsea have won 7 trophies since Arsenal last did in 2005. However, I tend to agree in principle, but how long do you give it? A whole season? Until Christmas? It's clear we need promotion.

It was perfectly reasonable to expect us to be in the mix come new year, maybe a player or two in the window for the final push, what on earth was wrong with that..... In retrospect, it all went tits up when after a month or so it became painfully obvious that Sven had no real idea how to manage a team in the championship, shame really......

Not many people on here would argue for the ongoing reign of many of our post O'Neill managers. To say stick with the same boss because continuity in itself will reap rewards is an oversimplification in the analysis. It's about picking the right man to begin with, and perhaps we have that in Nigel. I certainly hope so and will keep my fingers crossed. But if in time, he continues to fail with what many managers, pundits, and analysts would consider to be a squad of players with a great deal of quality in it (whether his buys or not), then continuity of a management team is not a reason in itself to stick with Nigel. My guess is that many managers would be jumping at the chance to work with this team, and would be beaming with positivity about their talents, and trying to lift the mood and motivate the players. Bemoaning previous managers and bemoaning good quality players will certainly not motivate them and talk of wholesales changes won't either. Its time to look beyond signing new players, and look to a man manager who can motivate them. We have good quality players no doubt, we just need some creativity. Claridge always says O'Neill achieved motivation primarily, by preparing the team exceptionally well, and having a plan they all believed in, as well as man management. In other words trust! It's no different to what makes us believe and work well for a manger. Our players are experienced, have worked under various managers, and I'm sure a good plan, together with removing some of the pressure on the players will get them to show their true colours. The players are not all shite.

mrmagoomc4 Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 i think losing vassel to injury really ****ed us up his energy up front has not been replaced howard or beckford just is not the way forward , neither is playing wellens game after game , mills seems to be definately out in the cold, why can the team not produce against the likes of reading, bristol city, millwall, and yet win 2-0 away at a really good side in norwich in the cup something just is not right with players attitudes towards games , the list is endless ill be glad when the summer comes and pearson will hopefully have a big clear out and bring in a fair few new players who want to succeed and play for the club and each other.

It's a lot less delusional than saying 'we can still get in the play-offs' We only have to win 3 games to win the cup, and not in a row! Yeh it's very unlikely still, but one off matches like these are always winnable. But being consistent is out of our reach at the moment.

Picking the right manager breeds success. I still hope Pearson is the right one. But Sven was the wrong one for me, as were all our other managers since Adams took us up. We have largely picked shit managers over the last few years, which has led to poor performances and league positions, which has led to sackings. Or they fell out with Mandaric (but we didn't like him either) or they went to Prem clubs. There is a right time to change and there is a wrong time to change. Right now is certainly the wrong time.
