gloriousglenn Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 What is the definition of a Plastic Fan and a Proper Fan? Are you only a proper fan if you go to every game? Can you be a proper fan if you only go to home games? Can you be a proper fan if you only go occasionally? What if, God forbid, you don't get to any games?! I now live in Canada and obviously can't get to games...this apparently now makes me a 'Plastic Fan' and I am no longer allowed to disagree with those 'Proper Fans' opinions! I'm not here to brag about how long I've been a city fan, or how many games I've been to (I'd blow a lot of the current 'proper fans' out of the water!), I'm just interested in peoples views on my opening question. Glenn Foxile in Newfoundland, hating the haters! @gloriousglenn
Corky Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 I would say a plastic fan is someone who shows little interest in the club until it does well or "big" games come around. A proper fan is someone who takes a real interest and tries to get to as many games as possible.

lcfcbaby Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 You can't judge how plastic a fan is by the number of games they go to or by how long they've been a fan! I believe it can be judged on how well you support a team and how you support them through tough times

Someone who's happy to get the bus at 8.30 on a Sunday morning to see them play. as long as we can stop for breakfast on the way, then we are good
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 Someone who's happy to get the bus at 8.30 on a Sunday morning to see them play. this....
HEGGSY Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 Someone who's happy to get the bus at 8.30 on a Sunday morning to see them play. Corky, your spot on there
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 Corky, your spot on there ? That was Davie's post
Finnegan Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 I agree with Corky. But one thing that does frustrate me is people venting - either on here or on Radio Leicester - after a match that they haven't actually seen. I don't give a toss whether you go to a match or watch it on TV (in fact, to be honest, I think a lot of the time you end up with a better idea of what's gone on if you've watched it on the box) but please don't start waffling rubbish based on Alan Young and Ian ****ing Stringer.

Some people cannot afford to go to as many games as the next person, some people may work weird shifts and may only be able to attend certain games in a season as for me i have been 00 games this season don't really need to explain why i don't attend games but i can assure you i care for leicester as much as you, bert or anyone and always will no matter what,.
HEGGSY Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 ? That was Davie's post I used the to respond to Davie's post about getting up at 8.30 and then I said Corky was spot on with his post.Poor grammar on my part maybe a connective or a comma would have sufficed
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 March 2012 Posted 11 March 2012 Unless you're Col City Fan. It's ok to do so if it's him. I can't get to every game Bert... I'm sorry.. Does this make me a plastic fan? Are you a 'real fan' cos you go to every game and have insider knowledge of the club? Tell you what I'll do... I'll PM you every post I intend to make so that you can make completely sure it's based totally on accurate facts... lol

I have to admit, sometimes that does annoy me a wee bit, but everyone is aloud there view as its a free country, If i dont go to a game...then im purely basing my views on the game on second hand information, which is by the radio most the time(as we arent on tv alot) so im not going to say my views would be gospel.

I now live in Canada and obviously can't get to games...this apparently now makes me a 'Plastic Fan' and I am no longer allowed to disagree with those 'Proper Fans' opinions! Why worry? Seriously. I couldn't give a stuff about someone else's opinion as to what 'type' of supporter I am or whether they reckon I'm allowed an opinion on something or not and I strongly commend this stance to everyone. Don't let people tell you what you are and aren't allowed to think, don't let them put you in a box of their own choosing. Fvck them. Seriously. Again. The way you intimate, I guess that you've been going to football as long as me and I know my matches attended and grounds visited is far greater than almost everyone on this forum apart from similar old buggers. But that doesn't make my opinions more valid or carry greater weight - they're nothing more than my opinions and if people don't like them then they know where the ignore function is...I've certainly used it for many on here. Carry on saying what you want, Greg. A fan is a fan is a fan - the entire plastic thing is a construct invented by those with little else to define themselves by!
