Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Watched the Sports report on the Beeb this morning and learnt after next year the BBC has lost the rights to show the Grand National and any other horse racing. CH4 will now be showing the National from 2014 having outbid the Beeb. Personally I am not a big horse racing fan but its the end of an era for the BBC and continues the gradual erosion of sport on the BBC who will soon be left with just Snooker and Bowls Is it about time for the BBC to scrap the licence fee, show adverts and become competetive again in bidding for sport.
Guest MattP Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Thank god for that, C4 is a million times better than Parrott, that fat cockney and Balding on the BBC.
purpleronnie Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Top Gear aside the BBC is pretty shit. Blimey is that the best the BBC can offer?
The Year Of The Fox Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 MOTD? Good program though if they actually televised live sport properly MOTD wouldn't be required. Instead we get fukin awful costume dramas, shit sitcoms etc
acooling08 Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 I don't watch horse racing but it's sad that the BBC are losing the sports they used to cover. I think that BBC Football coverage is brilliant compared to ITV/Channel5/Sky. I also think that their F1 coverage last season was fantastic. Fortunately I qualified for Sky Sports F1 HD for free and Brundle moved to Sky so I guess I'll live without the BBC. Just hope they don't lose Snooker, I tend to watch all of the televised competitions supporting Selby.
Bert Posted 19 March 2012 Posted 19 March 2012 Thank god for that, C4 is a million times better than Parrott, that fat cockney and Balding on the BBC. Simply because the presenters know what they're on about.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 Is the BBC giving us value for the huge revenue they collect from the license money? Personally, I don't thing so. To me their standard has dropped significantly over the last decade. I would much rather see them advertise, as other channels, and scrap the license. I could do better things with that money.

You obviously didn't see 'Don't scare the hare '.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 Even classic programs like Blue Peter are crap now
Corky Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 Should've gone all out to try and get international cricket.

Only good thing on the bbc is the news.
Toffee_Fox Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 Think its going to be terrible anyway, went last year but the possibility of Everton vs Liverpool at Wembley that weekend, I can't see many people going and the hype in Liverpool will be elsewhere, they can't shift tickets for love nor money currently for the national.
Mack Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 I read an article recently that said Channel 4 Racing is funded by Racing itself. In the face of that the BBC had no chance.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 Even classic programs like Blue Peter are crap now No, you just grew up. BBC>C4>Discovery>Dave>ITV>UkLiving>PricedropTV>Sky
acooling08 Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 QI and Top Gear is all I watch on BBC since the F1 coverage stopped.
