PWA1934 Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 Evening lads. Not come to gloat. I actually enjoyed the match despite your negativity didnt think it was such a bad game, but yes it was quite scrappy. We really rode our luck today, considering we had a 5 ft 8 right back playing at center back, I have to say im really surprised we kept a clean sheet considering the amount of times the ball went into the box. But Posh have had those days where we've pissed on people so its about time we had some luck. The so called premiership ref was awful, you should of had a penalty for a blatant hand ball. And your right back Lee Peltier is awful, I remember him being awful last season against Hudds. Hopefully this game becomes more of a rivalry in the next few years as our rivals are down in the basement! Good luck for the season.

Fair play, you scored a cracking goal but we should've done more with the amount of possession we had in the final third. You were there for the taking but we didn't capitalise.

And I am glad to hear a Posh fan say that the penalty was blatant. Really thought you were poor today too, but if both teams play poor, we always lose, thast how it works mainly. Bet you lose at Cov though, they arent very good but have somehow got some good results lately. As for a rivalry.............I doubt any of us will ever consider it a rivalry.
Kitchandro Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 I didn't see the handball that well but I'm sure Beckford was brought down around the box sort of area in the first half and the ref played advantage? I can't believe Cov are out of the relegation zone
The Doctor Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 Disappointing. Aside from the goal, penalty and a couple of daisy-cutters, I don't remember Schmeichel having to do much, meanwhile we have all manner of chances against what seemed a very iffy keeper & managed nothing. I disagree with the ref as to the disallowed goal, but you're rarely, if ever going to get that in the current game, it's going to be given as a foul >95% of the time. What annoys me most is Beckford's chance midway through the second half, the ball towards the back-post. He's got to throw himself at that, if he gets a touch, it's a goal. But he backs out, and you just can't do that. If he'd gone for it and the defender had poked it away, or he didn't quite reach it, I'd not have a problem, but as it is he just showed no interest what-so-ever. Set-pieces, there was nothing wrong with the delivery most of the time (from corners anyway, free-kicks were atrocious), but we allowed them to win the header too easily, particularly given Morgan, Bamba & Nugent can be a physical force in and around the box if they choose to put themselves about. Likewise, for all the freedom we got on the flanks, we were too slow. With Beckford and Nugent up-front, and Dyer pushing forward, we were hardly shy of pace up there, yet we just slowed it down and looked for the simple pass backwards rather than just getting the head-down and running. Only positive really was Marshall, he looked comfortable on the ball, confident in his own ability (arguably justifiably after those couple of screamers) and had a decent end-product most of the time. Looking at the results of those around us (Hull lost, Palace lost, Leeds lost, Brighton/Middlesbrough drew) this was a real chance to put ourselves firmly in the Play-off picture, but we were just too poor, and I don't think we'll get many more days like this, where we have the chance to capitalise on so many handy results.
accessory Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 Michael Oliver was poor, for me. Looked like a handball in the first half when Nugent had a shot and it was never a foul on the keeper by Morgan. He had an absolute shocker, again to the benefit of the Ferguson family... Apart from the two incidents you mention, Schmeichel took the ball for their penalty and the Nugent booking came about because Oliver failed to spot a posh player clatter Beckford near their box.
accessory Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 We really rode our luck today, considering we had a 5 ft 8 right back playing at center back, . Which begs the question, WHY did Nugent play most of the game on the wings? Pearson's tactics today were bizarre. I can understand why many are losing patience.
CasperBlue Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 peterborofox "As for a rivalry.............I doubt any of us will ever consider it a rivalry" Goodness me!..perish the thought! we couldn't possibly lower ourselves to that, even though we are geographically the closest league club to you.

How many times have we played each other in our history? Can't be more than 15. You either hate clubs or you don't.
CasperBlue Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 Hate is a very immature word if not used in the context of real life changing experiences.
CasperBlue Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 Hate is when some scum has shot your mate who was standing next to you a second ago, but now lies next to you with a small hole in his cheek, but with the back of his skull blown off... Grow up!

Jackirius Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 Just got back... Bloody hell. How did we not score? Can someone tell me what was wrong with the disallowed goal and what happened regarding the nugent/beckford events as i can't be arsed to trawl through everything as it's been a long couple of days an I'm knackered. Any way it was a shit performance and we lost to a very poor Peterborough side but I was still disappointed with all the booing at the end and really don't agree with that. But meh, always next season.
cambridgefox Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 It all got too much for some lads behind me(right side)at the final whistle had a punch up in the stand, bloody noses.im sure it would have been Beckfords fault though according to most.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 MOTM: Conrad Logan - His touch is amazing Peltier is not good enough, Would prefer to see Liam Moore there against Doncaster. Beckford won't play again I imagine, So i'd like to see Vassell back
Libertine Dream Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 Conrad's fault we lost, set the tone for the whole day, just couldnt score
nlukka Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 Finally returned home from the game (went for a post-match curry on Belgrave Road which was arguably the highlight of my day) Anyway, that aside, very disappointed with today's result. Didn't think the performance was as bad as some are making out - certainly wasn't as bad as Barnsley at home in January IMO. Credit to Peterborough for defending all the crosses that went into their box, sadly their players looked more 'up for it' than ours did. Haven't yet seen a replay of our goal that wasn't - anyone know whether it should have stood?

I've just been speaking with a bunch of people about all the amazing days out we've had when City play Peterborough away. The footnote being that we always seem to lose! So that curry you enjoyed is typical of every Peterborough away day I've had for 20 years.
Libertine Dream Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 The referee had blown his whistle before it had gone in anyway but its a very subjective incident. Has the goalkeeper flapped at it and not claimed it? Yes but if somebody jumps with a keeper nowadays its a foul so I suppose it was the correct decision. However GKs shouldnt get the protection they do.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 The ref had blown before the ball was put in. Not sure it was a foul but the sort of thing which was always going to be given as a foul as you can't breathe on the keeper nowadays.
Kitchandro Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 Typical football league show, utter wankshafts. Yeh Leicester had a goal wrongly disallowed in the last minute....but nah, we'll quickly move on. Why do they think it's not worth showing because it was given for a foul on the keeper so it's not worth analysing?

Why do they think it's not worth showing because it was given for a foul on the keeper so it's not worth analysing? The bbc highlights are so poor. As you say there was no highlight for three disallowed goal and didn't show any of our penalty shouts either. We didn't even have one highlight. Joke really. Think bbc have lost the Championship rights next season, certainly hope so.
Stand UP... Posted 31 March 2012 Posted 31 March 2012 it is a joke that show, so out of touch. the speeded up camera's at the begining of the show drive me insane! random fans jumping on the spot on a bus, its cringeworthy to see. bring back saint and greavsie
PWA1934 Posted 1 April 2012 Posted 1 April 2012 As for a rivalry.............I doubt any of us will ever consider it a rivalry. Obviously yes, I think it would have to be a good few years of us consistently playing each other for that. Just saying that you'd hope it would become a little bit of a rivalry, same as Ipswich who suddenly seem to hate our guts ...
