Harry - LCFC Posted 8 September 2012 Posted 8 September 2012 1200 people answered it, that's hardly a very big sample size - about 13 fans from each club gave a response (on average). Don't really consider it to be reliable when the numbers are that low.

Hardly any fans voted on this, there were probably around 20 who voted from Hull so it could easily have been a bit of an anomaly - perhaps the few people who voted just happened to dislike us more than the majority of Hull/Stoke fans.

Fox92 Posted 9 September 2012 Posted 9 September 2012 This has been posted before and like others have said, it's only a very small % of the actual fan base.. I don't get some of them either, such as WBA new rival Villa? No way, it will always be Wolves. One of the best derbies in the Country.

Over time though they played Wolves more so they became the more anticipated derby. Now they're back playing Villa again maybe that's changed? Though I agree the sample size for the survey was way too small, plus non-league teams were left out so Watford fans couldn't pick Luton etc.

Both these derbies are among the best in the Country. I wager all the West Midlands clubs will see Villa as the big one because they're easily the biggest club in the midlands. Like in Yorkshire, most clubs see Leeds as the biggest derby. West Brom and Wolves is more like us and Coventry, not traditionally their biggest derby but it has grown in recent times (like Derby/Forest as well.....). Their fans were even saying so on Sky Sports when the fixture was on TV last season.

A 'derby' named after a fvcking motorway is never going to touch it in a million years. Reading the Coventry thread in GF&S will show you the overriding emotion towards Coventry now is sympathy and pity, hardly Istanbul derby rivalling stuff.

Geography, politics, class, history, religion - rivalries are intriguing whatever their genesis. Apparently Newcastle v Sunderland dates back to the Civil War.
