AjcW Posted 13 April 2012 Posted 13 April 2012 I Do love a good American Comedy, I agree Modern Family is brilliant and also as far as new shows go New Girl is absolutely hilarious so much so I scrapped watching it on C4 and im now caught up to episode 20 online, plus you get to see endless amounts of Zooey Deschanel and her fit friend CiCI(Hannah Simone).
Bellend Sebastian Posted 13 April 2012 Posted 13 April 2012 I don't think it was helped by the fact it was Ricky Gervais gurning the whole time, maybe if he had written it for someone other than him and Karl Pilkington it might have been better, but to be honest I didn't find it funny and in the wake of the whole "disabled" storm on twitter seemed cynical and had an agenda, either to prove that despite using the word disabled he can write something sensitive and caring towards the mentally disabled, or to prove that you can laugh at them. I'm really not sure which one it was, but it certainly wasn't funny, so much so I switched over to the Sarah Millican show and that actually seemed funny by comparison, that soon wore off and I went to bed. I've not seen it yet, but is it even supposed to be that funny anyway? It's been billed everywhere as a 'comedy drama', TV speak which I always take as meaning that there's more drama than comedy. I thought "Titanic 2" was a joke. Didn't the boat sink in Titanic 1? It's pretty much gone to the top of the films I want to see list. I expect I will find it far more enjoyable than the original Titanic
Amin Posted 13 April 2012 Posted 13 April 2012 I too enjoyed Derek, even though I didn't realise it was going to be so serious. I think the pub scene and the part where Derek knocked on the dead woman's door showed the comedy-drama mix quite well. I also found the Karl Pilkington character hilarious.
skinnydipper Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 2012 is good Worth a watch on i-player if you've not seen the first 3 episodes
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 Nigel Pearson's post match interviews. Sorry, peeps, I just couldn't resist that.
acooling08 Posted 14 April 2012 Posted 14 April 2012 Nigel Pearson's post match interviews. Sorry, peeps, I just couldn't resist that. Well done Sir, it's not even on TV, but you get any jibe in on NP you can. On topic, can't believe Big Bang Theory hasn't got a mention, it is brilliant.
SystonFox Posted 15 April 2012 Posted 15 April 2012 Is modern family that show on sky one with the janitor from scrubs? Getting such rave reviews here I may just give it a go
Leicfox Posted 15 April 2012 Posted 15 April 2012 Blue Mountain State Community Weeds Workaholics The League Angry Boys
sphericalfox Posted 15 April 2012 Posted 15 April 2012 Blue Mountain State Community Weeds Workaholics The League Angry Boys I would like to view this programme properly without the aid of internet trickery tomfoolery, is it on a channel that might be available within my multitude of sky progamming? If it's not, I wish that a remake was on the cards. The subject could work in this country and would be amusing should the right writers get a go.

I've always used the internet trickery route. It's a great show though. You can watch them all here, just click the links. It's very easy, the gorillavid.in links are the best. http://watchseries.eu/serie/the_league
FuriousFox46 Posted 15 April 2012 Author Posted 15 April 2012 Is modern family that show on sky one with the janitor from scrubs? Getting such rave reviews here I may just give it a go Nope, that's the Middle. Modern Family is usually on before and/or after it though
VinceNoir Posted 15 April 2012 Posted 15 April 2012 5 pages in and not one person has mentioned It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Without a doubt the best American comedy show there is. It shits all over Community (which is also a funny show )

Guest Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 Last Friday I watched "have I got News for You" that still makes me laugh at times despite the incredible gradation in the programme over the years. It now seems to be centered around the guest presentor reading pre-planned "jokes" from the prompter as opposed to the original game show which had the two teams involved in much more improvised humour. The picture caption is for instance almost non-existant these days. My wife then stayed up and watched "Not going out" which she found amusing. I quite like Lee Mack and find him funny on certain shows but this type of comedy just makes me want to puke. And to make it worse it has that "audience" laughter after every few words to tell you that something was funny. NOT!
Rincewind Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 I'm the same with Not Going Out. I like Lee Mack. He is good on panel shows. But NGO I find too silly at times. The jokes seem too planned and would anyone really put up with the insults they throw at each other and the near sexist remarks? There are the odd funny moments though but it's not going out is not one I would not go out to see.
