Great Britain - A tribute (because we`re brill)

Sorry to be pedantic but there were no films or photos taken of the Titanic before it left port. It wasn't interesting until it sunk.

All the pictures are of the Olympic which was the first of the class to sail. Look at the pictures and the ship does not have a name on the bow. This is because the name Olympic was scratched off so it could be passed off as the Titanic.

What happen's if you're having a dump when the national anthem plays?

Women do it standing, they do everything opposite to us, normally over a glass table. Everything I know about life I got from porn.

Why not post a photo of the 25 chickens that fox probably tore to pieces before it met its death.

Because the majority of fox hunting doesn't go anyway near any chicken farms?

As someone who keeps chickens in the country I can't say that the fox is my friend - but it's hardly the best reason to use for hunting it.

A fox kills a chicken because it is hungry or to hone it's hunting skills.

Fox hunters kill foxes because they are sadists who get their kicks by seeing a defenceless creature torn to pieces.

Do not compare the two because one is nature and the other is evil.

A fox kills a chicken because that's it's role in nature, it's a predator. It also eats that chicken to sustain itself and it's family - that's how life works.

Getting dressed up, subscribing to generally profane levels of cliché toffery and tooting around the countryside to butcher an animal for sport with your pack of a dozen odd hounds isn't really nature.

If foxes are a pest, cull them humanely. I'm not any sort of animal rights freak, I'm an ardent meat-eater and I don't get sentimental about an animal's "feelings." But anyone who takes any degree of pleasure from savage dog fights, fox hunting and other such blood sports has a ridiculously sickening streak to them that, frankly, should be considered mental illness.

Nope.

A fox will kill absolutely everything it possibly can before being disturbed and will make off with just one chicken. Foxes aren't cute, they aren't pets - they are vermin; they spread tapeworm, toxocariasis, fleas and mange.

And oddly, I am at odds with Finners because I firmly believe that hunting is a countryside past-time which (irrespective of fancy dress or social status) should be allowed to continue. Providing the kill is swift it is no different to any other predator/prey relationship.

Problem is you can't look at it from any sort of neutral viewpoint as you automatically equate it to the Tory toff lifestyle you hate.

It's a wonderful tradition of the country. To compare it to dog fighting is utterly ridiculous.

I can vouch that they "kill everything and take one" (is it only the vixen that does that?, not sure). I`v posted before about my dads chickens being wiped out and buried around his field with just their legs sticking out of the ground (sad, strange but darkly amusing).

Predator/prey relationships are based around food, surely?.

Badgers, squirrels, slugs and Brummies also spread tapeworm, toxocariasis, fleas and mange, but we don`t go around killing them on horseback (although we probably should do with the Brummies that are culturally cleansing South Derbyshire).

I can see both points of view. With a hunt the stronger fox escapes. The weaker or ill fox is caught. Normally I believe it is a quick kill which is why they use the type of dogs they do. They are probably taught to quick kill The hunt provides work for stable lads and a home for dogs and horses. I don't know what has happened to these since the hunting ban.

What I do find distasteful is the ceremony and pampas snobbery that goes with the hunt. Some of the riders are not only up each others arse but the horses too.

I am sure they have found other outlets for their 'sport'. The weaker foxes will still die maybe alone and slowly and the stronger of the pack will still kill chickens. Now there are City foxes that attack small dogs and cats. It is a survival thing and they are adapting to City life. Generally City people see foxes as cute creatures and country folk see them as pests neither see things from the others perspective.
