Leicester City, Atmosphere, the past and future

Why does the kop have to be next to the away fans to create an atmosphere? surely if it is going to be the same people in it then we should be able to create the same atmosphere anyway! Think of anfield there kop is superb and it is not right next to the away fans! You've also got teams like man u with the stretford end and chelsea with the shed end that create most of the noise in there stadiums.

hes not saying actually move the kop. we all know that aint happening.. but if a good bunch of people just bought there tickets in N you could create another good size singing section together..

the kop for example its too mixed with singers and non singers spread out. where as here you could be a big singing section together.

If its so good in L1, how come the away fans always outsing it.

Don't be daft, the away fans don't even attempt to sing most of the time. Unless you mean pre-match.

If N block got a bit louder then it would improve the atmosphere, I can't see it happening though. However, I'd love to be proved wrong.

If N block suddenly got loud, then we'd have 3 (maybe 4 if J3 are on form) good blocks surrounding the away fans.

Exactly that!

Do they ****. Swindon (their big day out), Leeds (outsing everyone, regardless), WHU (we hadn't got anything to play for) and maybe Peterborough have out sung us this season.

You want to take those rose tinted specs off pal, even that lot that were doing the conga the other week sounded louder

Oh Doncaster was a terrible atmosphere too, no-one was bothered. Maybe it sounds louder because I'm in the middle of it? Where are you chanting from, the mighty kop?

No-one is saying the Kop's loud - the issue is whether L1 is. And it's not.

It is according to that bloke who keeps stalking me around the forum, calling me mate and dissing everything I say

Different pitch, but I can't see that we've got much of a problem with atmospere. Anyone who went to Chelsea would have seen first-hand just how comfortable the home team had become with Prem football and that sitting nicely and applauding the weekly goal fest was the norm. We're a long way from becoming that boring. True - I've not been to as many home games this season as a lot of you , but the atmosphere has been markedly better this season in my opinion than in previous seasons.

Personally - and being a fully paid-up member of the Filbo 'Pen 2' and Pen 3' gang from my former City years, I like the 'getting into the faces of the opposing fans' method of watching the games, and when the football's boring, which - it has been for most of this season, then it's a laugh to get the banter going.

Anyone remember some of the classic old 'midweek' games at Filbert Street? When the kop used to surge forward, and the whole ground was a mass of noise, expectation, and mist...remember the mist?

Alas - those days are gone. But if NP can bring back exciting football, then surely - we'll all be happier, and noisier? I'm hoping. Up the City.

No that is not the issue the issue is to make another singing section which is non organised in N Block. Also season tickets are cheaper in this area of the ground.

OP - I really admire what you're saying, but it definitely needs actions to speak louder than words and organisation is the key. Get a group of clued-up lads with people around 'em willing to stand up to shite from the stewards and tell them to piss off (i.e. what the FBs didn't have) and it's on to a winner. Really needs the right kind of switched on people to get involved though, not just 15 year olds who cream themselves over We Love You 3 years after the rest of the world has seen it on YouTube.

Thank you. Like I said if everyone just moved over there the club couldn't really do anything to stop it like before. If anyone is willing to help or give advice I'm all ears. Should this take off it could be massive. J, K, L & N all singing, wow. Come on lads let's get it done

having had season tickets in the Carling Stand, East Stand and Kop at Filbert Street can I suggest the Fans aren't really the problem?

The Carling Stand was no different to how the west stand is now. Me and my mates used to sit right next to the away fans when allowed in the east stand and we always used to have a good sing song and a bit of banter with them.

Then we moved to SK1 and yes it was great and the away fans being right next to you used to help create an atmosphere as you didn't want to be out done by them, oh and yes the fact we were relatively successful may have had something to do with it.

Now I am at the back of SK1 and have been since we moved and yes over the years the atmosphere has got worse but what have we got to cheer about? I will back my club whatever and at times when things are going against us, if anything i'm more passionate then. But we have to accept moving to a bigger ground, attracting a new market of people and being further from the pitch, with no roof/tiers right on top of you was always going to dilute the atmosphere and noise.

As for L1, they are just doing what SK1 and SK2 were doing for the last few years at Filbo, lets not forget standing was replaced by seats a few years before we left and it had to be a really good night to get SK3/4 standing once they had the choice to sit.

I say fair play to L1, i think the idea of getting N block to box the away fans in, would help the atmosphere but is a complete no go, as you have to take kids and will get chucked out for any bad language.

I know this can't happen but we need to get away from this dated idea of the kop being in the same location as filbert street, an ideal solution would be allow cheap family tickets in the west stand for families or in SK4 for example, then allow anyone who wants to watch the game from behind the goal as I do, but wants to be next to the away fans, which in choice I would, to move out of the so called Kop into the current family end. I know all the reasons for why this won't happen, but it's just my opinion.
