I'm going to throw this out there, Sol Bamba can't tackle for ****.

It seems like every time we concede a goal 9 times out of 10 it's because somewhere along the line he pussies out of a 50/50 challenge or lets someone waltz past him like he's not even there. He's built like a ****ing tank, why is this happening? Sort it out big man.

Don't worry! Pearson will sort it out. lol lol

Best place for him is at the top of a diamond, he can pick the ball up go on his mazy runs that scare the shit out of opposition defenders and he's got a bullet of a shot. Keeps him away from our defence and when he gifts the ball away it won't be putting them straight through to our goal.

should be playing cb hes no good in midfield and he can tackle

He shouldn't be playing there at all, he's a liability, does too many things he shouldn't do.

Yes at first he looked like a good defender but he is not someone Pearson would want, like the west ham game he had the ball in our box with Cole near him, he should of cleared it out straight the way. Instead he messes about with it in the box which led to Cole getting the ball off him and West Ham having an opportunity at goal.

I wouldn't miss him and I don't know why you wouldn't want him gone, our defence needs improving so getting about £1.5 - 2m would be a good offer not to turn down.

And now it's Sol's turn to get stick from his "fans". Amazingly most of them being the ones that think some are beyond any criticism at all.

A brute of a CB, with pace and skill, who can play sufficiently well to push for a place in midfield (when's the last time you'd consider a CB an option in midfield?), I guess it just doesn't fit in with the first division football some of you are so keen on watching.

He'll be a premier league player if he leaves .... but at least you'll get a young hungry clogger in his place to get behind.

Have you actually watched his positioning and ball watching? His awful decision making when he rushes recklessly out of the back line far too often? How easily he got turned by Jason Scotland?

He's not the worst player and I don't want him out of the club, I think he can be improved. But at the moment he is a liability.

I agree, but i think these are the things that keep him at the club, if he didn't have these downsides then he'd be top half premier quality. But i think a premier league coach would quickly have this out of him anyway.

TOTALLY DISAGREE with the original post....

It was only a few weeks ago we were talking about a fantastic double tackle he did against Forest when we drew 0-0, from that we went on the attack and Dyer should of scored!

Pointless thread and, once again, we go over the top in criticising a man thats been just as inconsistent as most of the squad!!!

He IS a class player, just cos he's not been at his best doesnt mean he's a liability. Last season he was outstanding after a very promising debut.

Not helped with him going to the AFCON as he's been in and out of the side but he's got a lot to offer and guranteed if he leaves, he'll go on and do well for himself at a higher level.....

He was poor towards the end of last season. Did you watch Reading away by any chance, that summed him up for me.

Yeah he had an average game that day but so did everyone else!

He had ALOT of good games too.

If people can honestly say they believe SSL and Matt Mills are better than Sol then times are bad

He had a diabolical game.

It's not about ability, it's about consistency. He probably edges those too on talent from what he was shown but if his decision making is as bad as it's been of late and he switches off like he continues to do then yes, he is well below them. That's what makes him a liability, not an awful defender.

You make decent points there in fairness.

He does switch off at times but, on his day, can be Prem class.

We'll see what NP does in the summer, he may agree with you and he may be sold but who knows.....

Back to the original post though, i still think its daft.... The bloke CAN tackle, to say he cant is ridiculous

Anyone who rates him clearly doesn't know what it takes to build a defence.

He is sloppy, a terrible passer, his positioning is a joke and you could never have a solid back four with him around.

Get rid.

And SSL and Matt Mills are the answer..... ??

No, none of the three are "the answer", the all have serious defensive flaws.

I agree but only we can make players worse!!!

SSL and Sol are international defenders and Matt Mills was Reading captain last year in a succesful side!
