I'm going to throw this out there, Sol Bamba can't tackle for ****.

It seems like every time we concede a goal 9 times out of 10 it's because somewhere along the line he pussies out of a 50/50 challenge or lets someone waltz past him like he's not even there. He's built like a ****ing tank, why is this happening? Sort it out big man.

I feel like I should say that I havn't made this topic just because of today, I've noticed this in several games. It just seems like such a fundamental flaw in a defender.

Liabilty. I thought it was a mental thing, what with his positioning and decision making being so temperamental but he's starting to show other flaws which are baffling tbh.

From what I've seen, his tackle looks very impressive .

There's a thread for this sort of thing Zingari! :P

Wouldn't be sad to see him sold.

Brought for 250k, now sell for 2 million.

Won't get even close to 2 mil for him.

I won't mind if he is sold either. He makes a lot of errors during games, but it's just his pace and long legs that get him out of trouble. I do think he is a liability also, and if we want a solid defence (like the play off season), then there isn't room for him, in my opinion.

Agreed he's been dreadful since he came back from Africa.

maybe since going there he's obtained the 'I'm better than everyone' mentality. I think he's Premier League bound next season, hopefully I'm wrong because when he's on form, he's AMAZING.

Can't tackle, has no positional awareness & can't pass.

Still, when he goes on a 30yard run in midfield which ends in nothing people love him o_O

Never rated the guy, he'll get the legend tag from the ****** though for the goal against Man City, even though he was completely shown up by Milner 20 minutes later for their leveller, thats pretty much Sol summed up.

When has he showed this?

Totally agree something I have been saying for months too much of a maverick!

I can see where people are coming from but imo he's a pretty fair defender, not brilliant but good enough for this division. He's out of position sometimes but it's usually his last minute tackling that saves him. As for his surging runs, sometimes when we're flagging badly, they can lift the crowd and boost his team mates.

Don't get me wrong, he's a beast... when he's at CB. I think we can say that the experiment of putting him in a DMF role hasn't really worked, for one reason or another he is lightweight there, but he has still saved our asses countless times in the back line.

I wouldn't say he's lightweight in midfield. I think he provides some of the steel we're currently lacking in midfield when he plays there. It's just his passing is nowhere near good enough for him to play in midfield regularly.

I think Sol may too be on Pearsons 'for sale' list..
