21st Century Fox Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 The poor lamb has lost gazillions due to illegal file-sharing so it's long overdue. Think of all the cataract glasses he could've bought with that!
Guest BlueBrett Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 facebook has peaked. won't be 'worth' half as much in 5 years
Daggers Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 btw just to go back over what i was saying about facebook tracking http://lifehacker.co...-how-to-stop-it if your going to read it, then read it fully especially why "just being logged out" is not enough. i.e cookies twitter is doing the same thing aswell http://lifehacker.co...n-do-to-stop-it What I was talking up the other day - Ghostery, a brilliant little extension. Ghostery for Firefox and Chrome, an extension we've mentioned before, gives you complete control over the scripts and cookies that run when you visit any site. You'll be able to see which sites are dropping cookies or running scripts that call home right in your browser, and choose to block or allow any of them you choose.
Captain... Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 facebook has peaked. won't be 'worth' half as much in 5 years But that's not how people think, they see something that is worth a lot and therefore think it always will be, I would say it is already on the decline, users are still as hi as ever, but that is in part because it is impossible to leave, but I would expect to see usage per user going down.
JadeFalcon Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 i use per session cookies so they all disappear as soon as i close the browser and noscript in firefox, it disallows ALL scripts on every website as standard.. not really for the average user as every new site you go to needs adding to it, but once you've added your regular sites its great
21st Century Fox Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 What I was talking up the other day - Ghostery, a brilliant little extension. You beaut, I've been looking for a decent Safari extension for ages.
Saxondale Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 how the hell is facebook worth 104 billion ? It isn't. You'd be mad to buy shares at issue price. I predict they'll drop 90% within 18 months. And you can quote me in 18 months time.

Saxondale Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 I think you're right , didn't the same thing happen to Friends Reunited ? I don't think that floated, did it? Unfortunately for FR, which was ground-breaking at the time, Facebook et al came along doing the same thing and much more. I don't think Facebook will be replaced but I don't think it can grow much more either. The valuation is massive relative to it's current revenue / profitability and can only be based on revenue potential. I can't, however, see the ongoing commercialisation being effective enough to justify the pricetag. As shareholders become progressively less patient, they'll start to sell and the value will crash.
Webbo Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 I think ITV paid a fortune for Friends Reunited only to sell it for a fraction of what they paid a few years later.
sphericalfox Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 I think ITV paid a fortune for Friends Reunited only to sell it for a fraction of what they paid a few years later. Not that it was much better before but we've been suffering with the likes of The X-Factor and BGT ever since. Shitty cheap yet profitable barrel scrapings.
Zingari Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Not that it was much better before but we've been suffering with the likes of The X-Factor and BGT ever since. Shitty cheap yet profitable barrel scrapings. What was the brilliant stuff we had before ? Blind Date ?
