Guest MattP Posted 15 June 2012 Posted 15 June 2012 Because Rangers have an unblemished and impeccable record of looking after children in their care... You know obsession with your rivals has reached unhealthy levels when you know more about their history than that of your own club. Until and unless the huns (whatever name they go by) can match this achievement, they will always be in Celtic's shadow. Scotland's most successful club, Rangers are and always will be. It's hardly knowing more about their history, it's hardly a big secret their staff have abused boys in their care and tried to cover it up is it, I even heard as rumour once that Jim Torbett gave a talk in a school and his trousers fell down....
reynard Posted 15 June 2012 Posted 15 June 2012 Rangers need 8 positive votes to remain in the SPL. Shouldn't be too hard to get. They all need Rangers or whatever they will be called in their premier league or Sky will stuff them and withdraw the money and then they are all sunk. Of course if it was a club like Inverness no one would give a stuff. Considering our less than clean record on this I find it a bit hard badmouthing other clubs in a similar position.
The Doctor Posted 15 June 2012 Posted 15 June 2012 I can't imagine Hearts are too keen. Rangers owe them £800,000 as remaining balance from the signing of Lee Wallace last Summer. I don't know if the football creditor first rule applies in Scotland but imagine that they must be debating as to how they vote. I think they'll vote for. They're in the shitter as well, probably vote to try and get a precedent in place should things get much worse for them. Shouldn't be too hard to get. Well that's debatable. Aberdeen and Dundee United in particular would be in with a good shout of Europe without them, they'd probably bring in more money through that than a pathetically small TV deal.

I think you're being massively naive, to be perfectly honest. I will be gobsmacked if anyone but Celtic votes them out and I imagine the Hoops would only do that to save face with their fans if they were confident that the Gers were staying in regardless. People aren't exaggerating when they say it would kill the SPL, sure Rangers would probably return in two or three seasons but you're still talking about an enormous hit to television revenue and that's the life blood of football clubs in our age. Plus, with the Europe-wide financial situation the way it is, we're never going to escape the risk that other clubs could follow suit and the like of Hearts, 'Well, the Dons and the Terrors, near permanent members of the SPL, will want to set a precedent to keep themselves safe in the future. I'd go so far as to put money on Rangers playing in the SPL next year.
breadandcheese Posted 16 June 2012 Posted 16 June 2012 I'm not sure that the Rangers situation is comparable to other SPL clubs in financial hardship. If Rangers case was a straightforward administration, then I think it would be a no brainer and other clubs would vote for Rangers share to be transferred to the newco. However the big difference is that Rangers (or rather their previous owners stretching over a decade) have cheated Scottish football and all the teams in it. For example, last season, Rangers finished second last season. they did this whilst not paying any tax (paye or vat). I wonder how the other clubs would do with the 10-20% extra revenue that comes with tax fraud. So it's not just a case of straightforward financial mismanagement but wilful manipulation and cheating. I'm not sure Rangers newco playing in the SPL next year is a fait accompli.
accessory Posted 17 June 2012 Author Posted 17 June 2012 Scotland's most successful club, Rangers are and always will be. You mean they were. They are an ex-club . They have ceased to be And once HMRC have completed their inquiries into tax evasion, illegal registrations and fraud, their trophy count will be significantly reduced.
Guest Bilo Posted 17 June 2012 Posted 17 June 2012 You mean they were. They are an ex-club . They have ceased to be. And once HMRC have completed their inquiries into tax evasion, illegal registrations and fraud, their trophy count will be significantly reduced. They're likely to lose six or more of their titles, not sure if that would mean Celtic would overtake them in the SPL count. As for the underlined part.... So everyone can enjoy a bit of Monty Python.
Mack Posted 17 June 2012 Posted 17 June 2012 Putting all the Celtic / Rangers hatred aside for a moment, I think it's important for all fans of jockball to remember a few facts. Firstly Celtic and Rangers have / had a financial monopoly in the SPL that has virtually strangled the rest of the league into liquidation. Not only if this bad for the league financially, but also competitively and it's no wonder than so many fans north of the border are thoroughly cheesed of with the game up there. If Scotland is going to get a league that is open, more compensative, fair and thus matches well attended it must get all clubs to agree to a fair TV and sponsorship rights deal for all member clubs. Secondly Rangers have been ridden like a bitch by money grabbing businessmen that have driven what should be one of the only money making football clubs in Scotland into oblivion. Quite how all this can be wiped away with a few pieces of paper and a vote is beyond me. Leaving creditors out of pocket and with no means of redress. I've seen this in the business World and it's bad form there, but at a high profile football club surely it cant go unpunished?

Wonder if Geoff Shreeves is off to Ibrox to break the news?
Jordan Posted 17 June 2012 Posted 17 June 2012 Goodbye, Rangers Football Club Plc; hello, "Club 12." (Although I, too, would bet on "Rangers" filling in that placeholder in the near future.)
accessory Posted 18 June 2012 Author Posted 18 June 2012 I'd be happy to take that bet. Most SPL fans are dead against admitting newco to the SPL. http://splsurvey.co.uk/SPL_SURVEY_Newco-FFP-Results.pdf
Finnegan Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 Doesn't matter what the fans think. It'll be a money decision and Rangers bring money to the SPL. They might owe a lot of clubs but so what? Those clubs will be even more skint without TV revenue.
Guest MattP Posted 18 June 2012 Posted 18 June 2012 Considering Accessorys/Ultras recent predictions of Livingstone being guaranteed to win the Lindon Mayor race and Man U having wrapped up the league I think we can safely say that Rangers will be in the SPL next season. You mean they were. They are an ex-club . They have ceased to be And once HMRC have completed their inquiries into tax evasion, illegal registrations and fraud, their trophy count will be significantly reduced. Yeah ok......so Leicester don't have 2 league cups then?

Those clubs will be even more skint without TV revenue. Not as skint as they'd be without fans. Meanwhile, it's not getting any better for newco.. As forecast, the SPL are now looking into allegations of illegal contracts.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18496571

I'm a total lefty, socialist hate the Tories type - however, I must give you credit for that, for it is very amusing....
accessory Posted 20 June 2012 Author Posted 20 June 2012 Walter Smith walks away (again..) http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18503656 And the word from Glasgow is that the end is very near.

Grow the **** up, Colin, stop being a wand.
Guest MattP Posted 20 June 2012 Posted 20 June 2012 Good idea to get that story going round before the vote comes up....
