accessory Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 http://www.itv.com/news/story/2012-06-12/rangers-fc-facing-liquidation/ Rangers FC faces the danger of going into liquidation after plans for a Company Voluntary Arrangement were rejected by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. It means the club would be forced out of Europe for three years. Rangers were forced into administration on February 14 after the club failed to pay millions of pounds of tax following the takeover of Craig Whyte last year. Here is a look at what the club owes: Whyte failed to pay a tax liability of around £4million resulting from payments made to Ronald de Boer and Tore Andre Flo. Rangers could also face an additional tax bill of up to £75million over their use of Employee Benefit Trust payments to players and staff between 2001 and 2010. The CVA document showed Rangers owe more than £55million to unsecured creditors with investment firm Ticketus accounting for almost half of that total. The London-based firm, who plan to pursue Whyte for the money, had been due to hold a board meeting today to discuss their approach to the CVA. Rangers also owe money to several football clubs, including Hearts, who have yet to receive £800,000 of the transfer fee agreed when Lee Wallace moved to Ibrox last summer. The first of many?
Guest MattP Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 Be interesting to see how the SPL clubs vote now on next year's status. I agree Rangers need to be punished but do you also punish the lesser SPL clubs that need the income of Ranger's TV rights and travelling fans to do it?
Vacamion Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 Interesting, In theory, after they are liquidated, the newly reconstituted company should start again at the bottom of the league pyramid, or at least be relegated, pour encourager les autres. In practice, I can't imagine that "Newco" (as the press up here are calling whatever the slightly re-named Rangers end up being called) will be relegated from the SPL as it would make an already financially destitute league circle the drain.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 So Scotland are going to end up with a league that is won every year by Celtic?
THEFATBASTARD Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 the Rangers "company" owes 134 million...an incredible sum, if some of the chancers and so called "business men" can be held accountable and brought to book for this shambles, great..we all have to follow the rules and pay our taxes ,so should they..
Thracian Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 So Scotland are going to end up with a league that is won every year by Celtic? Perhaps that would have been the case anyway if Rangers hadn't been spending money they didn't have.
1884Fox Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 So Scotland are going to end up with a league that is won every year by Celtic? No way hibs are gonna win it. HIBEES
Happy Fox Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 This scenario was always going to come, I think Rangers fans have already accepted/ are going to have to accept 3rd division footie. Mismanagement at the top has lead to this over the years, I only hope we don't go down this path.
RonnieTodger Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 So Scotland are going to end up with a league that is won every year by Celtic? Hopefully that nutcase Romanov might spend money again and Hearts could challenge for the title like they did in 06. It might make other clubs more of an attractive prospect to buyers if they know they can finish in the top 2, also.

The same clubs Rangers already owe millions to. In many cases their fans are pushing for strong penalties. Much of the lost income can be recouped from increased shares in TV revenues.

No Old Firm games would mean that the SPL wouldn't exactly be fought over by the TV companies.

If someone owes you £8000 would you help them make money so you get it back over the next 5 years or would you crush them so they had nothing but you got nothing? Who are "many fans" you talk about? I know a few Hearts and Killie fans and they both want Rangers to stay in the SPL.
Guest MattP Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 and to any of the kiddy fiddlers enjoying it...........
Leicesterpool Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 In my opinion they come and play in our league, they'd get more money and better opposition. It could mean them having to play in non league but it could be worth it in the long run.
Jordan Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 and to any of the kiddy fiddlers enjoying it........... Would you rather live with Nottingham Forest's history than die with Leicester's? I thought not. I think Partick Thistle fans would probably say the same thing to Rangers fans.
Finnegan Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 Indeed. It's more sick, sectarian shit about Big Jock allegedly conspiring in the rape and abuse of kids by the Catholic church. Sad.
Guest MattP Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 Indeed. It's more sick, sectarian shit about Big Jock allegedly conspiring in the rape and abuse of kids by the Catholic church. Sad. Celtic Boys Club, not the Catholic church. Still a disgrace an investigation was not carried out into the football club to find out exactly what happened considering the evidence produced in court by the people who were involved in the Torbett case. Don't really understand how it's "sectarian" either.
Ross-Kemp Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 Big jock did know, that's why he sacked him ! Didn't go to the police though did he, makes him an accessory in my book ! If Rangers die, child abuse FC will also die !
Jordan Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I understand it quite well. Of course, the "kiddie fiddlers," and "...and if you knew your history..." reference are not-so-subtle digs at Celtic. But I don't really see what digs at rivals really do in this situation, and if Rangers fans really are that proud and defiant, they should show thicker skin than they are by responding to Celtic's taunts. And every true fan of a club would rather go down with the ship anyway, and thinks it's club is the best club in, if not the world, his own world. But sometimes it seems a bit silly, like this, or Leeds fans singing, "We are the Champions, the Champions of Europe" when they were really in the shit. I'm not having a go at anyone, but I fail to see how pot shots by Rangers same at Celtic (and vice versa, to be fair) make this situation any better.
Webbo Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 Everytime there is a mention of religion/Catholicism in general chat there is always talk of kiddy fiddlers and nobody bats an eyelid. I don't know why people are getting so sensitive about it now.
