Rangers face liquidation

Hearts have come out and said they will vote the Gers out of the SPL.

Unlike Romanov to court controversy...

Motherwell have said they will give their fans a vote, which I struggle to see working as there are far more Rangers fans living in Motherwell than Motherwell fans.

Strange days...

Romanov wants to finish second in the SPL so his beloved Hearts can go out in the first qualifying round of the Champions League to some random Icelandic team......

That might explain why it has just been announced on BBC Scotland that Dundee Utd have announced they are also voting against Rangers (or should that be 'The Rangers')

Considering Accessorys/Ultras recent predictions of Livingstone being guaranteed to win the Lindon Mayor race and Man U having wrapped up the league I think we can safely say that Rangers will be in the SPL next season.

Yeah ok......so Leicester don't have 2 league cups then?

Leicester didnt go into liquidation though?

Is it right that Ultra can just rebrand himself and continue posting at the highest level?

Shouldn't he be made to start by sticking to the bottom of the pyramid with absurd transfer rumours and wishlists before working his way up to General Chat?

I find McUltra's automatic inclusion at the top level to be, quite frankly, an insult to established posters.

Most teams it seems will vote to kick Rangers out regardless of how much money it might cost them.

ive been thinking that myself and totally agree what you have said. itwant be long before some of those other clubs end up like rangers and will be sorry that they did not consider there reactions. so celtic look like they will be top dog for a quiet a while boring

RIP jockball.

No Old Firm means no interest from outside Scotland = no money = dead league.

Quite why those teams are voting against their only selling point I dont understand.

Seems to be blatant bitterness and sticking the boot in in the face of their own survival.

PS Rangers can jog along if they think they are going to play in our league.

BBC Scotland has learned of plans being put in place that would allow Rangers to move directly into Scottish Division One in the coming season.

Rangers FC plc is soon to be liquidated and Charles Green's consortium are reforming the club.

But Green's Rangers newco has not gained support to replace the old club in the Scottish Premier League.

And senior Scottish football figures are proposing that Rangers start season 2012-13 in the second tier.

There are also plans for the SPL and Scottish Football League bodies to be merged into a new organisation called 'The Scottish Professional Football League' in 12 months' time.

The main points of the proposals are:

  • Rangers are to be relegated with immediate effect and replaced in the SPL by Dundee.
  • Television rights for Rangers matches in Scottish Football League Division One are to be bought by the SPL for £1m.
  • The SPL and SFL will merge into one body at the start of season 2013-14.
  • Play-offs between the top two divisions will be introduced in time for the coming season with one team from the top flight and three from the second tier competing for a place in the following season's SPL.
  • There will be an increase in the parachute payments made to clubs relegated from the SPL.
  • Changes will be made to the distribution model for clubs in the top two tiers with teams in the lower leagues earning a similar amount to the current set-up.
  • A new pyramid system will become effective from season 2014-15 that will allow a potential place in the new league format for a team from either the Highland league or newly-created 'Lowland League'.
  • Rangers newco's acceptance into the Scottish FA would only be approved if they accept responsibility for the football debts and fines incurred by the pervious club along with their waiving of rights to a legal challenge.

It is understood Rangers chief executive Green has been "briefed" by Hibernian chairman Rod Petrie on the plans to gain their approval.

All these changes have to be approved by SPL and SFL clubs over the next few days.

Division One clubs Falkirk, Raith Rovers and latterly Morton have voiced their opposition to any plans to place the Rangers newco in the second tier.

With no Rangers currently in the SPL, 'Club 12' is listed on the league's fixtures for season 2012-13 and Dunfermline, who were relegated from the top flight last season, expected to be reinstated.

Dundee, who finished second to promoted Division One champions Ross County last season, have not gone public with their view on who should take the place of Club 12.

I can only imagine what Livingston fans must be thinking after being relegated to the lowest league after liquidation.

In my opoion Rangers should consider coming in are league, because coming in are league would get them more money than if they would if they stayed in the scottish league. Now the big problem would be, where to put them. Well One idea is to make the Blue Square North into a 24 team league and put Rangers in there and reinstate the team that finished 21st last season. I know it would be a long journey to the premier league but it would be worth their honor.

Not at all.

You wouldn't do it if Hearts, Dundee United, St Mirren were in the same position.

They play in the Scottish league and they is where they should stay.

Agree, it's bad enough having the Welsh teams..
