BlueSi13 Posted 9 August 2012 Posted 9 August 2012 24 golds. Just astonishing!!!!! It truly is. Our feats in Beijing were breathtaking but this takes the biscuit. So much so that if the USA were to have their swimming golds taken away due to their complete domination of the pool, we'd actually be above them in the medal table up to now which is staggering considering the gulf in population size/funding/ facilities etc. I was privileged enough to be in the olympic park yesterday to watch the hockey and the atmosphere and vibe around the park (which is a true marvel) was incredible! Felt so lucky to sample and add to it!
Guest shearfox Posted 9 August 2012 Posted 9 August 2012 Jade Jones is guaranteed at least a silver in the -57kg taekwondo Just won the Gold...
Rincewind Posted 9 August 2012 Posted 9 August 2012 Watched that final. Quite interesting. 6 minutes to win a gold. Watched the womens football final too. Was impressed on how good they were. There are some very good players. Is it time to have mixed teams? Or are women still physically too weak? I am sure some of those players could give players of the lower leagues the runaround. Their attitude was better than mens too.

AoWW Posted 9 August 2012 Posted 9 August 2012 Can someone tell me how the "ignore/block" function works. Cheers. If you click on the small drop down arrow next to your username (top right of the page) you have the option to 'manage ignore preferences' (or something similar). Simply select that option and you can choose who you want to ignore and for what (eg, posts, PMs, etc).

marko Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 Muhammad win taekwondo bronze Wonder what colour that medal would have been if Cook was selected. The guy that Lutalo lost to earlier in the day, Hemme, was Cook's bunny. He'd beaten him a fair few times.
I am Rod Hull Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 evans through to final.... What a cracking performance by the Welsh lad to beat the world champion. The score of 11-10 flattered the Ukrainian.
Guest MattP Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 Muhammad win taekwondo bronze What a complete fcuk up that was, Cook beat the one his lost to last time out as well.
Guest shearfox Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 What a complete fcuk up that was, Cook beat the one his lost to last time out as well. Not Muhammad's fault, his gone and done his best and became the first British man to win a medal at the Olympics, his done a great job who knows how Cook would have performed...
Jimothy Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 It's not Muhammad's fault, it's the selectors obviously. For form to go out the window you have to have form in the first place. Had Cook gone, and lost early, the selectors would just have to say, well we picked the world number one and world champion, he just didn't perform on the day. But they picked Muhammad instead, and as the world number 87, they have face the music that they've selected someone not good enough and blown a huge chance for a gold medal.
marko Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 Not Muhammad's fault, his gone and done his best and became the first British man to win a medal at the Olympics, his done a great job who knows how Cook would have performed... No-one is saying it's Muhammad's fault, but which other sport has left out the World Champion and World #1 for a fighter whose highest rank was 59 and rank at the time of selection was 87? The architects of this shambles were the selectors who effectively cut off their nose to spite their face. Could you imagine if Jamaica left out Bolt or Blake, or the USA left out Phelps? It just wouldn't happen. Cook was #1 on merit and deserved his place. But for Hemme qualifying for the final, and Lutalo coming in via the backdoor so to speak and salvaging something out of this debacle, the selectors would have been completely humiliated.
I am Rod Hull Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 He won the bronze medal, FFS.... Well done, Muhammad

Guest shearfox Posted 10 August 2012 Posted 10 August 2012 I wasn't directing any anger at him. So you wasn't sorry, it's just a lot of people haven't gave him credit and just moaned about his selection.
