Lincoln away cancelled

Recommended Posts

"Lincoln City FC was due to play at home against Leicester City in a friendly fixture on Saturday 4 August.

Lincolnshire Police has received Intelligence information that this match may be disrupted by people travelling to Lincoln with the intention of causing serious disorder in the city.

In close consultation with the club, we have reviewed the situation and looked at the potential consequences if the game goes ahead. It has been decided to cancel the match on the grounds of public safety.

Chief Inspector Kieran English said, “We understand that fans will be disappointed about the cancellation of this match but it is a friendly fixture rather than a league game and our primary concern is the safety and welfare of the general public. We have carefully assessed the plans and preparations we have in place for such events and have concluded, with regret, that the risk to the public is just too great.

“We are very grateful to Lincoln City Football Club for agreeing to cancel this fixture on the grounds of safety of their fans and the public of Lincolnâ€.

The Club will be making an official statement with regards to this in due course. This will include information as to how supporters can obtain a refund should they have pre-purchased tickets"

HIGH RISK ARMY

I could smash something, was seriously looking forward to that.

They should be totally ashamed of themselves, why arrange a friendly if there was a risk of this anyway?

Thanks for ruining my day you absolute cvnts.

Confirmed as cancelled on police advice according to Lincoln forums.

Obvious question; why?

EDIT: Just saw the plans of 'serious disorder' reasoning but surely they'd be little to no chance of a pre-season friendly with a non-league club kicking off. I get the impression that Lincolnshire Police have listened to Norfolk's 'High Risk' bollocks.

I would have thought Lincoln City are pissed off about this?

Loss of a decent home gate and revenue.

Sounds like the Police didn't fancy paying for extra officers, looks as if the court ruling for Leeds over the Police might've had some effect on this.

Due to the extended sports day down in London there are no Police. If anything remotely moderate happens during the Olympics the Police cannot respond as they simply aren't enough of them.

This is laughable, so, so laughable.

Why arrange a friendly and then decide there'll be too much trouble a day before?

And if they've "gained intelligence about people causing trouble IN THE CITY", then will they really be put off from that? I smell bullshit, big time.

The timing's a joke, the reason's a joke and tomorrow is ruined, thanks a fvcking bunch.
